Lyonel has a number of visual tells that indicate his status as a Red Hunter Archon. The vast majority of his body, except for most of his head and the front of his torso, is covered in thick red scales, including a band of thinner scales that runs horizontal across his cheeks and nose, as well as possessing black claws at the end of each finger. His eyes are distinctly coloured, glowing brightly in the dark with black sclerae tinted purple by the light of his irises.
Appearance
Lyonel is heavily-built, standing at 7' with considerable muscle, though is fairly heavily scarred around the arms and chest, with one prominent scar along his left cheekbone. His hair is raven black, shaven close to the skull in spring and summer and grown longer in the colder months. He is sparsely adorned, wearing a number of rings on his fingers, as well as having a pierced septum.
Life Story
Lyonel Deceres was born to Nathan Deceres, a half-Maquixtl, and Madeleine, a full Maquixtl in 281AC. He was born and raised on the road, accompanying his mother and father, the latter of whom was a mercenary. Both followed Dragon worship, his father particularly being of Anglian descent. He was raised alongside his twin sister, Arianne.
On the road, Lyonel's family was joined by his paternal uncle Atl; informed of his grandmother's home culture, Lyonel and Arianne were each offered the opportunity to stay in the Regalian Empire, or to go to the Chantli and learn to be like his forebears. Against his father's advisement, Lyonel left for Guldar, while Arianne remained at home; this would go on to shape them both individually.
Only twelve at the time, Lyonel, using the chosen name Itzmalli, lived and trained with his uncle. Here, he would develop a deeper appreciation of his people's culture, but also delve into the world of the Dragons and their mission. Enlisting in the knight-like Wyvern Lodge in the family tradition continued to shape him, developing him into a fierce warrior, though not yet an Archon. Here, he received his own wyvern; naming him Tēcu, meaning lord, Lyonel had taken stewardship of the animal that was meant to be his father's, but was never taken to be tamed. Fierce and half-feral, he dedicated a significant amount of time and risk to bonding with Tēcu, eventually forging a strong trust between mount and rider.
Lyonel would spend ten years in Guldar, immersing himself in the long history of gene-cults and science, growing a keen interest in metallurgy and craftsmanship, and further honing himself as a warrior of the Wyvern Lodge. He would eventually leave Guldar to return to his family-- particularly his sister-- and to see how the world had changed in his absence, eager to experience Regalia through new, Chantli eyes.
Lyonel returned to Regalia particularly seeking glory in 305 and 306, joining military groups and taking part in competitions. After the execution of his twin sister, he left for some time, returning once again in 308. He served with distinction in the Sendras War, then was raised as a Hunter Archon by the Central Matron on the 17th of April 309AC.
Later in 309, he hosted many of Regalia's refugees against the Vampire Crisis in the now-ruined Calvonth Castle, though afterwards found himself directionless. He returned to Guldar for some time to cure his aimlessness, meeting with Atl and shifting his priorities and, indeed, his goals in life; invigorated by his time at home, he returned to Regalia in 310.
In 311, Lyonel Deceres is a Red Hunter of Caius in the Imperial City, one of few warriors of the Dragons with the express goal of not just combating the Occult threat posed to the City and to the world, but extinguishing it altogether. What that means for him-- and, indeed, the people around him-- has still yet to come to fruition.
On May 15th of 312AC, Lyonel married Amelina Peirgarten, thereby marrying into the Peirgarten house.
