    Expanded Description
    • Lotanen has a very plain face, unattractive even, with worn features more associated with a peasant farmer than any kind of noble warrior. A prominent scar splits the corner of his lip and runs to just below the eyelid. His green eyes stand out against his dark skin, which is a few shades redder than that of a normal Sihndar, though still mostly near-black. Instead of hair, something like elongated centipede's legs hang from his scalp, coming to points at the end.
    • Well-trained and muscular, Lotanen's physical abilities are clear, though his muscles don't stand as defined and tight against his skin as those of some others do. More mutant marks dot his torso, in the form of irregular patches of black scales. He has quite a few scars, the most unusual being a round one just above the navel.
    • Particularly unusual for someone of his culture, Lotanen has taken to wearing armor, to an almost religious degree. He is rarely seen without his plate metal at least partially assembled on his person, and usually covering his face, though the helmet can be taken apart for eating and drinking.
    • Lotanen speaks slowly and in a generally dispassionate tone, without using many contractions or particularly complex words. This may cause him to appear simple to an outside listener, or they may assume that his Common is not very good, as the Sihndar accent is fairly prominent. There is a definite degree of intention that might be noticed in this manner of speaking, deliberately hiding his emotions.

    Personality

    • How would your character express Happiness and Contentedness?
      • The more at ease Lotanen is around a certain person or place, the more likely he is to begin to deconstruct the tower he has built around himself. This might include taking off parts of or all of his armor, eating and drinking a larger meal, or simple things like maintaining eye contact.
    • How would your character respond to experiencing Fear?
      • Lotanen builds walls against fear. A childhood of training in combat has taught defense mechanisms uniquely suited to violence, and they do not translate well into other situations. Being mauled by a werewolf and being publicly embarrassed have the same solution, wearing armor to hide his body.
    • How would your character respond to experiencing Stress?
      • Pacing, thinking, trying to come up ideas and solutions, but usually in a very mentally-hyperactive manner that tends to be energy intensive and often times not productive if the situation can't be resolved and there isn't someone else there to moderate it.
    • How does your character view Law and Authorities?
      • The law and those who maintain it are necessary in order to maintain the function of society, but at the same time they are not invincible or incorruptible. Law and power can be easily taken over by those who would invite in destructive ideas or use their power to kill and harm with impunity. If such a thing were to happen, then the law and its executors must be remade, with martial force if needed.
    • How does your character feel about Races other than their own?
      • Somewhat complicated. Lotanen does not hate other races, but due to the treatment his people and he have received from Ailor and Altalar he tends to be more guarded around them, and less likely to want to show weakness, a kind of toxic defense mechanism that can lead to a type of deeper resentment if not properly curtailed. Conversely he dislikes Kathar, and views them such that any individual must prove their being an exception to the stereotype to be worthy of being considered trustable.
    • How does your character feel about Religion for themselves, and other faiths?
      • Faith is something very personal for Lotanen, he's not the type to try and proselytize or explain it to others. He feels the touch of the Spider Queen in his life, and believes in their ability as an extension of his own personal skills, that he fulfills any obligations of faith he may have through his actions and abilities in general.
    • How does your character feel about the Arcane and Magical in the world?
      • Magic is a tool like any other, but not all magic is equal. Some types are more dangerous and more able to corrupt and drive mad with power their users if that use is not strictly monitored and well disciplined.
    • How does your character feel towards their family?
      • Family is important. While he has not spoken with them in very long, they still remain some of the few people he trusts deeply, in part because he knows that they can take care of themselves, and that he does not need to worry for their safety.
    • What is your character the most proud of about themselves?
      • Lotanen is proud of his skills and what they have been able to do for others. Even if he has failed before, he knows that there are people out there alive because of his intervention, when they otherwise would have died.
    • What motivates your character to move forward and better their life?
      • The idea that his actions are not futile, that there is more time left and that he still has the power to change things.
    • What is your character's biggest insecurity?
      • That he will be left behind and left alone, cast out for some failure, whether real or imagined.
    • What is your character's biggest fear?
      • Loss of self and identity. Having his mind enslaved by a mage or some other creature, becoming undead, or being turned by a vampire or werewolf and made forcibly subservient to its progenitor.

    Life Story

    Birth - Childhood
    • Born in a Sihndar hold in Drowda, alongside four siblings, Lotanen was the middle child. As soon as it was possible, the induction into their martial culture began. Cramped conditions, constant training and pressure, never during this period did he think of a different path or life, because the world inside the hold was essentially all that existed at that time.
    • During this time he was trained in metalsmithing, a specialty of the Ahamat hold. All of the young boys and girls learned to make first basic tools and crafts, and then moved on to the creation of blades and other weapons, culminating in the forging of their personal Khoptar at the age of sixteen.
    • During a training accident, Lotanen was given the scar on his face, as a result of being unable to dodge his partner's swing quickly enough. Scars and wounds were common among his people, but the source of it was a mark of personal shame for him, as he was marked by being unable to meet a certain standard.
    Adolescence
    • At the age of sixteen, after forging his sword, the real trials began in the form of live missions outside the hold to subjugate the populations of dimension-warped monsters that lived in the land owned by the Banner. Actually wiping them out would be like attempting to sweep the tide back into the ocean with a broom, but such was the duty of the Sihndar.
    • During one mission, an argument over the chain of command resulted in a fight between Lotanen and one of the other teenagers. Lotanen won, but was left feeling as if he had done anything but, allowing such a simple squabble to turn into something that shed the blood of one of his allies. Again he felt the need to prove himself, and hammer in the fact that he was capable of meeting the high standards of his people, even if it meant pushing others down.
    • As he moved towards adulthood, he began to feel a sense of futility regarding the cause of a cleansed Drowda. Of course it was still a just goal, one he did not stray from, but the process of reaching it seemed insurmountable, even if they had ten times the numbers.
    Young Adulthood
    • His greatest mistake happened at the age of 22. Placed in charge of a mission to defeat a pack of demonic beasts, they intended to strike while the leader who spawned the creatures was outside of the den, forcing him into solitude where he could be chased down and dispatched. This was Lotanen's plan. However, it was a miscalculation. He was too hasty, not taking enough time to study the nature of the creature, and not realizing that it was capable of using a form of void power to return instantly to its den.
    • Partway through the extermination, the broodfather appeared in their midst, killing three of the ten men and women under Lotanen's command within the first five seconds, and piercing him through his stomach. Five more died before the creature fell. It was only through ritual magic that allowed Lotanen himself to survive, drawing the enemy's blood to heal himself. There was not enough time to do anything for the others.
    • Death is a part of life in Drowda. Every Sihndar knows that their lives may be cut short at any moment, that this was the price they had to pay if their children's children were to be able to live free of dimensional evil. But the fact that these deaths came as a result of his own failings and that he was the one who survived when he perhaps did not deserve it weighed heavily on Lotanen, and so he left the hold to fulfill his Demand elsewhere.
    Adulthood - Present
    • Coming and going through mercenary bands and militias, he lived a nomadic lifestyle, following where he thought he was needed. During these travels he came into contact with the dwarves, and with the help of some fellow blacksmiths forged himself a suit of armor. Living among other peoples helped to broaden his focus, allowed him to realize that there were other evils in the world and other ways to fight them besides slaying the undead and the dimension-touched monsters. These things were reflections of mortal ills, and the world would not be able to stand against them until it was free of other types of sickness.
    • Over time, he has learned to open himself more and accept the help of others, but Lotaren still has a long way to go in reclaiming the normalcy and stability he never had. Most recently, his travels have brought him to the Ailor city of Regalia.

    • Make sure to note in your Proficiency list that you're spending 12, not 6 on Ritualism.
    Otherwise claimed and approved.

@OkaDoka The four abilities are 2 actual abilities and 2 aesthetics, which is what you get for 6 points as I understand it?

@The_Contessa Oh! Yes, I see. You have some free Age points then (6 exactly, which is why I got confused), are you leaving those undeclared?
