Lore Staff is Recruiting
Every year or so, MassiveCraft Lore Staff does a major public recruitment drive for new Staff Members, and that time has come now. We are looking for roughly 5-8 up to maybe 10 new Lore Staff members, primarily to keep the core functions of the server going while higher-ups continue working on their own projects. As part of the recruitment process, new applicants will go through the process of aspirancy, where they will be shown the ropes of processing, application review, and ticket support. From there applicants can move on to specialize in other projects. Before considering applying though: Make sure you have a clean record, as players who have recently (in the last 6 months) been banned will not be looked at.
Regarding Workload:
MassiveCraft Staff operate in two different modes, the first one being "Maintenance Mode", the second one being "Project Mode". Every Lore Staff member goes through Maintenance Mode for several months before deciding whether to switch into Project Mode, which is more specialized work beyond basic Processing, Character Applications, Lore Tickets and other minor tasks. MassiveCraft tracks a sort of work load calculation for each Staff Member that dictates Rank in a very bureaucratic, but transparent and fair manner. We expect all applicants to understand that if you apply for Lore Staff and make it into a Rank, that as soon as you have that Rank, some of your personal freedoms become reduced. You will be held to a code of conduct, and may often have to pause or interrupt your roleplay to deal with a ticket that is urgent.
Regarding Internals:
Lore Staff is not a unified circle of friends or monolith that it is sometimes made out to be. It is a very diverse group of people recruited from different sub-communities of Massive, some from the Guard, some from Nobility, Crime, High-Fantasy Mages, Low-Fantasy Knights, Crookbackers, Old-Town, Business Owners, the list goes on and on. As a Lore Staff, we frequently disagree with one another, and sometimes debates can also get heated and a little bit personal, but that is the beauty of Lore Staff. We recruit members to have a more varied view of what happens, and what needs to happen on the server. We want more varied people representing more varied groups. You will butt heads with many Lore Staff in discussions, but above all, you must also accept that your not-preferred solution may sometimes be chosen, and still get on board, even if you privately do not support it, and you must also be comfortable being able to exist in an organization where not everyone is friends.
Regarding Hierarchy:
Lore Staff has 4 layers of authority, though the first two mesh into each other. Rank 1 and Rank 2 Lore Staff make up the bulk of the Lore Staff. The only real difference between Rank 1 and 2 is that Rank 2 has higher in-game permissions and deals with larger project assignments, while Rank 1 is more laid-back and easy-going, keeping the core engine of MassiveCraft (tickets/apps/processing) running smoothly. Above them are Rank 3 Lore Staff, who make big decisions but also act as the fall-back authority when Department leadership is not around. Department Leadership is LumosJared and MonMarty. Every Sunday 21:00 GMT / 17:00 EST we meet during the common meeting, followed by the Lore Meeting. Except for extenuating circumstances, frequent participation in Lore Staff meetings on Discord is mandatory.
So, to quickly summarize, Lore Staff Applicants:
