It was okay. It was okay, because she knew nothing bad would happen. She did her best in the war, despite being removed after her fight with Brandt. Knowing Brandt would eventually forgive her was her greatest happiness.
Eirain sat upon her mother's old chair. Removing her letter opener from her drawer as she sliced open letter after letter. Going through invitations, bills, propositions and writing responses. She finally came across a letter from her elder sister. Peeling it open slowly this time, and carefully reading over the note. She was rusty in her Northerne so it took a few moments to decipher.
"Dear sister,
I regret to inform you that since the war is over me and my friends have been rather bored. I got into quite the scuff with my eldest friend, Brandt. I ended up biting off some of his ear. It was an accident however, and I'm sure he forgives me. I'm going to be sent home, and I can't wait to see you.
Fjola."
Her ears rung with pure anger. One of her own flesh and blood being sent home from a war? This disgusted her beyond belief. Her hands scrunched as she crumbled the paper in her hand. Her eyes wandering before she thought to contact her friend Violetta. Deciding against it, Eirain began digging through her drawers before finding the contacts to her bodyguards.
Calling them from their quarters as she began sliding on a more suitable dress with the help of her maid. Sliding on a coat and fastening it before stomping out of the door in her little heeled shoes.
Upon finding herself in the murky, fog clouded street, very odd weather for the somewhat sunny atmosphere of Regalia, she readied her carriage before boarding it with her two bodyguards. Shutting the door before looking out towards. Closing the small set of curtains and dimming the carriage. Laying on her side comfortably as she felt all the bumps of the street.
They soon arrived at the docks, boarding Maggy quickly. Time seemed to go incredibly fast for hours before they finally intercepted the ship bringing Fjola back to Regalia. With a heavy heart she looked towards her sister, before the sympathy faded.
Her eyes somewhat welled up with tears. Her milky gaze shutting tightly in anger before she waved her hand. Having the house guards drag her onto their boat and tie her to a chair on the lower deck. Soon after a brief conflict with the other ship's captain they made their way back to Regalia. In a matter of hours once they arrived in the city they boarded their carriage once more. Eirain went to quietly gag her sister and wrap cloth over her eyes.
After a short time in their journey, Fjola was removed from the carriage by the bodyguards. Being placed on a small boat with the two and rowed across a sound in order to reach a small island with a rather large and towering building.
A foreboding aura surrounded her as she was dragged from the shore to the island. Having been removed from the chair. Her struggling and muffled yells had died down. She was sure her sister was going to end her life. But instead the Bodyguards dropped her and the employes of the large castle-like building. Her blindfold being removed, as well as her bonds. Once finding out she was being dragged into an asylum, and seeing the gate close. . Her own sister looking back at her in slight regret, she began to scream and fight. Once initially being dragged back and held down by the guards of the asylum she found herself biting into them.
Taking off ears, fingers, and even a nose in a fit of rage. She was forced onto her stomach and restrained before a large mask was locked over her head, It would hurt to even move her head.
Once being locked within her very own room, with a small table, a candle, a barred window, and multiple carefully selected books, as well as a comfortable bed. Fjola stayed away from the items and furniture. Sitting in a corner and trying to pry off the mask, once tiring herself she fell asleep. Waking up to the sound of a three bodyguards entering the room. One removing the mask from the weak and tired woman, the other placing a large tray of food for her. She just laid there.
For a full week she refused any food, just drinking whatever water given to her. She began to eat, but she was picky and ate barely the full plate each time. Losing weight and unable to to gain any muscle she felt her mind slipping. Every day within the asylum felt like a month of blinding darkness. As the months ticked away within the Asylum, she had lost herself. Most days she hid under her bed and slept hours and hours of the day away. But beside her seclusiveness she never caused a fuss. Allowing her to earn visits with her older sister when she frequently denied even when her sister begged for her on the outside of her room door.
Her mind was lost, she often hallucinated seeing her children again, which she wasn't allowed to visit within the asylum. She missed her sons, her young daughter. She missed her one true love, who she has painted and placed within her room. She kissed the painting often of the dark haired woman who entranced her very soul. Watching it and thinking of her true love as she fell asleep. She began to exercise in her room once more. After a month she was back in somewhat good shape.
Soon enough letters from her friend Brandt would be sent to her. She wrote back often, and they wrote to each other every single week until Brandt came to visit. This time she allowed the visit, the first thing she did was give him a big hug and cry like the baby she was. Asking about her children and about her lover, to which she got multiple positive replies. She held his hand tightly as they spoke. Her eyes trailing over him as they sat for hours and spoke. He soon had to leave, but that was alright to her. Upon his departure she felt better. But she wasn't able to find herself in her original, happy state. She did however have a beautiful view of the sea, and often watched trading ships sail across her vision.
In time regrets would brew. In time things would be different. But for now, it's to be continued.
