Daughter of Alexandre Sastra and younger sister of Mateu Sastra. As a child Leya loved to visit the family’s local textile shop where they made fabrics and tapestries. She enjoyed helping the workers by bringing them things they needed and giving them lemonade made from the local lemon orchard nearby. As she got older she gained a fondness for getting into trouble, fighting with her brother; mostly playing, though he almost always won and leading groups of the local children about on ‘adventures’ through town and sometimes into the nearby woods despite protests from her father about the dangers of it. As Leya hit her teenage years she wanted to join the Gilded Peacocks, the House Guard of the Sastra family. Her father was confused by this desire as she was by all rights a noble and did not need to fight. But he honored her wishes and let her join where they trained her with an arming sword and various daggers. She proved to be quite good at leading small groups and would often patrol the estate grounds with the House Guards. Finding this to be more satisfying than other activities. Adult Years: Leya quite enjoyed leading the House Guard at her immediate family home and the Sastra estate in Bragacao. Though she still found plenty of time to help out at the textiles shop where she learned to make bolts of fabric, clothes and beautiful tapestries. She noticed though that despite being part of her family’s guards she knew little of the actual laws, now as an adult she realised there was much more to these things than just marching around the streets. She took it upon herself to learn the laws of the land, in Bragacao and the entire Archipelago of the Regalian Empire. She even at times would advise her family on legal matters when needed as she studied cases of legal matters of old and new. Eventually Leya discovered a love for Theatrics, drama and story, acting and deceit. She loved to visit the theatre and watch plays, she herself even took up learning the arts of drama where she greatly enjoyed putting on the part of valiant hero, a frightened damsel or tricky jester. No matter the role she loved it. The stage was somewhere she could get away from the pressures of life and be someone else. The owner of the theatre was an old woman from a bygone era of theatrics, she took a shine to Leya and taught her much of what she knew. Though things could not always go so well in life. Terror and fear struck her heart when she one night awoke to black ash and smoke billowing through her bedroom window. As she looked outside there were rioters in the estate courtyard! A coup had been initiated and loyalist guards were being cut down all about. Betrayal from within had struck when a traitor opened the gates for the attackers. Her brother burst into the room and took her hand, quickly leading her away out a secret back exit known only by the family and they both fled to Regalia in search of Remei to tell her. Further tragedy strikes when they arrive and meet their young cousin Santino and find out he is the new Patriarch of House Sastra and he informs them that Remei and Santiago have been assassinated in Daen. They have lost their lands to a coup and House Coivra has taken over Bragacao. Only time will tell what comes next.
