Backstory/Plothooks

Born into a world of wealth and privilege, Leandre was the sickly cherished only child of young Ottillie and Solene Delmotte in 287 AC, within the borders of Basta. His early years were marked by absence and frailness; he didn't truly meet his father until his fourth birthday, thanks to the strict regulations of the Viridian Academy. Just as his father graduated, the Chrysant War erupted, leaving Leandre in the care of his mothers and a small entourage of caregivers.

Growing up in this environment was no easy feat. The absence of a father figure left a void, leading Leandre down a rebellious path. Despite being plagued with an extremely weak immune system. He frequently ran away, tormented his cousins, and clashed with his mother, creating a tumultuous household. This unrest ultimately resulted in his being sent off to school in Anglia, a decision made in hopes of finding structure in his chaotic life. Leandre entered a vast and bustling world, a small fish in a sprawling pond, where teachers of every sort swiftly sized him up. Initially, he struggled through the growing pains of adolescence, but eventually he discovered a passion for chemistry that lit a spark within him.

On his thirteenth birthday, he received an invitation to join the prestigious Viridian Academy, a path that would follow in his father's footsteps. However, harboring a deep-seated resentment toward his dad and the Order he blamed for stealing his childhood, Leandre turned down the opportunity. This decision sent shockwaves through House Delmotte, igniting rumors that he might falter without the Order's support. Undeterred, he redirected his focus to academics—his first true love—tuning out the clamor around him.
Before long, Leandre emerged as a celebrated chemist, his groundbreaking concoctions far surpassing those of his peers.

His talent didn't go unnoticed, and he was continually advanced in his studies. He carved out a niche at the intersection of alchemy and technology, devising innovative solutions to pressing real-world challenges—most often of a military nature. During his young adulthood, as conflict raged abroad, his team began to use Chemtech, drawing inspiration from the infamous Allar of old and enhancing it with their own insights. For a brief time, his life seemed stable, marked by achievement and ambition.

Everything changed during a fateful visit to Regalia, where darkness descended: his mother was brutally murdered before his very eyes. This horrific event shattered Leandre's hard-earned successes, leaving him haunted by the loss of his closest confidant—his best friend, his mother. In a rage, he cursed Regalia and the horrors that festered within its shadows.

After earning his degrees in chemistry and engineering, he vanished from the tapestry of Aloria. Whispers spread—some said he drowned his sorrows in drink abroad, while others speculated he had become a reclusive ghost. Yet, the truth was far more intriguing: he roamed the lands, investing his wealth in physical trainers, mastering the art of roguery and combat, honing skills that would prove essential.
When he eventually returned under the Delmotte banner, he wore a carefully crafted smile and adopted the polished mannerisms of a noble lord, hiding the storm of vengeance brewing beneath the surface. Years passed, but the shadow of his mother's killer loomed large, the perpetrator still at large while the streets of Regalia ran red with blood. As the Crown City became ensnared in a web of disillusionment and political strife, Leandre resolved to take matters into his own hands, determined to reclaim justice and restore a sense of order to the city he once cursed.
