A young man, he had high hopes for the city; he looked to serve a lord or wealthy man and looked to find company in another. He had very little luck in either of those. Born to a commoner Claith family in Brissaud, Laurence was raised a middle child to various other brothers and sisters. Whilst common, his parents, particularly his father, had kept their family life comfortable. Each male child was tutored in their preferred choice of combat or further education, while the female children were taught how to cook and to take care of their home. Lorry sought several things from life. To find a partner, To earn a good, honest living, preferably within a guard, To grow his beard to the fullest of its potential. Visual Information // Eye Color: Grey-Blue, Hair Color: Copper Orange, Hair Style: Combed thought untidy, Skin Color: Pale pink, Clothing: Militaristic, Height: 5 foot 11 inches. Spoiler Visual Information (Expansion) // The man’s facial features were mostly plain. He sported round eyes and small ears, and a scar that trailed from his rightmost ear along his cheek, stopping just beneath his chin. His hair was a bright, copper orange in colour and whilst he seemed to put time and care into keeping it tidy, it always seemed to appear unkempt. His beard was much the same. It was trimmed neat and often combed through, but it had the appearance of one that never had any attention dedicated to it. Lorry stood at just under six foot tall. He was well built, thanks to his years of schooling, and he was proud to show that off. He sported the regular amount of body hair applicable for a typical Ailor male, and otherwise offered nothing to note. He had various nondescript scars littering his thighs and forearms, but none were overly dramatic. Smart, tidy outfits would be common for the man. He wore a mix of Leutz style clothing in imperial colours. His clothes were often decorated in some way with the unionist eye, and were always practical. The man had a deep, gruff voice. He had lost some accent of his homeland, and he spoke with a subtle stutter. It was subtle whilst speaking in common, though in Alt-Regalian it was more obvious. Personality and Abilities // First Paragraph: Joyful and friendly, Lorry was a man who acted larger than life. He was always open to conversation from whatever and whoever, and was more than willing to carouse and drink with strangers or friends alike. He rarely ever came across as serious to strangers, unless he was found in conflict. He had a crude sense of humour, though, and his loud personality might potentially be off putting to those who did not know him. To the fairer sex, this did not differ. Women were not spared the loud personality that was Lorry. Second Paragraph: Lorry has two main anxieties. The first was that he feared running out of money before he had the ability to earn more. He did not wish to appear a failure to his family. Second, he feared he would die before he had found his other half. Whilst being a middle child himself meant he inherited nothing from his parents, it meant that he felt the need to prove himself, and how better to do that than to build something of himself that he could pass down to his firstborn son, should he marry? Otherwise, he's confident in himself and what he can offer, and generally was very happy. Third Paragraph: Lorry had no real tight relations with his kin. The males had been raised fairly separately, each being distributed to various locations to pursue their schooling. Lorry had been no exception. He still maintained contact with his mother and sisters, as most of them remained together at his family home. Otherwise, he was fairly distant. Friends and lovers were another story. Open and outgoing, Laurence was louder than life around those he considered close. Whilst he had made no strong ties within the capital currently, he's more than happy to attempt to build those bonds. As for lovers, he was very weary to form a tight bond. He aimed for instead, casual meetings that sated carnal desires. Fourth Paragraph: Good to the highest degree. He would break no laws knowingly though, he'd admit he did not know every law Regalia had to offer. He was the type of person that would offer help to the little lady that needed it, or would defend those otherwise incapable of doing so themselves. This was all despite race, as he believed everyone and every creature had their purpose. Spoiler Fifth Paragraph: On religion, Laurent had since drifted away from his faith. He found that it benefitted him in no way, and found that those of a religious background, were less than savoury characters. On nobles, he held them in high regard. Those of nobility either directly or indirectly earned their place, and as such they should be treated highly. Spoiler Weaknesses // Lacking Agility: Given Laurents overall build and stature, it was safe to say that he lacked the agility that some others boasted. Particularly when fighting, it was clear as day that the man struggled to keep up with those trained of the finer combat styles. He also lacked a certain grace that comes usually with agility. His footsteps were heavy, and he sounded more like a boulder falling down a hill when walking quickly, or running. Egotistical: An ego twice the size of the man it belonged to, Laurent was more than happy to boast about his achievements, no matter how great or small. It generally led him to stating that he was better than some, or that he could perform certain tasks better than others. It isn't the most charming of personality traits but it's something that came to Laurent naturally, and without thinking. Hedonistic: Laurent pursued the good things in life, be it drink, women or money. He often relished in those things that brought him pleasure, and more often than not, paid the price. From this weakness came others; a weakness for a pretty face, or a weakness for gambling, or a weakness to the taste of alcohol. Anything that gave him a sense of pleasure. Spoiler Personality and Abilities (Expansion) // Quirks and Skills Lorry was a mumbler. Be it a song or just words, he was often found muttering, talking to himself. Inherited from his talent for pastries, Lorry was generally a decent cook, though his stills certainly favoured desserts and the likes. He could also juggle! Round objects only, mind. Likes // Carousing: This was a repetitive thing when it came to describing Laurent, but it certainly was something he enjoyed doing. Out of pursuit of pleasure in life, he was not shy when it came to talking, drinking and partying. Cooking: It was one of the finer skills he had acquired from his mother, albeit to his father's distaste, but Laurent enjoyed the art of cooking and, of course, the art of eating it. Animals: All creatures great and small. What was not to love? Smaller animals were there for play or for companionship whilst the others were there for work and for transport. They were wonderful creatures. Dislikes // Sea travel: Crossing the waters was perhaps one of the most difficult thing Lorry had to ever do, to arrive in Regalia. He hated not being on solid ground. Killjoys: Those who denied others fun for their own sake and those who could not take a joke. He had no time to spare for those sorts of people. Politics: Lorry wasn’t a book-smart man. He acted out of strength than smarts, and was more than happy to avoid politics entirely if he could. Spoiler Relationships // NPC Mother, father and several undefined siblings, one bastard child. Characters Frankie Laurent @Milkqy “We share a name. Drink?” Laurent had met the woman once, and had taken an interest in her… temporarily. He had admittedly cast her aside for interest in another, and regretted not getting to know her more. Ivar Magnusson @JoyShake “Blonde, handsome, kind. Be mine?” Laurent met Ivar on chance whilst undertaking a job. He found love at first sight, or was it lust? If given the chance, only time would tell. Life Story Birth to Early Childhood: Born in Brissaud. A middle child to a somewhat well off commoner family, Raised in a very general Claith household, Drifted interests between mother and father, between learning to cook and learning to fight, Mostly ignored, forgotten about by his father, so sought after his mother and sisters for family compassion, Began taking interest in animals, particularly horses. Childhood to Teens: Continued to learn how to cook, taking on desserts as his main interest, Enrolled by father into his chosen school of combat at the applicable age, its location meant he could reside close to home, For recreation he sought out a stables and began learning how to ride a horse, as well as found a tutor to learn dance, Remained in contact with his mother and sisters via letter, though did not do the same with his father. Teens to Adulthood: Chose focuses and favourites in recreation. Cooking was where he spent most of his time and development. His love for horses and dancing came in close second, Took to Regalia after completing his Lion Pelt education, Mother ensured Lorry was settled. Sent him funds for support, Found it difficult to settle. He imperialized; cast aside his Claith name for Laurent, Found a love for parties and socializing, once his confidence had developed, Lorry created a bastard child, Struggled to find employment. Grew a beard.
