    Personality and Abilities

    • First Paragraph: Karsten’s seen as, at first glance, a mildly careless figure in attitude, yet heavily opinionated when chatter begins. His opinion on strangers are underwhelmingly low and he doesn’t have much respect for them. Should he know them or otherwise be put under circumstances where he was forced to know them, his attitude would flip entirely. He’s very calm, cool and collected around friends and family alike. Word about the Velheimer is drastically differed between commoners and nobility. His ideals are sometimes radical and he feels he has no time for anyone despite the amount he spends at the local tavern.

    • Second Paragraph: The Haagenvig has a healthy conscious, showing little signs of mental instability. For the most part, he is certain with his actions. You will never see Karsten hesitating unless it’s in the moment. If he judges something wrongly, then he isn’t afraid to receive the appropriate punishments if caught.

    • Third Paragraph: Karsten is humble and lighthearted when it comes to interacting with his family. He treasures his relationships with his relatives to maintain a strong bond with his family. Karsten treats strangers with caution, but otherwise remains passive when talking to them. As he was raised with family around him, he’s accustomed to being passive towards them. He has had both good and bad interactions with strangers, which is why he remains on his toes.

    • Fourth Paragraph: Torkild and Frida, Karsten’s parents, rose him with good morals. He was exposed to an accepting, fair environment, so he has a sense of justice. He highly values what he has and understands his responsibility toward it. He can forget the details of right and wrong, but understands the general basis of it.

    Life Story

In the Drixagh province of Gästrelänvatnan, Karsten Haagenvig was born to Torkild and Frida Haagenvig on March 10th, 271 AC. Growing up, he was an avid playmate of his older brother Bjorgulf. He’d typically stick around his brother until he’d start learning how to be independent. Karsten made good friends with the second son of his family’s mainline, Valbrand. The two were alike, in the way that they were energetic and playful. Once his oldest sister Merete was born, he and her would almost seem magnetized to each other.

Karsten showed interest in warfare, more so fighting at his young age of 13. By now his fun would revolve around physical activities such as wrestling, roughhousing, and sometimes hunting small game. His father Torkild insisted he take on the path of a warrior, to which he did. He’d take private lessons on how to use the common skagger axe from his father to prepare him for the School of Skagger. Trying to join the Velheim school was quite difficult, which was proven due to the small amount of Skagger berserkers. Despite the first test Karsten had to take to join the School of Skagger proved strenuous, he still passed and would begin his emotional and mental tempering as a Skagger. He was now inducted in the School of Skagger at age 15 in 286 AC.

The first years spent training as a Skagger didn’t really bother Karsten, although to him he’d claim it to be the hardest part of learning the methods of a Skagger berserker. At this point, the man who took on Karsten as his apprentice brought him to the Crag to be taught there. Karsten’s fighting skill became more apparent; fortunately being trained in the Crag meant he would get training from skilled teachers. Later on, he’d receive his pair of Skagger axes to learn how to use. He already comprehended the basics as he trained inconsistently between ages 13 and 14. Spending a lot of time practicing the combat style of School of Skagger and giving it his own small twist, he’d show quality fighting very quickly. Years passed by which were composed of daily training in the school, and frequent visits to family and friends. By now, he knew how to utilize the Skagger berserking, and had been on many missions for the order. When he was 24, his tribe was attacked by another tribe named Skaloekr. Karsten was employed by the current family head, Osvald, to defend the tribe until he’d fall down. He managed to come out the skirmish with a few lacerations and bruises; for the next few weeks, he’d stay put in the tribe.

The raid that took place on his tribe in 295 AC kept Karsten busy repairing the tribe’s walls, defenses, and whatever they could do to prevent something like it happening again. He returned to his Skagger training a month or so after, beginning to reach the end of his training. Karsten faced one last trial to become an expert in the school. He managed to pass the test, receiving his ceremonial tattoos to identify his participation in the school in 301 AC. He spent the next few years studying more peaceful and passive matters such as learning how to be a diplomat, and learning tactics and the like. He went through the morbid cultural genocide that Montagaard caused. A few months after the genocide, he’d travel to the capital city of the archipelago alongside Valbrand’s son Aksel. The ship he was on was stopped by Calemberger watchmen, postponing his entry into the city. He’d make it there on March 19th, 306 AC, knowing that there were many things to expect out of the city.
