Core Concept

• Karl is a resourceful Rank-Knight of the Viridian Order, and member of the Hohenfels Chapter. Born in a stable, Karl has a love for horses, and is a good-natured and well-meaning individual, however he often struggles to balance what he thinks and feels to be right and what is expected of him at the same time. Despite being an accomplished warrior, his past demonstrates his moral fragility and his capability to lower his value in honour, when those he loves become vulnerable. He is a Unionist with Protector Gods Elia and Leona his chosen patrons.

Appearance Information

• Karl stands at 6'0'' (183 cm) and carries a muscular body build. His hair is oak brown in colour and often kept short for practicality reasons, while often adorning a close-shaved stubble over a full beard. His skin is a lightly tanned porcelain colour and he carries several scars from his trials and tribulations, though often hidden beneath his attire. His facial features are sharp and his eyes are a dull brown tone. He is typically seen adorning Viridian armour, or traditional militaristic-style Wirtem clothing in various shades of green, silver and black.

Life Story / Plot Hooks

• Karl was born in 287 A.C to parents Otto and Nancy von Elsner in the village of Ockenheim, a tributary village to the city of Calemberg.
• His father was a Bloodcast hedge knight, who often spent months away travelling Regalia looking for gainful employment, whilst his mother was a stablemaster's daughter.
• Karl was not afforded an education during childhood, instead assisting his mother in the stables, whilst his father taught him the basics of swordplay whenever he was home.
• During early adolescence, his family became sick from an illness which swept across the village, leaving the family impoverished with no income, forcing them to sell off the majority of their horses.
• The young Wirtem thus turned to thievery and poaching to provide for his starving mother and younger siblings whilst his father was still away on business.
• After several weeks, Karl was noticed carrying the carcass of a deer in the surrounding woodlands by locals, and was reported to the Calemberg guard, eventually being caught in the act and taken for punishment.
• Whilst being escorted to Calemberg by the guard, they were halted and he was brought before a young noblewoman, Gabrielle Typhonus, who had been out riding. She had him released, but put him to work in the stables in the Typhonus estate as punishment.
• During his time working in Calemberg, he was often looked down upon by those more privileged than himself, with several aristocrats' sons picking fights with him, though often ending up defeated, not knowing he had been taught to fight.
• His father returned and came by the Typhonus estate asking after his son. Not willing to see his son turn into a simple stablehand, he offered his services to the Typhonus family in exchange for his son to join the Viridian Order. Although bemusing at first it was eventually agreed, given the boy's displays of combat.
• As such, at 13, he was sent to join the Viridian Order, being trained by Rank-Knight Sera Ulrich Einhorn throughout the duration of his training.
