Life Story Inside a recently dug alley that formed part of the many sprawling, cavernous halls of Tohn Valeer, Ilvarai’ilo was born to Faomilan and Ismaila Zisslau; a Ka-Maraya pair who’d returned to Tohn Valeer after a profitable life as Allar slave traders who focalized their product-searching on the nearby Hadaria state of Hal Promonth. His parents were not transparent with the nature of their previous work, and simply guided the child under the false pretenses that they’d been cartographers. They convinced him by showing him maritime maps that detailed slave-trade routes, justifying it as their own work to “help sailors find their way”. Upon breaking into his early adolescence after a sheltered childhood, the Ka-Maraya begun instruction under his father’s wing on shielding, heavy arms and hand-to-hand, close-quarters combat. His father had once aided in the efforts to undo Haat-Maraya presences in Tohn Valeer, and had practiced traditional techniques along with developing his own to remain out of reach from their whip-hair. This is a practice he upholds to this day. Naturally, his father expected he maintain tradition. To maintain order, various Vaultmen in Tahn Valeer had set up illicit task-forces to prevent Haat-Marayan presences wherever they may be prevented. Ivarai'ilo enlisted under a rich, highlt-opinionated El-Marayan who'd garnered wealth off clearing areas of Haat-Marayans, be it through diplomacy or outright fights for territory. It seemed he was much better at the former, and Ivarai'ilo grew jaded and cynical over the many years he spent merely training in other forms of weaponry. The richman ended up making a special company of soldiers, all of whom were either discipline problems or were otherwise unpopular, and of course, this included Ivarai'ilo and his father. The company was under the command of a designated freedom fighting Ka-Marayan called Zissifilo, who was out of favor with the El-Marayan and desperately wanted to get back in his good graces. The soldiers quickly realized that everyone in the unit was considered to be a problem, or underperforming. In defiance, they dubbed their group the Miscreants, and spent many years doing the dirty work of in-nation combat. In one of these brawls, along the outskirts of Tahn Valeer, the group was ambushed by rogue Kathar and Haat-Marayans alike. Zissifilo, instead ordering retreate, immediately spun his horse around and fled. The soldiers, panicked and disorganized, tried mimic him and run away, but very few survived. Ivarai'ilo was one of them. His father, and many of his friends, were not. This nurtured his current distrust of military and lawful authority, knowing they're as much cowards as the soldiers they commandeer. Ivarai'ilo took it upon himself to ensure the well-being his group by appointing himself as leader, with other's support. With very little supplies and no idea where to go next, the remaining soldiers carved paths through the surrounding forests, falling one by one to the wildebeests and brigands that lived there. When Ivarai'ilo finally found shelter in the form of an Allar slaveship, he was half-starved and wearing clothes and armor crudely patched together out of several different leathers in order to fit his much larger frame. He joined the crew, working to keep the slaves in line. Suspect that the El-Marayan richman had intended all along for the soldiers to die in the incredibly dangerous outskirts, Ivarai'ilo decided that he would let Ivarai'ilo Zisslau die. He now called himself Ivan, a name given to him by an Ailor ship-hand who found his full name too troublesome to pronounce. Many of his formative years were spent onboard, where he grew fond of song and dance. Aiming to reform himself, he abandoned the ship after some year's work at a port in Hallonq, Daendroc. Conscripting himself to the Assaltadors found therein, Ivan spent a brief tenure committing crimes of all calibers alongside Daendroquin-- and, to his surprise, some Skyfallen Marayan that'd been the result of the Haat-Kathar eggheist. One of these, a Nol-Marayan named Llamyrl, although going by Lavada, became his most trusted compatriot and lover. In time, both experienced the moral toil crime takes on the psyche. Amassing what little money they had, they got on the same slaveship Ivan had initially abandoned at a discount and hitched it all the way to the Crown Isle. Presently, Ivan struggles to find work beyond violence despite seeking to refine himself, and tries his best to uphold his woman's wishes to avoid crime at all costs.
