Ivan was separated from his parents for prolonged periods of time starting from the age of 5, and was taught by the Elders on the Avanthar way of life, as well as survival skills for living on the Plains. Once introduced to the Avanthar Pantheon of Eight, Ivan was drawn to Baënveka, the Raider, and followed the deity in full until recent events. He was drawn in by the stealthy nature of the deity. Around 8, Ivan captured a horse to call his own, a Casecabillas Stallion, as all Avanthar are expected to do before turning 10. At age 15, his schooling with the Elders came to an end, and upon entering his Chävan years, began training with the Pröta’ll to hone his skills with the Avanthar axe, as well as on horseback. He also during this time began practicing with a traditional Avanthar composite bow, likewise learning how to wield from horseback. Ivan also in this period developed a taste for Tabacca Leaf, becoming addicted to the herb, and becoming an avid smoker and upon reaching 25, Ivan travelled across the Plains meeting other Bands and Tribes. Once completing this journey, his beard was braided, signifying him as a warrior amongst the Avanthar. Early Adulthood While in his early adulthood, Ivan continued honing his skills with the axe, by primarily participating in guerilla warfare and raids with his people, against nearby Eronidas settlements. Ivan sustained a severe wound to his left eye during a hunt as well, after another Avanthar failed at shooting at an Ularen Lion, the beast charged down Ivan slashing his left-eye before Ivan was able to kill it with a piercing blow from his axe. Following this, Ivan took time off from hunting, and instead began finding other ways of passing the time, and began developing a gambling and alcohol addiction. As a result, he fell in with some shady characters and began developing a knack for criminal tendencies, mainly that of pickpocketing. Over the subsequent years, Ivan returned to raiding and hunting, however, always maintained a somewhat close relationship with the underworld. Late Adulthood and War In 295 A.C Ivan was part of the Ranger Crisis, riding to the help of the Cielothar and Yanar in the hope to prevent the Ailor expansion into their territories. He helped set alight the newly built homes and lands of the Ailor colonists. Ivan participated in guerilla warfare against the Eronidas who had entered the Ularen Wastes, and was part of the mass encirclement of Ailorian forces before the peace was struck between the Horde and the Empire. In 302 A.C the Elven War broke out and Ivan used the ongoing conflict to his advantage, performing rogue jobs for his underworld contacts and ended up joining a crime syndicate in the process. He never strayed far from his roots and raiding ways, and Ivan was eventually booted from the syndicate when he was caught forging the numbers and stealing from them to aid those who were suffering in his tribe. The syndicate thugs tried to capture him, but the Avanthar slipped out of Daendroc and set forth to Regalia, to see what the Empire had to offer by way of opportunities. First Time in Regalia Ivan arrived in the capital in 306 A.C and joined the Black Mares, as a mercenary and gang-member. He helped participate in interrogation and bribery for the gang, and performed his own jobs on the side. It is here that Ivan developed greater fist fighting skills, often getting into weaponless brawls. Events turned for the worst in Regalia, when the death of the gang-leader, prompted Ivan to relinquish his position, hearing later that they’d fallen and their new leader had been executed, with the remainder of the family fleeing to his knowledge. Following these events, and upon hearing that Emperor Cedromar I had obliterated the Royal Avanthar Encampment and some 5,000 Avanthar with it, Ivan left Regalia with a deep anger and emptiness within him. With civil war rife in his homeland following the collapse of order amongst the Avanthar, Ivan tried to help, however found himself fighting his own as much as the Eronidas, who’d seized the opportunity to attack in and amongst the chaos. Return to the City He decided that Daendroc was no longer where he belonged and returned to Regalia. Upon returning to the capital, he was attacked by several vampires and realised how much the underworld had changed since he was last in the city. One day he approached the Crookback Keep, but was met by a large alpha beast which soul-drained him, causing him to become infected with werebeastism. It later transpired this was Lorelei, the sister of his former gang-leader and then leader of the Crookback Pack, and she invited him to join the pack. Not long after this, Lorelei left the city, but he remained loyal to the pack and new alpha Anathiel, however he went quiet for a period and cut ties with the pack soon into her reign, eventually being cured of his affliction. After several months of keeping under the radar and returning to his former self, the Avanthar now has no regard for his shady past, and wants to begin a fresh in the city and return to the honour of being an Avanthar raider and warrior, not some drunken back-alley thug.
