Now just picture this: the Regalian Guard are policemen, nobles are important officials, the Golden Willow is a bar full of seedy people. The Modern age. My idea was simply to imagine what Massive would look like if it changed into a modern roleplay server.

This is more like real life. Because vampires weren't around in medieval times, so by your logic massive has no vampires. If it turned into a modern rp server, it would still have vampires and all of dem races.

Modernized? Hm.
Vampirics would have to be far more cunning....
There would be no races we have yet to find, nor no lands we have yet to explore...
Probably would have found a way to kill all the demons and such via nukes or such...
Poor District would be Vaporized due to Fahlein infestions immediately, rather than this ping-pong screamfest we had (And then just taking away the fun of it :I )...
Forced-curings and mental/physical rehabilitationary practices on vampirics...
Racism would either be rampant, or eradicated...
The place, in terms of how many people get their characters sick and/or diseased in manners other than vampirism and awareness of the scene and how people act might actually be believeable...
There would be a metric assload of more people of all races...
The city would be even more gigantic...
There would be believeable atheists....
There would be /for once/ believeable numbers of modern-idea people...
Hoodie and headphone and short jeans skins would no longer be a place to exercise your vocal cords with incessant whining...
People would instead turn to exercising their vocal cords whining about how OP guns are...
Complete Social/political Breakdown in terms of how Regalia is organized, despite your modernized changes (I think..)...

...Did I put too much thought into this?
 
The game that Massive uses would be switched to Arma I would say, since you can mod it and get huge maps like in DayZ, so you could make Aloria and stoof. And the PvP would be FPS style with guns though, obviously

If it was modern age, somebody could just take her out with a machine gun, it's much easier to get a machine gun than it is to get a flamethrower. Unless you consider a lighter and a can of hairspray a flame thrower.
 
So I would think that the main streets would be plastered with billboard, shops with Neon flashing lights, the Cathedral would stand empty (Is anyone even religious these days ;), I'm kidding of course), and docks full of Yachts and Cargo ships.
And there would STILL be violence everywhere you turned, now that people have Ak-47's and all, Unless it was like Australia... then we would all be fine.
 
I don't now if anyone's ever played a dark cyberpunk RPG by the name of Shadowrun...
 
Uhm..It'd be like the movie Elysium where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and the rich live in heaven and the poor in the deepest and darkest depths of hell. xD The middle-class and Middle Earth have been annihilated >;D
 
Police brutality might be a problemo, considering the Guard and other groups beat up people much more that they should...
Because you all have to kick the person's skull in. But then again, they do deserve it. Damn heretics.

Then Phon would be most likely a dual-smg toting old detective. But then again I used to be like that in another RP ccomunity. That picture is a remnant of it.

Then the Night Owls (or once Midnight Felt) could still walk around in their fancy 1920's fashion. Because it got invented a long time ago. <3

Flamethrowers are not particularly hard to make yah know. Ones that don't blow in your face do take some thought, but not a stupid amount of effort.

If it was modern there'd probably be need for more energy and fuel. Assuming Aloria isn't sucking the Void dry of magical powers to fulfill its energy requirements, that most likely means more deforestation for mines, resources, or even just for farmland. Yanars would go extinct :|

Other than that I'd imagine it'd be like Legend of Korra, modern life with magic woven into various aspects. There's gonna have to be crazy control over use of magic.
 
Well actually, I was in a modern Aloria roleplay once, and the Archdemon had been destroyed in it, through time. Vampires were legal, because they were no more mindless killers, or rather, they lost their bloodlust. So I think in a modern aloria, this would be the case.
 
I think in modern Aloria, Dwarves will rule all with a Ironfist and of course a Nuke. As Dwarves would most likely make the nuke.
 
You kidding? We'd all be dead by then because of Void Invasions and whatnot...

Assuming otherwise I think there'd be a number of alliances between races:

Elves + Yanar = The Green Alliance - Ecowarrior nation that seeks to preserve what's left of the worlds forests.
Orcs + Humans + Qadir = The Industrial Bloc - Heavily polluting, warmongering nation that seeks only to better itself.
Dwarves + Dakkar + Mekket = The Subterranean Kingdom(s) - Extremely advanced, but small, nation(s) located in Ellador.
Tigran + Thylan + Naga + Maiar = The Beast Clans - Roving clans of 'beast races' that are similar to gypsies. No central government.
Chi'i = Extinct - Their bloodlines were too thin and their bodies too weak to survive into the modern era. (or so we think, dun dun dun)
Vampires + Undead + Demonic = The Mob(s) - Organizations that commit crimes across the world and are headed (and usually manned) by the unholy.

The Green Alliance and Industrial Bloc would be at war with each other almost continually due to their opposing viewpoints, while the Subterranean Kingdom(s) would trade with both and keep the international economy alive. The 'Beast' races (Naga, Tigran, Thylan, Maiar) would be nomadic (or enslaved) and travel from one major powerhouse to another. The Chi'i would be extinct. The 'unholy' beings would be living it out in the underside of most cities/nations.

Just my opinion on the matter.

Alternative ending: only Orcs (or Humans), Maiar, Dakkar, and Undead survive due to the three races being the strongest (all around) in their environment and the Undead being, well, what happens when people don't completely die.

Don't be too sure - the US rebelled from the British Empire with the aid and support of France, but in the modern era the US has closer ties to the UK than to France. Anything is possible, and when you consider that the Dakkar and Dwarves both live underground it seems logical that the two races would, by sheer inability to survive alone against such powerful nations as the ones I imagine, be forced to work together or die out together.

Urs don't have a Lore Race page, so I had to assume they don't technically exist. If they do drop them in with the rest of the Beast Races.

It would help to look up at this bit. ^ I was saying that around the modern age Regalia would have put at least 1-2 other races to extinction, undoubtedly some of the animal-based races. I didn't mention anything about reality or disappearing without explanation. I said the majority would be gone.

YES YES I have played ShadowRun! Tabletop RP! It was fun as hell! I ended up being a hairy dwarf that survived by pumping various intoxicating substances into his body 24/7 and due to such, was one hell of a wrestler because I lost the ability to feel /anything/! I also had two large bulges in my lower abdomen, as they were not dwarf kidneys, they were troll kidneys. I also seemed to have an innate need to charge at anything that moved blindly.
...That aside, I believe that's more futuristic, not Modern.
 
Oh... oh crap... suddenly becoming a dictator seems so much easier with modern technology... add that to the fact that regalia currently holds a monopoly on... well basically everything......... crap.

My prediction: modern day Aloria is basically modern day Earth, but all under one ruler, and magic is also a thing. Other than that, there will be almost no difference.
 
Modern? Well, Jeff's arm would be robotic and he would carry a LOT of guns.
 
Aurélie would go shopping at a store like Forever 21. Or maybe a boutique.

Lillie would probably try to save innocent kittens from fires and/or risk her life to invent a cure for some kind of disease! Just kidding she'd never do that.
