For one, he rarely backs down from a challenge, meaning he is more capable of achieving things, however, it can often put him in danger. He uses his bold personality more for intellect, and not for physicality. For example, he would be more confident in a debate rather than a fight. Protective: Being in such a well known family, he is very protective of all of those he is related to. Though they may suffer their differences, Hugo always thinks the world of his family, doing all he can for them. He is up for anything that can help his family, ready for everything that he needs to do. This really shows his Bold Character well. But as well as his family love, there is a sense of protection over other things. As to be expected, Hugo is very protective to his belongings, making sure they are all in perfect condition. His family often says that this habit sprouts from his cautious personality. As well as objects, Hugo is very protective of his pride and his reputation. But finally, he always makes sure that the people in his presence are safe, as he feels very responsible for those around him. It is clear that deep down, Hugo is a kind and caring soul, his love for his family expanding to the people that he meets. Anger: Perhaps Hugo's worst trait, longing for success and achievement can forge a rather 'sore loser'. Hugo's anger, originating from his desire for triumph, can sprout at any moment. Though it is abnormal for Hugo to burst out in anger over everyday things, it is often the building of anger that can be Hugo's downfall, letting out all his emotion and troubles from the past week or so. It should be noted, that Hugo's anger is a trait that only appears sometimes. Kind: Projected from his Family Orientated trait, Hugo has almighty kindness for most people he meets. It may be all an act to keep his family popular, but mostly the kindness is real. He tries to show his kindness over his anger, using it almost like a shield. He thinks: If he is always kind, there is nothing to be angry about. Although Hugo sticks by this a lot, he fails to realise it doesn’t always work. Over Analysing: Although Hugo tries to be kind to most people, his analysing personality can often get in the way. He will always examine a person as much as he can before becoming completely acquainted with them. Whether it's their Race, Gender or overall Presence, Hugo is very weary with new people. Until Hugo has come to a basic conclusion on a person, he will keep up his guard. Cautious: Hugo may be outgoing and brave, ready to greet most people with a pleasant smile, but he certainly isn’t stupid. With bravery must come caution, and Hugo most certainly has both. Similar to his judging trait, Hugo will examine the things around him with extreme detail, making sure everything is safe and secure. This trait is amplified when he is with his family, as we know he is very protective of them. Hugo can be quite snappy when he feels like there is danger, making sure he is ready to step up to the mark. Although he doesn’t like to admit it, Hugo definitely has some form of anxiety. Strengths Scholarly: Hugo was born with a wise mind, almost the mind of an old man. Intellect is something that has come naturally to Hugo, making him excel through his education. Hugo’s always had a greed for knowledge, reading books all the time, hungry for information. Hugo has a vast amount of knowledge, ready to be used whenever he needs it. Strength: Although it is uncommon for character like Hugo to have any strength, Hugo actually made sure he was not lacking any Physical advantages whilst he was studying. Hugo is stronger than the average man, though only slightly. When it comes to social encounters, Hugo can appear slightly menacing to some, due to his build. But Hugo tends not to fight. Charismatic: Sprouting from Hugo’s extreme confidence, he is very charming with people. Of course he holds back at first, but once he feels comfortable, he can talk for years. Hugo is known for: Flirting, Speaking Loudly and Telling Great Stories. His charisma is often useful for getting him what he wants, or perhaps getting him out of some bad situations. Weaknesses Emotional: As we know, Hugo can get very angry, and this anger will usually result in him lashing out. Whether it is with physical force or verbal, both will most likely end with someone getting hurt. It may not be seen as a weakness, but Hugo doesn’t like his over emotional feelings. Hugo feels a lot of the emotion his friends and family do, and it can really have a negative effect on his life. If he is trying to be polite but he knows one of his family members is going through a rough time, it just won’t happen. Talks to much: Being very confident and charismatic, Hugo is often critiqued for talking to much. This means he can miss things and not be paying attention, or perhaps just annoying someone. As hard as Hugo tries to control it, he just loves a good chat. Paranoia: It is known that Hugo is very cautious, and from that blossoms deep and dark Paranoia. Hugo often fears the worst in situations, maybe not showing it, but he always makes sure he is ready. His paranoia will sometimes cause panic attacks, that really leave him in a state. Spoiler: Likes and Dislikes Likes Tea: It’s simple: Tea tastes good and Hugo drinks it. He’ll often have a cup of tea to calm himself down, settle himself or maybe even get ready for something. Hugo starts his day with tea, and often ends it with tea. Knowledge: Having as much knowledge as possible is one of Hugo’s life ambitions. He thinks knowledge is the key to everything, and without it we would all be as useful as Brainless Wulongs! The Arts: Whether it is a show, music or a simple painting, Hugo will often take out time in his day to appreciate some form of entertainment. He simply loves it, and can’t get enough of it! Dislikes Rude People: Hugo has no patience for people who have no respect. He believes anyone who is rude to him or a family member, has the right to be punished! People Who Do Not Know Him: Hugo believes that most people, if not all people should know who he or his family is! He can get in quite the fuss if he finds out that someone is not respecting him as High Nobility! People Who Do Not Follow The Rules: Rules are set up for a reason, and if someone breaks them, Hugo believes they are disorderly scum! The family remains there for the time being 279AC, 8 years old - Returns to Ithania. 281AC, 10 years old - Family wealth struck by war tax due to the Chrysant war, family seeks new opportunities across the Empire, traveling around the different subjugated realms. Family travels to the Yang-Tzu isles, Hugo discovers eagerness for family success. 282AC, 11 years old - Educated in military matters, found the additional education very fun and wishes for more. Begins physical training and exercise. 285AC, 14 years old - Family returns to Ithania to tend their holdings. 286AC, 15 years old - Gets scholarship in further education, celebrates with many parties. Sleeps with a girl and gets her pregnant, she leaves. From then on he became very cautious of who he met. He spends the next few years rather lonely, and discovers deep and dark emotions within himself. 301AC, 30 years old - Returns to Ithania, welcomed with a great Banquet! His joy is quickly brought to an end when his sister collapses for unknown reasons. He feels very guilty and snaps at many of the guests, forcing them out of the event with shouting and screaming! Ventures to Regalia out of embarrassment. 302AC, 31 years old - Travels back to Ithania after word of his mother being ill. Spent the next two years serving by her side. 304AC, 33 years old - His mother dies and he manages the Ithania estate while most of the family moves to Regalia. Alright, lets do a dank Peer Review! First, you have some formatting issues: Do not add an extra space between entries. It makes it hard to read and makes it look messy. Likes and Dislikes, as they are not needed, should be in a spoiler The life story should be written in a paragraph format, not a timeline The writing is also very informal and seems to not take this seriously. While it is good to enjoy writing it, the tone should be more professional, getting rid of most contractions and the exclamation points. It also make the writing look messy Now, lets address content! You should elaborate more into what family success means. That is very vague and I have no clue what his ambition is. I think it is hard to be "Judging" and "Angry" while maintaining a sincerely "kind" attitudes. To me, these attributes sort of define someone that is not kind. I would try to rework these traits. You should also elaborate more on how the traits actually effect him in role play. Right now, the sentences are short are basically just reword the definition, or his mindset, a couple times. They lack content The same thing applies to strengths. More content instead of restating the same ideas is great. Also, I do not think you are using Agile correctly. Agile means he is able to move swiftly and easily, but you focus on pure strength. Try using a better word Your weaknesses and strengths should also be longer, three sentences minimum. And these should offer new content Your life story needs a definite re-do. Right now, it focuses on a single event every year, in a different timeline form. Although this is an original twist, it is not what we look for in a backstory format. After reading it, I feel I have no insight into the character. Instead, it should flow like a paragraph, and summarize periods of his life and important events so that one a reader could learn more about the character. It is also not important to know every time he travels, and how he feels about every event. For example, the fact he enjoys his nephews is not of utmost importance to the story. @Stark_Trek Review complete! 1. "Family oriented" seems like a strange personality trait, that could perhaps be replaced by another. You already have kind, so perhaps attempt to play off of that existing trait. 2. "Migraines" seem, at least to me, like a bit of a cop-out weakness. I doubt you will be actively portraying migraines in character, thus, I advise you come up with a new weakness that is more prevalent. Tag me when you have completed my edits. Pending!
