So, I've recently been informed that I potentially harassed a player to stop playing massivecraft. With the recent war with bridgeport, I was given the opportunity to raid, get allies involved to raid, and of course get raided. During the first week, we were raided a BUNCH and it mostly involved people getting into our faction home and potion room, which basically meant we had to noob around and try to block people up or something stupid like that. After that first week or two, we got some good pvp allies and starting raiding bridgeport. This usually meant we fought their PvPers, then winterless or deld would come and fight us back and then it would be more or less even-sided. After about a week of that, their PvPers became less and less active and I started to solo raid, avoiding actual PvPers cause I'm bad. Throughout the whole thing, I tried to be verbally agreeable and friendly, especially with bridgeport members, who predominantly didn't know that the war was going on until I had killed them a few times. However, as a general rule I kept most of the diamond items that I got. Some members of crypt, however, gave back items to non-pvpers or specific pvpers that were getting started. I was wondering how I should approach raiding, what the general norm is right now, and whether I should feel responsible for potentially harassing players off the server.

@Sevak @Winterless @Jalapeno690 @onearmsquid @Wooperr

From what I'm reading it seems fine to me. Not all is fair in love and war, and if you kill a person in survival then you get the loot. You can choose to give it back or keep it.
I don't PvP, and I won't pretend like I've raided all but one time (bout a week into the server move), but if you're at war with someone and they die, sucks to suck.

I guess it's a bit odd since Celetil and Bridgeport are neighboring factions, all I can say is may the best faction win. If you don't like the drama, move to a new location on the map. Raids are always gonna have drama in them when it becomes high stakes.

There is no rule agaisnt raiding players no matter how much gear they have or how developed the faction is.

Although there used to be a rule where you could only raid a faction for 2 hours UNLESS you was at war with that faction through a decleration thread (which would be cool if it returned imo)

As for thinking he left the server because of "harrasment" i doubt that.. If someone is getting that annoyed being raided they should just surrender and be done with it so the leader probably had some other reason for going inactive.

As for approaching raiding? you can do anything really f home camp, camp members, break into their bases using pearls through holes they have in the wall really anything although epearling through half blocks like glass panes iron bars doors etc is illegal so i wouldnt suggest doing that

The premise of your post is inaccurate.

You did not bully them off the server, you just didn't PvP them enough and they got bored, and left.

With raiding honestly all's fair, unless the defenders and attackers come to a set of "rules" such as no debuff elytras etc. Even then I take them with a grain of salt

Generally I would say don't kill new players but if you're at war it's fair

ok, thats a relief. I received inaccurate information then.
My question still stands, but I want to extend it to: Whats the best way to get the most out of raiding not-too pvp oriented factions.

Try to help out those your raid, yes this sounds weird but often times it is fun when you fight people are about the same level as you. Even if you are at war, never take things personal and always try to remain in good terms. :)

idk, thats what raptum did to me.
That is not the standard for constructive behaviour.

Well to be fair, I'm barely a week into the server and Raptum already declared war to my faction ( a few-days-old faction ) for not showing them my real-life work on a platform I didn't deem secure.

All of this while OOC as I was reacting to a faction leader's offer to hire someone to make a skin for him (I'm a designer specialized in pixel art). I even kindly agreed to do this for free until he requested me to send my previous work as a private message on the forum.

This is not very constructive either, definitely not noob-friendly (because I am noob on this server - my first faction server), and least of all roleplay nor mature. When things get personal like that and people use a game to get to your real-life job, especially after you've politely explained that professional work requires a professional setting, how could we qualify the behaviour in question? I'm a bit appalled this is tolerated. Even more as I was about to benevolently do someone a favour, and as I withdrew from the conversation, this person sent a war declaration to try and push me to expose works covered only by intellectual property.

Though I understand it is to be taken with a grain of salt when people take faction war personally, I believe there is a thin line not to cross between personal life, and character life. Factions and real-life duties are not related in any way. Blackmailing people through Minecraft ain't what I'd consider as ethical, and I'm pretty disgusted as a newbie to see things happen this way.

This post is barely a testimony of how wrong things can go, and how little respect may be shown to a player via factions (not talking about characters here - my character would be entirely fine with a fair, roleplay war).

I believe some rules should be put into place to prevent such abuse in the future, this really gave me a cold shower about the atmosphere on this server, that I really liked so far.

First of all, I enemied you because you were a WHITE NAME, I follow this procedure for EVERYONE. You're not special.
Second, Fube asked you for examples of your work, he wanted you to send a Imgur link or have them posted on these forums or over discord. STANDARD for most people on massive. YOU suggested Facebook and fube said that was sketch.

That is all that happened.

No one has declared war on you, it was a simple enemy done by myself.
Stop causing a fuss.

Hello Violettee, nice to meet you. Why the capital letters?

I indeed suggested either Facebook or Gmail when Fube asked me for my previous professional work, because these media do hold my name, thus ensuring intellectual property. What is the issue with it? As explained above, this is my job. Not just me breaking blocks in the evening because I have nothing better to do :)

I never pretended to "be special", however the coincidence of being enemied a few seconds after this conversation seemed a bit much to me. Especially given the tone used during the conversation, which I kept civil on my end until the war declaration was sent mere seconds after Fube left angry. After that, I did indeed (rather politely) comment that this war declaration was neither mature, nor fair-play. And I received no answer explaining the /f enemy didn't come from him.

Now if you wish to assure me that this has nothing to do with this whole story, nothing pleases me more. But you have to admit, this is a very confusing (and quite unlikely) coincidence.

By the way, I did remove the name of the player in my previous messages in order to not make too much of a fuss, as you put it. I also never pretended not to request for a more official platform myself, in fact I wrote it in the message you just quoted. The two of you blasting in here together in uppercase and singling me out on details I couldn't possibly know - because you wouldn't answer my questions in-game -, that though, is the definition of causing a fuss.

A simple explanation and kind words solve things much more efficiently.

As for what is standard for massive players, again you might wanna read that same message I just referred to. I am new here, and this is my very first faction server.

The capital letters are to put emphasis on those keywords in case you skimmed over them.

Me correcting you and fube liking my post isn't us "blasting in here", you're being dramatic.
As for singling you out? You just slandered "Raptum" I have ever right to defend my group.

details I couldn't possibly know - because you wouldn't answer my questions in-game

I never received any questions in game, (it's possibly I may have missed them if you did pm me) therefore I could not answer. What details could you possibly not know? That I enemy everyone? Kinda your problem jumping to conclusions.

Fube wanted nothing to do with Facebook or Gmail because that would also give out HIS name. The methods I mentioned previously exclude personal names hence why it is used across servers like this. Now what good is a professional if you don't have a portfolio you can display publicly? If your watermark or whatever it is you do to ensure your work can't be stolen includes your real name and you're scared to give that out, maybe consider choosing an anonymous name to work under with the public.
We also have rules against doxxing on this server but there's not much harm people could do with your name anyway.

Not sure how he ended up talking to you honestly because he asked for someone he could pay in Regals. We wouldn't pay anyone in real money to make a bloody skin.

however the coincidence of being enemied a few seconds after this conversation seemed a bit much to me.
Pretty sure it wasn't that soon after but I was made aware of your name, pressed tab to see if you were white or red yet and saw it was white and enemied.

It's not a War Declaration, War decs are something else. I meerly enemied you. It's really no big deal.

I did indeed (rather politely) comment that this war declaration was neither mature, nor fair-play.

Fair play? Mature? Mate this is Factions. You're supposed to Enemy or ally. Relations are a big part of the game. You also don't get special treatment just because you're new. I can enemy as soon as I like, as long as I don't RAID you to give you some time to set up shop.

Yeah well you made the mistake of outright demonizing Raptum. You've basically slandered us. What you wrote won't harm fube, it will all land on me, because I'm the only one that actively logs on. If people believe what you say I get it in the neck.
