    Backstory:

    109 AC: The Reign of Ragnair Valdemar
    Under the control of Jjol Ragnvald, Ragnair led his people peacefully along the coast of Nordligga. The Valdemar War party lived in relative seclusion for many years, delving and forming their own traditions within the culture yet still paying homage to Jjol Ragnvald. Ragnair was a kind but forceful Jarl of his people, settling on two main divisions of commerce. That being, Boat Building and Fishing. Mostly for internal supplementing however the occasional trader came wandering over or the neighboring lands would happen upon the land as well. However as time grew on and Ragnair grew older, his mind began to wander far from its original stability and he formulated a plan. He planned with his people to raid along the beach every village that they would happen upon for 6 months, and on the sixth month they would sacrifice it all to the cave of a bear to sate its hunger for another hibernation cycle. He felt this would give good luck to the village and admittedly some people agreed and followed with him. They raided four villages before Ragnair was defeated in battle by the war party of Bodarr Stigsson. Ragnair returned home defeated and worn from old age, his people losing faith in him completely, he died at the age of 94 after suffering a heart attack upon his throne. His wife Freya Valdemar wept over his pyre the entire time it was burning, her mind being lost in the ashes of the man who she once loved. She died the next morning, with her wrists slashed.
    189 AC: The Reign of Skald
    With Ragnair and Freya dead, their son Skald took up the mantle of the throne and begun his reign in the winter of 89 AC, just a week after his father had passed. In his reign he knew he had to preserve the legacy. So he took up a wife by the name of Greta Ousef, whose last name then changed to Greta Ousef Valdemar. This was before the time that the people of the Valdemar Village began a new custom of naming where no one acquired a middle name unless they survived a near death experience in which then they were named off of the experience. With this renewal of culture to the Valdemar Village Skald decided that to ensure that the people who he led would be safe and secure that they must expand to the nearby forest and build walls to ensure that nothing they didn't want let in, would come in. They then renamed the village, no longer simply identifying themselves as the Valdemar Village or the Village of the Valdemar but calling their land Midgal, after the name that Ragnair had for his axe. With this period of expansion and supplement, the Reign of Skald was a success, he died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 68 whereas his wife Greta led their people in the view of her husband for a few more years until she died at the age of 58. Between the two of them, they had three strong sons with three different views and wants of the world, Lief Valdemar, whose goal for the world was to explore the world and bring the family out of seclusion and to bring back riches from the far away lands. However when he did not return for such a long time it was assumed that he was lost at sea and dead, the ocean being his grave. Then there was Ivar Valdemar, a violent, angry man. All he wanted for the village was for the Valdemars' to rule Nordskag and bring fame and renown to the family and the people. He gathered the warriors of the village and set out over the ocean and went to raid the Qadir lands on Farah'deen. However in his blind rage he fell victim to a trap at a Qadir fort that crushed his legs and routed his men, he later died in his encampment screaming curses upon the Qadir and all those who lived within the desert. And finally, the Valdemar known as Olaf Valdemar, the reign of Olaf began when he was only 23 years old.
    257 AC: The Reign of Olaf and the Rise of Eirik
    The reign of Olaf started at the young age of 23 years old, being the youngest son and most likely to succeed at the job he took over as Jarl of Midgal. His first order of business was to solidify and create a shrine to the Gods so that they may gain the favor of them, especially since each of the other reigning leaders either lived hard lives and died horribly or were in the Gods favor for making things better. Olaf constructed a Shrine in the middle of town to the Gods and with this he attracted the attention of a young beautiful lass of Balltarc descent, her name was Stilga and she arrived on Midgal due to Olaf recently reopening trade agreement opportunities and calling on his friends to rejoin the dealings of the Village. The Longboats that carried Stilga across the coast to arrive at Olafs domain had taken sporadic bits of archer fire from the raiding Novilyud owned war party of Stig Falkur. Once Stilga arrived at Midgal she and Olaf would immediately become friends, this however angered Stig and led to him attempting to sack the village of Midgal, however due to the combined forces of both Stilgas longboat and convoy of tradesmen and Olafs own fighting men they fought back the War party of Stig in a mighty victory. As Olaf and Stilga grew older they found that their affection for each other was far more than just friendship and found themselves to be in love. They married a year after meeting and fathered their only son of Eirik. Upon his birth and after he was cleaned he was taken from the Hut and displayed in front of the Entire village for the townsfolk to see as Olaf shouted to his people the name of his son, Eirik. They responded with Eirik of the Valdemar and thus began the life of Eirik. Olaf taught Eirik to fight and live as he did, with the axes of Bashturr and the tattoos of the Berhednar, Olaf was a truly frightening man. When Eirik was 13 years old Olaf sent him to the School of Skagger (The Crag) to have him trained to be Berhednar. While Eirik was away Olaf did many great things for his people. He increased the borders of the village and turned it into a prosperous trading town. Midgal thrived in Olafs reign, and Olaf and then announced to the people that his wife Stilga was pregnant once more and that the Gods will praise the life or take it but he will fight till the end to ensure that they go through him before that happens. This outcry against the Gods in their glory traveled across the lands of Nordskag yet ceased when they arrived at the Mead Hall of Stig Fulkar. Enraged that Olaf challenged the Gods to take his second child he roused up his men and the men of neighboring villages, willing or otherwise, and set out on a three hundred man war party for the Trading Town of Midgal. Olaf received word of this and sent messengers to his friends and asked them to come to his aid in the defense of the city, the families of Borumir and Lothingul were the ones to come to answer his call however upon their readying they too were raided by smaller portions of Stigs party ceasing the movements of their war parties just enough to give an opening for the main force to attack Midgal with only the Valdemar people and Warriors to defend this. Eirik, off at the School of Skagger received word of this and rounded up the sons of Lothingul and his friends that he made at the Crag and ran off to aid the Village of Midgal, when they reached the edge of the forest they could see the flames of Midgal a mile away.
    Back in Midgal the warparty of Stig had broken in and began kidnapping and pillaging the lands and people, they reached the Chieftains hut and set a flame to its walls before moving in and kidnapping Stilga and Eiriks young sister Celina. Olaf fought valiantly nearly killing all of those who had broken in but the flames of his hut were to great and the large Oak beam that held it supported fell upon his back and cut him in half, slowly dying he roared an angry roar and the vision of his son appeared in the doorway, moving over towards Olaf his son tried to move the beam off of him, but even his own strength could not help. Olaf looked to his son with fading eyes as he said "Son yer' suppose ta' lift wit'ya back!"
    He would then cough out blood before saying to his son "Remember the way Eirik, and never lose sight of who ye' are. Les' ye' lose everyt'ing you've built.
    And with Eirik trying his hardest to pull the beam of oak off of Olafs back, he died underneath the burning embers of that support beam. With Eiriks father dead and this wave of new responsibility that washed over him he set himself straight and clearheaded, his gaze steely and his axes drawn he went to work. He exited the ashes of the hut and began fighting through the hordes of the enemy war party, his friends fighting along right beside him. When he reached the entrance to his village he saw the remainder of the enemy warparty outside, a war horn sounded and Eiriks own people, now rallied and the neighboring Villages now roused flanked Eiriks own men and stood with him, the sons of Folkri Lothingul and Bastag Borumir stood next to the newly named Jarl Eirik as he looked over the enemy units, Ivar Lothingul wielded his bow and jagged tipped arrows in the cold and Gundarr Borumir began chanting to himself before Eirik put his axes infront of them saying, " 'alt! T'is is my fiogh' come when I am dead."
    They both looked at him, wondering if this was bravery or stupidity that drove him forward, each step Eirik took his path became clearer. He yelled to them saying "Send ou'ta Champion te' face me!"
    An they did, a Mountain of a man clad in the furs and skins of his kills, animal or otherwise stood against him. This man was Stig Fulkar and he laughed a menacing laugh saying, "Ill fiogh' ya' but will yer' family be able te' beat my men?"
    He turned towards his men and nodded, they brought his mother and sister out in chains and began to sodomize them right infront of Eirik, this sent him into a ferocious rage. He charged forward at Stig seeking to quickly end this fight and he did. He cut Stigs head off with both of his axes and ripped into the mans back and performed a Blood Eagle to him at that very position. Stigs men looked to Eirik terrified before quickly becoming enraged at the disgrace Eirik performed on their leader. They killed Eiriks mother and sister and charged for him. Eiriks war party began to move forward but Eirik shouted "'old!" And they held their position looking worried between each other. Seven men rushed Eirik and tackled him to the ground, one waved their battle axe overhead but due to the blood in his eyes struck down on Eiriks abdominal area and got his axe stuck in the leather and muscle that was there. Eirik tightened his abdomen and thrusted upward piercing the man in the eye with the stick part of the axe blinding him, he used the distraction that caused on the people on his arms to bring them together, crushing their heads together as he sent fierce kicks into the guts of the people holding his legs, rupturing their stomachs and causing their stomach acids to burn them from the inside causing them a gruesome death indeed, the last man ran back to his War party and told them to charge for Eirik, but Eirik was pinned under the bodies of the people he killed and could not move, his strength leaving him and as the blood trickled out of his abdominal wound he closed his eyes and began to dream, he dreamed he was flying high over the battlefield from the eyes of a Raven, he flew his raven to a perch on an old twisted tree and looked to his own body. He saw his ancestors in a ghostly apparition standing over him and chanting his name. He saw his father, Ragnair, Stilga, Celina, and everyone of his familymembers who were dead, he did not see Lief within the group but his memory would not tell of such things at this moment. while he had blinked in this birds view he awoke with the juices of the mans eye he just pierced leaking onto his forehead. He using what seemed like a renewed strength broke free from the bodies, roaring a mighty roar as he did, his battle complete. His War party was surrounding him at this moment. They all thought that he was dead. They then began shouting his new title per the customs laid onto his family by Skald.
    "Jarl Eirik Valdemar the "Einhenjar!"
    They repeated this until the sun broke free from the horizon and bathed the crimson snow in light.

    Family Traits:
    Things that set the Valdemars apart from the rest of The World:
    The Valdemars are a generally secluded people, keeping only to what is theirs or what they want.
    They have Dirty Blonde hair that they leave growing until they are twelve where they shave the sides and braided it down the back of their heads
    .
    The Males and females of the House are generally close in height, all caught within the range of 6ft+ with a general enjoyment of a larger muscle mass.
    They are fiercely loyal to their friends, even if berated by the entire world because of a secret needing to be kept. They will fight for the ones who chastise them for their doings. Some might view it as stupidity while the Valdemars see it as just what must be done.
    The Heir will always be the oldest son of the current Valdemar Generation, this encourages long life and standing even thought the main occupations of the Valdemar revolve around Warfare and exploration.

    Helle Valdemar: Sister of Eirik Age: 35
    The Queen, The Terrifying, the vicious Valkyrie of a woman. She left the School of Skagger believing it was far to slow for her fast paced lifestyle, she had made a name for herself through avidly besting the males of the town in combat and spoken quarrels. Never ceasing to fail in most cases. Many rumors and legends revolve around her within hr village and the areas around. Most boasting of battles she has been in.

    Sebrina Valdemar: First Child/Daughter of Eirik Age: 19 @FoxFlare
    Sebrina is an overtly adventurous young girl. Taking the notes and studies of her Great Grandfather of Leif Valdemar she grew fond of the idea of exploration. Her aunt being supportive of her life choices allowed her to explore the world freely while her father was away gathering his education and skills at the School of Skagger. Her adventures left her trapped within Regalia until the reconquest of the Holy City.

    Ivar Valdemar: First Son (Second Child) of Eirik Age: 19
    Ivar is the eldest son and admittedly the strongest of the children. Taking his strength as a Berhednar to protect his family he has been seen detailing traits similar to the traits of his father in his youth. Ivar tends to like large groups and making friends and most women he meets he tries to make them feel as special as he possibly can.

    Skald Valdemar: Second Son of Eirik (Third Child) of Eirik Age: 16 @littleshep101
    Skald Valdemar would be a generally close minded individual. His knowledge seemingly unabashed by his views and political ideals he had chosen a path less combat oriented in life and more that of a thinker, while he does practice usage of his Axe and Shield he will only fight when the family goes together to do so. His disposition being of a smaller build than his siblings and father some might think he is disadvantaged by this and some may be right but it all depends on the situation, time, and people he is with.

    • Intelligent

    • Excellent Climber

    Thrain Valdemar: Third Son of Eirik (Fourth Child) of Eirik Age: 16
    The Youngest son to Eirik Valdemar, Thrain would be the most innocent version of his father. Being incredibly knew to the world outside of Nordskag and just barely surviving the voyage over the water from extreme cases of sea sickness. Thrain has begun to develop his Berhednar ability just as his father had told him and taught him.

    OOC Information:
    • All characters that are listed are able to be played currently and subject to further detailing once a person has chosen the character they wish to play.
    • A trial of one week will be held to ensure that the person playing the character is suitable.
    • TeamSpeak is requested
    • Skype is also requested but if you have neither you are fine.
    • There is no deviating from the Family ways or Behavior. It has been instilled in you since the moment you were born so to break that would be to break the character you have been chosen to play.
    • Activity in regards to these characters should be primarily Valdemar>Other characters you may play. Events will require major attendance when they are run by House friends. (Will inform of who they are in Skype chat when Applicable).
    • Family Meetings are mandatory for all those who are fully accepted into the family. They will be every Saturday at 5pm MST. (Mountain Standard Time)
    IC Behavior:
    Just because you are Northerners does not mean that all you are or ever will do is eat, drink, fight, and sleep. Here are just a few keys I us when I play Eirik that may help you when you play your character within the family.

    • Northern commands are law (i.e if you have a Northerner incharge of you, they are the voice you follow. If its a non Regalian you might follow their orders but if they conflict with a Northerners then you are not needed to listen to it. Unless they are Honorary Family Members who are not Northerners.
    • Every Northerner is Family, Kinsmen as its called. Now this doesn't mean you are best friends with every Northerner but there is just a sort of unspoken friendship when you find a Northerner in these parts.
    • The War party follows the commands of the Patriarch and those who he has leased his services to.
    • The Valdemar Family follow the Berhednar codes and treat them as law. (Read School of Skagger Rules to understand what we are and are not allowed to do
    • The Valdemars in general are meant to be kind people however if your character is ticked off and has validation behind it then unleash the Void upon thy foes.
    • The Valdemars hate the Undead and they hate Bullies. Deathlings, Vampires, and generally mean people are on the 'attack first' list.
    • The Patriarch is the head of the Family and in charge of the Family Council. The Matriarch is in charge of the inner workings of the family, managing interpersonal relations and any relationships that may spring up between a Valdemar and some other random person in Roleplay.
    • You only gain a title such as: Eirik the Einhenjar Valdemar, Sebrina the White Wolf Valdemar, Shae the Snowborn Wren: through near death or times of great strife. So if you nearly die and survive you get a title based off of the experience.
    • The First Born Male and the Last born Male are to go to the School of Skagger and train to become Berhednar. All others are trained with an axe and round shield unless taught otherwise.
    There are several Branch families that have aligned themselves with the Valdemar and or are attached via marriage. If you wish to discuss playing the Patriarch of one of these families mail me @GrandVitaMorte or find and /msg me in game at _Timer_.

    House Ousef (Straudsson): Bonded by marriage between Skald Sr. and Greta Ousef. The House of Ousef have strange customs regarding their voices based upon gender. The males all take a vow of silence upon their first meeting of a great warrior and generally offer up one son to serve the Valdemar for each generation that lives. The current Ousef attached to the Valdemars is Vigarr Ousef, the Mute Wanderer.

    House Falkur (Stigsson): Bonded by fealty and loyalty to the Valdemars due to ancestral grievances and the eventual death of Olaf Valdemar and Stig Falkur the families forged a peace between each other and Falkur swore loyalty to the banner of Valdemar to ensure that the wrath would not extend any further past their major defeat.


    House Lothingul: Bonded by Friendship, House Lothingul is a family have fast footed Seltai who are all trained primarily in archery and combat of that nature. They have befriended the Valdemar family due to the ties established between them and Skald Valdemar in the past which has blossomed from business partnership to iron bonded friendship swearing to fight for the Valdemars for generations to come.

    House Borumir: Bonded by Loyalty, House Borumir is made up entirely of Ellon Mages, the ways being passed down from generation to generation. They are bonded by Loyalty due to their close proximity to the Valdemars and how the Valdemars were so kind to them and allowed them to hunt in their woods that the House Borumir created a settlement a few miles west along the coast and worked to serve the Valdemars for their kindness. This House tend to take up the forms of their Ellons more often than actually being themselves.

    Marriage Rules:

    Similar to that of any normal Noble family, if the female of the family is found to be attractive to a potential suitor the potential suitor must go to the Patriarch of the family and ask for permission to court the one in question.

    Those who covet the Marriage Rules are made to receive punishment forthright. This includes but is not limited to the castration of the male and the locking of the chastity belt of the female until the time has been found to be proper.
