Noble House Moselberg is a relatively new addition to the Regalian scene, headed by the Ex-Duchess Charlotte Victoria Moselberg. The family was founded by Charlotte in 303 AC to govern the duchy of Morgwenn, using an ancient claim through a family that was absorbed by house Walerius. While the Lady started out on her own, she has garnered quite the fame over the first months she spent in the capital under the new name, reaching from plays ridiculing the Arch Chancellor and his family to essays and books written that were read even by the Emperor himself.

The family gathered a fair degree of infamy as well, heading the Lily Cross Order and standing up in direct opposition to Thomas Kade, charging him with numerous accusations. The family name remained unscratched, and perhaps even more spoken about than before, yet new rivalries arose between the older noble houses and house Moselberg, fueling Charlotte's campaign to break a supposed status quo of jingoists that 'corrupts' imperial politics.

Charlotte founded the Silver Key Society, a late dining club where she technically played 'pretend' with Hans and the rest of her friends for a makeshift noble court in the middle of Regalia. Other members of the peerage perked a weird brow at the club and the influx of members from all races, and wondered whether there was something more behind the society than what is shown to the outside.

The truth was revealed very early: the duchess launched a full-scale political invasion against her foes using the Silver Key and the Lily Cross as support base. She saw the dissolution of the Violet Order and the conviction of house Coen to a hefty fine, as well as the ascension of her Silver Key Society into a charter-above-all-guard-charters with rights to investigate and dissolve the others.

That was, however, the pinnacle of house Moselberg's influence and power. The matriarch grew ever more power hungry and sealed dire pacts with more hideous groups in the sewers. After establishing connections to void cults, vampire covens and even the Arken of the sewers, the family aimed to triumph in a full-scale war that erupted between the many charters in Regalia.

Fortune no longer smiled on the family. Though the Silver Key Society managed to incriminate and dissolve the only mercenary charter, its confrontations with the Crimson Inquisition led to a showdown between the charters in the Society castle, after which each were taken prisoner and interrogated. The family managed to remain largely intact and titled through throwing the patriarch of one vassal gang-house to the stake, framing & blaming all crimes on him.

This led to the current legal situation of all Isldar demoted to marked citizenship, the departure of house Silevon from the Silver Key Society and eventually the second Moselberg trial during which Charlotte was given blame for the dissolution of the Violet Order. The family was fined to a steep amount of gold to be paid over the next couple years, and for Charlotte to investigate the Shendar cult she had previously aligned with.

The woman and her cousin did not, however, remain in Regalia. The two returned to Morgwenn to escape responsibility and to disappear from politics. The curse of the Bleeding Crown soon consumed the family. House Moselberg lost their titles during the Bone Horror Crisis and eventually most of their wealth the following year. In early 306 AC, the two Moselberg cousins returned to the capital to make ends meet, bankrupt and faded into irrelevance.

Novus Ordo Seclorum

(A new order of the ages, official motto)

This is the motto on the family crest, referring to the Common Cause and the quest of humania.

Carpe Noctem
(Seize the night, secondary motto)

This is a family motto that refers to seizing opportunities that others ignore, opposing 'carpe diem', or 'seize the day'.

To learn from yesterday, survive today and prosper tomorrow
(Family toast)

This concludes house Moselbergs concept of time and perception. Past is to be used as a pool of experience and knowledge, but should not be lived on. Present is the shortest, a mere moment always where concentration should be focused on self preservation and survival. Prosper implies a positive future, which returns to an optimistic worldview for the family.

Shake the board
(Family saying)

This is the attitude of house Moselberg when it comes to politics within the Empire. Some seek to win, some seek to lose. Some seek to react, some to instigate. House Moselberg seeks to shake, to dislocate, to re-shape.

Gram
(Capital of Morgwenn)

Gram during Mershell's Dance, June 303AC. The lights presumably emitted by the re-constructed statue of Estel illuminated the northern parts of Aloria, including the Regalian Archipelago and Morgwenn.

The Siege of Gram, December 303AC. After House Moselberg took the side of Reginald Kade-Schwarz during the Anahera crisis, the united Anglian-Brissaud-Drachenwalder forces lost a decisive battle to the Daendroque invaders from the west and had to flee north into the Anglian Moors. During the subsequent week, Anahera forces occupied and torched Gram.

In early 304AC, the citadel of Gram was re-constructed under house Moselberg in Imperial style. It's been standing as such ever since, although it did lose some of its splendour due to house Moselberg's bankruptcy.

Morgwenn
(Main Title)

0bhPhrQ.jpg

Morgwenn used to belong to the dying noble house Faulkner for the longest time. After the last member passed away in the early 4th century though, numerous claimants arose. House Moselberg was not the first to govern the duchy, in fact, it was house Barlowe pushing a claim on it and taking up the mantle. The Barlowes governed Morgwenn for three months until they faded into obscurity after an abduction scandal. However, during their rule the duchy saw old gods worship grow in prominence without persecution. When house Moselberg was founded, the Emperor appointed Charlotte to be Landgrave of Morgwenn. She held onto the title for half a year until her departure and stripping of titles, during which Morgwenn was returned to house Barlowe.

Morgwenn is in the north-east corner of Drachenwald bordering Anglia (and Lockinge). The duchy is mostly forested with sprawling urban centres and villages dotting the landscape. It is framed by hills that give place to numerous castles that were since decommissioned under the Prince's orders in 304AC.

Warren-Süd (Currently Unowned)
(Secondary Title)

WKdSIaJ.jpg

Warren-Süd is a barony off the coast of Drachenwald. During the Anahera crisis, many Drachenwalder lords and barons fell in the battle between the Daen and Kade forces. The baron of Warren-Süd was one such, and his lands were given to Charlotte by the Emperor during the second day of the Axford Diet for her contributions to the deposing of Andrieu Anahera. The barony remained in the family's possession up until very recently, when the newly crowned Emperor Cedromar stripped hereditary titles and established his system of meritocracy.

Warren-Süd is a simple island with little elevation and mostly vineyards around the seat, Warmond. Warmond gave place for an elaborate castle and fortification which has been decommissioned since.

Turall (Currently Unowned)
(Legacy Title & Ancestral Homeland)

w00bWVm.jpg

The Earldom of Turall is the ancestral home of house Walerius and Charlotte's first ever held noble title, albeit it was both contested and not under the Moselberg name. It remained in Walerius hands during their vassalage to house Ravenstad, but when the family faded into obscurity Turall was reclaimed and has been part of Anglia under House Kade ever since.

Turall is a temperate region with foothills in front of mountains, filled with vineyards, fields and dotted with the occasional cities.

Lily Cross Order
The political lobby

The Lily Cross Order was founded in November, 303AC, after Charlotte picked up the Moselberg name. It started as a political lobby to bind together houses of low nobility, though rose to be a far closer union that participated in the coup against Andrieu Anahera. Member of the lobby gathered for regular political discourse in the Hostesse estate. They also pledged not to support on specific family, but to support each other.

The ultimate success of the Lily Cross Order came during the Axford diet after the death of Andrieu Anahera where half the members were lifted into nobility proper, whereas Charlotte was brought to high nobility. At its peak, the Lily Cross Order counted the following houses as members: Moselberg, Valor, Heinrich, Artiemus, Cerdici, Cauthin, Lothlann and de Baccarod.

The Lilicrucian order functioned under the principles of the Imperialist Manifesto and briefly filled the role of the "Imperialist" lobby during the Axford diet.

The Silver Key Society
A late dining club

The SKS was a late dining society founded during the reign of Andrieu Anahera. The Secret Brotherhood arose from the union of the already numerous Moselberg-contracted mercenaries and agents and the newly contacted Isldar house Silevon. The society thus created was a formidable force not only in the Regalian Sewers, but on the surface as well.

The initial two months of the Silver Key Society under the co-operation of Charlotte and Andrea Anahera saw the arson of Merchants' guild properties in the city, the abduction of Astrid Kade, the coercion of Theresa's control over house Anahera to Andrea at dagger-point and regular sanguine-safaris in the sewers.

Change soon arrived when the Society had its first meeting with Hiesir Baudh and her coven of Shendar. Through infiltration of organisations, planting of witnesses and staging of evidence the society managed to frame the Violet Oder for corruption, which was subsequently destroyed. Even more, the Society managed to acquire official charter rights post-dissolution to not only enforce the law, but to investigate and suspend other charters.

The society engaged in a proxy-war against other charters for further framing and dissolution attempts where the Society saw itself almost officially aligned to the Baudh Shendar and the Arken in the sewers. Things started to fall apart when the Crimson Inquisition began targeting individual member of house Silevon for abduction and questioning.

The Silver Key Society was forced into defense where its main concern was to find a strawman to sacrifice and to cover its tracks so that the then-duchess is not reprimanded and punished. The Crimson Inquisition had all members captured and the patriarch of house Silevon executed after each and every other member testified against him. The charter was dissolved and the society remained dormant until Charlotte's 2nd treason trial. After the duchess left the Holy City, the society was "dissolved" permanently.
