Introduction
Hailing from the governance capital of the Yang-Tzu Isles, Daishima, the Ma family has been partially immigrating to Regalia in search of greater opportunity and cultural awakenings. This familial group of Ch'ien-Ji took their strong roots and determined minds to the Holy City, settling down in hopes of creating a secondary home nestled within the ever-growing cultural melting pot. The Ma's are a hardworking and persistent family, taking in their bastardized relatives with open arms in hope of creating a healthy, unified, familial backbone. While they mostly have no place in Regalian politics, some of the Ma family have been known to try, whether they be met with failure or not, ambition runs through their veins. They currently run the Ma Family Noodle Company in Regalia.
History
The history of the Ma family is shrouded in doubt and tall tales before the year 400 BC when the Ma's involved in Yang-Tzu's history became more legitimate. The family was virtually unimportant during these times, their primary purpose in Chi society was to work with the masses in rebuilding after multiple debilitating wars. Once impending doom struck the Ch'ien-Ji, the family began sending their able-bodies members into the front to fight alongside the dragonriders under Shen-Loong's reign. While the elders of the Ma bloodline argue their ancestors may have actually been one of those who climbed atop the backs of dragons, this is deemed a lie by the younger generations. It was during this time that the Ma family began prioritizing magic in their youth, teaching them from a younger age to learn spells useful enough for the war efforts. A good number of Ma youth were lost to the battles, and when the Fen-Shu was raised most Ma's were pulled from battle by other family members, choosing to not lose any more of their next generation to a war they were not going to win.
After reducing themselves from their magic-practicing warrior status, the Ma clan calmed down to a more diplomatic life. They managed to settle in Daishima permanently, rooting themselves into a governance position while the rest of the family was destined to learn magic within the community.
Things went along smoothly from then on. Some members of the Ma family rose higher than others in the political ladder, some were destined to teach and learn the arcane arts to the younger members in the family, and others went on to purely dedicate themselves to mathematics and creation. Due to their vast pool of skill and business, the Ma family managed to stay in a moderately well-off position in Daishima, a few of the current generations choosing to procreate with visiting Cielothar, legitimizing their bastard children as to not create a rift in their families relationships. The current generations of the family are a mixture of ages, ranging from the Matriarch Hye-Mi and Patriarch Jin-Hwan, both being well into the ends of their lifetimes, and their children and their children's children. Currently the reigning Patriarch in Regalia is Jae-Seong, as he is the eldest of the grandchildren in the Holy City. A noodle shop under the Ma family name has recently sprung up in Regalia, that being their main income for the time being.
Physical Traits
The Ma family has a very uniform appearance, much like the rest of the Yang-Tzu people. They all possess raven black hair and golden-tinted skin which varies in pigmentation based on if they're a purebreed Ch'ien-Ji or not. They all have consistently amber eyes, save for those who aren't a full-blooded Chi, also. Their heights are on the shorter end of the Ch'ien-Ji spectrum, ranging from five-foot to five-foot-five, and they are all on the thinner side, favoring intelligence and mental prowess over physical form.
While they are all free to dress as they please, most of the Ma family sticks to a color palette of sunflower yellows and oriental warm hues with accents of black.
Mental Traits
Going along with their family values, most members of the Ma family tree are diligent, ambitious and charismatic. While the family members can twist the meanings of these words with a grain of salt, most end up being jovial members of society with a strong will and a knack for furthering themselves as much as they can in life. The Ma's are a strong-willed bunch, and usually try until the very end to come out on top.
Like other Chi, they value prosperity and peace, not easily angered nor are they prone to fight without purpose. The Ma clan are not unable to defend themselves, however, as some of them know some form of magic or atleast know how to use what's around them when necessary.
