House Lexen is more of a pseudo-noble (currently) commoner family. The history of the house suits the theme of a shakespearian drama/tragedy, and the word "family" means little to those with the name Lexen. Wrought with patricide and greed, the legacy of Lexen members is regarded to some as a horrific tale, and to others just a bedtime story. No matter the thoughts of those who hear it, few know the correct details.
A Brief (and Incomplete [for Meta Purposes]) History:
- Beginning in the spring of 199 AC, the Lexen brothers Aedyli and Christof began their own small ferry business. The brothers kept to their work dutifully for a few years before sibling rivalry broke out. The feud was resolved due to Aedyli's unfortunate drowning after falling overboard.
- The Lexens begin a small trade company within the Ithanian region beginning around 282 AC.
- 287 AC, the second bloodline of the Lexens begin opium production in Farahdeen.
- Lexen members actively engaged in Regalian military service, begins in 302 AC.
- Hannah Lexen, unopposed due to no other Lexen around, takes over as family head.
Bit longer, more in-depth version:
Main Bloodline
After years of living in Ithania with his wife, Christof fell ill in the winter of 249 AC. His sons flocked back home to see their father, and set the terms of inheritance. Christof passed off his eldest son for his favorite son, Drake, who took well after Christof himself. Joe, the eldest son, grew infuriated by his passed-over inheritance. He smothered Christof in his sleep, and declared himself as the rightful inheritor of the wealth. With no witnesses besides the brothers themselves, there was no solid ground for a trial. Joe took the money from the smuggling and fled, in fear of his brothers' wroth. He took what money he had and set off to Old Ceardia, along the coast (before the destruction, mind you).
Joe lived his days in moderate luxury. He drank, he smoked, and he slept with plenty of women. He was certainly not a long-term financial planner, and soon took up a job serving in a small coastal para-military force. He worked below decks, managing storing of shipping containers like his father had taught him. He continued his drinking and hedonistic acts, producing a few bastard children here and there. He left all of them. After a small naval skirmish, Joe walked the deck and examined the wreckage for anything salvageable. He noted a scavenger already picking through the wreckage below. The woman aboard in the crew he fell in love with, and eventually married. Hannah Saena and Joe Lexen soon wed, and moved ashore to farm.
Joe was a drunk before their marriage, but after their child he only drank more. During a drunken spat with Hannah, Joe shoved her. She fell upon a scythe, suffering a fair wound. She would have healed, but infection soon set in and Hannah succumbed to it. Their daughter, Hellen, left home years later to escape her incompetent father. She took on her mother's name in her memory.
Hannah took to paramilitary forces much like her father. During her time, she worked surprisingly close to her father. Their forces often met and joined together to fend off raiders. It was Hannah's hope that either Joe would die in combat, or she would get a chance to kill him herself. Joe was wounded during battle, maiming half of his face, but he lived. He took his leave from the military, and Hannah confronted him. How Hannah reacted is not known, but Joe begged for her forgiveness. He died several years later of tuberculosis.
Hannah Lexen was the only full-blood Lexen left in Regalia at the time besides one of Joe's bastard children, Adam Lexen. There was a brief skirmish between the two, ultimately ending with Adam disappearing. It was later reported that he had died outside of Regalia due to head trauma from a severe fall. Hannah is not known to be involved in any way.
During the reign of Freya Lo, Hannah's half-Isldar blood was put into question, and her rights were expunged. In the meantime, Joel Lexen returned to Regalia. He is arranged to be married to a member of Tzavaras family, and earned a County for himself.
Hannah Lexen is the current (titular) matriarch of the main Lexen bloodline.
Second Bloodline
The second bloodline leaves off at the death of Aedyli Lexen. Sebastian Lexen, cheated of his money, left to Farahdeen. There he spent his own funds to begin opium production, Since Farahdeen is rather renown for it's mass cultivation of poppies and opium production, the business was slow-growing. Exporting opium was never an issue for Sebastian. Soon he had wealth, and a growing business at his back. He began shipping more wide-spread, instead of throwing his opium in to compete with mass producers. His eye caught upon Ithania, and a particular trade business headed by Joe Lexen himself.
He stalked Joe for a month, expecting him to have done something well with the money he should have rightfully inherited from Christof after his death. Noting no gregarious spending, Sebastian confronted Joe. The two spent weeks interlocked in verbal and legal combat, before Sebastian sent men to investigate Joe's housing. This began an all out blood-feud between the cousins; a battle in the underground of Regalia took place. Hannah eventually stepped in, turning to Sebastian first. She stated that Joe had hid away his wealth, and that they could work together in taking it from the drunk. Sebastian agreed, though he intended to have Hannah removed from the equation once the wealth was discovered.
What he had not counted on was that there was no actual wealth, and Hannah had a similar plan. They sailed out along the coast of Regalia aboard a freelancing ship, under the guise of a passing vessel. Sebastian was lead to believe this was for the security of a plan to uncover Joe's wealth. Instead, he was met with the sharp end of a blade and dropped into the ocean.
Sebastian Lexen's wealth passed onto the next of kin, since he had no children of his own.
No one has claimed leadership of the second bloodline. It is available to be taken by player or NPC.

- Sommerfeld, a small estate within the County of Atzenberg, owned by Joel Lexen
- The estates, property of the mainline of house Lexen, are the small islands off the mainland of Ithania. These islands aren't named, but they do host small estates for family members, a dock capable of hosting medium freight ships, light houses, and small structures for family use (training ground, small outdoor bar, storage, etc.). Most family members simply refer to the island as "the estate". OOC, these are some actual builds in Ithania. If there is ever some private family RP, it will likely take place there. These are kind of expensive to make, since a lot of the resources need to be purchased, so if you want one please let me know. You should play your character a while before asking for an estate.

Family Characteristics:
- The family is mostly Alt-Regalish. It wouldn't be absurd for some sort of mix to occur.
- Lexen facial features are usually chiseled and taut.
- All Lexens would be allowed to choose their own faith, but Unionism is pushed on Lexen children.
- Addictive tendencies and hedonistic endeavors are common in the main bloodline.
- The word family means little to Lexens. Lexens can be awkward, or even hostile when met with another Lexen. They are raised to be untrusting.
