Hey Thinking Of Leaving!

Hey @Dawnhavoc ! I hope that the ranting critiques aren't getting you down!
I never liked the ranting critiques myself.
You are looking too much on the bad side of things, try looking at it from another angle...
@Suzzie and @iMcMuffins were trying to help you become a better roleplayer, and in no way, shape, or form meant to hurt you.
We are all here to help you, and help you grow as a roleplayer. We don't want to make you leave!
We want to see you succeed as much as you do, and are as happy as you are when you do!
And, you could be worse! There have been people (who shall not be named) who have tried to roleplay as completely unrelated, non-medieval things. Two I can think of, from a Sci-Fi movie and a Super-hero movie. (Again, not being named.) They wouldn't accept our help though, and ended up where I think you are right now. We want you to fit in and be one of us too! And you said how people would try to avoid RP with you, well maybe you misunderstood the situation, maybe they just didn't acknowledge you In-Character. We might be mean to your characters, but do not take it in any way as being mean at you. And those people ranting about stuff, they can be pretty annoying. Try having your picnic crashed by a maniac who smashes cake at you, and when you try to dodge the cake he rants on about how you couldn't dodge it. :P
Also, I am going to go check out your character application and see if I have any friendly advice for you!
Don't give up on us Dawnhavoc! And you should come get a drink at the bar when I am there some time! My bartender character will most likely be named Jonathan Herran, and I will give you a free drink if you mention my post!
Happy Roleplaying, and give us one more chance buddy! <3
I'm giving it a second chance.. :/

HOORAY FOR COMPLETELY DERAILING THE THREAD!

Yes. Yes you do. Well, you're allowed to roleplay without one, but you'll basically be a nobody in the world, without a chance to have any recognized role or effect in the world.

With that said, I'm all in for detailed and realistic characters, but not everyone has the skills and/or time required to write a character app.
I hate to be that guy, but...

Having an approved character application allows the lore staff who are responsible for creating a realistic and logical world see which characters are compliant and thus can be included in certain events without the fear that they will do something that isn't lore compliant. The server has an environment in which it is possible to roleplay without a character application if you do not wish to make one, but it is true that you can't go very "far" without an application, but you can still meet and interact with people on a casual basis.

I think the server works well this way for a variety of reasons.

1) A character application allows (or forces, depending on how you choose to look at it) you to go incredibly in depth with your character. Even if you aren't the best writer, you still end up creating a lot of content on their personality, likes, and dislikes. And as long as that creative depth is present, I don't believe the staff are generally too strict about grammar and vocabulary in the character application.

2) Not everyone has a recognized "effect in the world". The world is a big place, and there are more peasants and commoners than there are nobles, heroes, and celebrities. And it seems to be only fair that those who put the time into their character application and ultimately move up the ladder by putting time into their roleplay and creating fun roleplay for others end up to be the ones who fulfill these roles. But that doesn't mean being a commoner can't be fun! I have an approved character application, but I'm still a commoner and I don't really have any "role" or "effect" on the world yet, but I still have a good time when I roleplay.

Plus, I'm just going to address an unfortunate fact- Roleplay is an inherently linguistic activity. Proper grammar and a functional vocabulary /will/ get you farther, there's no question about that. But! There is always room to improve and ways to work around it. If English isn't your first language, and you speak Spanish, perhaps, then you could play a character from Daendroc who maybe speaks only a little bit of common. There are also lots of free and paid online programs to learn English or any other language at your own convenience in your home. Furthermore, if anybody ever needs help writing an application, or if you would like somebody to edit your work prior to posting, message me. I'm always open to give writing assistance and critique, and I won't charge you regals or anything.

Hey @Dawnhavoc . I think you get the point by now of 'Don't give up just yet bruh,' so I won't rant on more about that. Actually I'd like to point out that, yes, having an application does allow you to have the capability to get far more 'important' in the RP world. However, it doesn't guarantee it. Also it's amazingly fun to just fool around with a character you don't have an application for. If you like the character enough, you can make an application for them and maybe have them do cool things! :D
Heck, I for one have never actually made an application for any of my characters (That I can remember, at least) and I still manage to have a grand time in RP. If it helps, you can always send me a convo on the fourms or ask other people (as I'm certain other's have already offered) to help you learn about RP lore, etiquette, and all that. It can be very overwhelming when just looking at it from the wiki, and I think having someone else that (more or less) knows what they're talking about could help you and other new people out a lot!

Hoping you reconsider/Already have!

Tell meh about it. I make characters so I can kill them. I make characters as backups incase my good characters die and I get a seconds chance. Not to avenge myself, but basiclly the same personalilty. I have aleast 45 characters, dead and alive, used or not, old or new, blah or bruh, zing or zang, poop or pee, -- goes on for eternalilty.+

On the topic of skins, I use Novaskin, simply because it has a pretty large amount of skins on it and editing them is fairly easy with it's interface. It's pretty hard to find a good lore compliant skin, so you should have a design in mind, find a skin that roughly fits that design, and modify the skin from there.

The only thing i hate about Novaskin is i tend to not like looking up things persay
'Medieval girl' cause i do show more and it just shows repeats and repeats of the same ones.

I use "Miners Need Cool Shoes" and "Skindex"
"Skindex" doesn't have great Medieval skins.
The reason i say that is because nearly ever medieval skin i've seen has the following:
Blonde hairr non-compliant eyes.. or Hair
ALWAYS IN DRESSES! (Rarely ever see a non-dresses one...
I've looked up Yanar there and there was one with human skin...

Use "Miners Need Cool Shoes." You can import skins and edit them. You can also search up skins. Most of the skins I use I edited them on "Miners Need Cool Shoes" first.
