I'm a big fan of the 'half snake, half human' type model of Naga, but I was wondering how it could work in rp.

So a portion of the Naga moved onto Regalia after the War and are living in the slums. Would it be too farfetched to somehow be half slither, half human?

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated. I made myself (even though I'm terrible with models) a pretty skin and would love to be able to justify it in-character.

Mm, I'll reword it.

What lore abidding Mary-Sue rp should I incorporate to validate a humanoid with a bottom snake-half.

We can assume there has always been cross-breeding between the various types of Naga, so a Slither/Lizzar mix could have fallen for a Human in Regalia at some point.

I think its a bit impossible because humans are mammals and lizards lays eggs, aswell as Naga, and their reproduction form is diferrent including their Organs to make the reproduction of the race, but if it ever gets to happen it would be somewhat the wose creature ver living with, and scary as hell

Naga can't breed with mammalian races and vice versa so being half naga half human isn't possible

To quote Marty:

Races that may interbreed as mammals:
  • Humans
  • Elves
  • Dwarves
  • Orcs
  • Tigran
  • Maiar
  • Yanar
  • Urs
  • Qadir
  • Chi'i
  • Wulong
  • Thylans
Keep in account some of these combinations may be lethal to the labouring mother. A Human mother will barely ever survive giving birth to an Orc-Human baby for example, due to birth complications.

Races that may interbreed as insects:
  • Vespid
  • Torpid
  • Arachne
Races that may interbreed as avians:
  • Avarr
Races that may interbreed as reptillians:
  • Naga
Races that may interbreed as infernal reptillians:
  • Dakkar

As a Slither, this is as close as you're going to get buddy.

I started heading down the rabbit hole.

"What if his father was an Alchemical geneticist working with naga transmogrification elixirs with the goal of developing a potion to repair biological damages. A bit of magical tinkering to find a way to regrow scales, organs and what have you. Incidentally, lab explosion! Son now is half Naga and the Alchemist's work was blown to smithereens. Seeing as the experiments were highly illegal, father disowns his son to the slums of Regalia. He's never so much as 'talked' with a Naga, and life with a tail instead of legs is confusing and bothersome."

Blargh blargh.

Crazy, right? If I'm onto something, lemme know so I can keep my pretty skin I made. Otherwise I may just make a stinking dwarf skin or something.

Mary Sue-ism and making 'special snowflake' characters is highly discouraged on Massivecraft. So, I'd say go for the dwarf.

No, stay a Naga!

MC is filled to the brim with special snowflakes. For every average Human soldier, there are seventeen fourteen year old master wizards in diamond armor looking for a brawl at the tavern.
I get it though.

The medium, Minecraft, already gives us the customization to live out whatever type of character we want. The inclusion of the More Player Mods has it bursting through the seams. If anything, the provided tools encourage specially designed characters.

You can go right ahead with your special snowflake character. That's completely your choice. But you will be ridiculed and be treated like, for example, one of the server's nooby Twilight sparkly vampires. You can either make a special snowflake, non-lore compliant lizard man, or make a lore compliant character. Your call.

On the subject of the MPM mod, allow me to quote from the thread Th3_Drunk_Monk made:

The stalwart Rohghash-a-bunny-pegasus is (sadly) not something we expect to see within Regalia and if people are seen bouncing around as such odd creatures expect a brief word from a member of our team.

So in short:
1. Keep your character Lore compliant.
2. Do not use mob models.
3. No sparkles or non-lore compliant parts.
4. Have fun!

So please remember guys stay lore compliant with your customisations and dont abuse the mod and disrupt rp, it will be taken very, very seriously.

Other then that all I can say is have a fantastic time with the mod and enjoy the new features you have access to!

Erm...you must not have much experience here on the forums, I would presume from a statement like that. Any special snowflakes you found in-game are likely unapproved characters from newbs and chances are they are non-lore-compliant. Our roleplay staff does a good job of controlling any Mary-Sueism or special snowflake-ism when in the character approval process found on the forums here.

I had a long rant about the varying degrees of 'special' characters that have been approved as lore-compliant in the year or so that I've been here. I think I wrote six paragraphs until I took a step back to ask why I'm getting more than a little bothered.

It was because I took a handful of these replies as condescension.

Instead I'll take the initiative here and assume no snarky-ness was intentionally implied by anyone.

I've roleplayed a stereotypical Middle Daendroc elf who was good with a bow, and a Laborer-For-Hire Gratt Orc who's major character traits were his stupidity and loyalty.

They were fine, mundane characters, but I'm looking to start a third non-Human character. I'm not very good with creating models, but I was proud of the classic-looking Naga I had designed. After reading the Naga lore, I realized that Massivecraft's take is different than what I had originally perceived. (I was looking for a male version of Kin from Goblinscomic.com :) )

I posted this thread to see if there was an available loop-hole to allow me the option of using my skin in-character that wouldn't be 100% out of place. My 'alchemist' bio reply was an example of what I didn't want to happen, which is why I posted 'down the rabbithole' before it. I don't want something so farfetched that it could only possibly happen once.

What I'm taking from this thread is, "Sorry, bro. I don't think it's in the cards. Try again." I'm fine with that. Thanks for the help everyone.
