Gwendoline Fleurété was born in 282 AC to Eliza Fleurété, a rich and famous opera singer. Gwen grew up with the finest education Ithania could offer and lived in extreme luxury, but she often did not see her mother for months at a time. Thus, they never truly grew close. Eliza had one son, Solaire, eleven years older than Gwen. He left to join knight school when Gwen was only three, so he had a meager part in her childhood. Gwen idolized her mother as a child and dreamed of one day becoming an opera singer, as well. But, as she was often reminded, Gwen had a homely face and an even less appealing voice. In most other regards, she excelled. Gwen was both witty and polite, causing her to be many teachers’ pets. She consumed much of her time reading, be it secular or religious text, and painting. She also took up the organ and found she did inherit some of her mother's musical talent. Very little of her time was spent outside, and even less time was dedicated to athletic pursuits. Tensions slowly rose between Gwendoline and her mother. They had arguments almost every night, mainly over petty things. It seemed the only thing they could agree on was the faith of Unionism. Eventually, it reached a boiling point. What started as a conversation about Gwen’s marks in school turned into a shouting with both parties yelling insults. The night ended with Gwen sobbing in her room, wanting nothing more than to get away from her mother. The next day, Gwen packed up. She had been considering it for a while, but the night prior was the last straw. With a curt goodbye to her mother, Gwen went off to the Priscelle Church to attend Seminary School. Joining the seminary was easily the best decision Gwen ever made. While there, her teachers praised her astuteness. She found that she was naturally adept at memorizing prayers and writing sermons. She made many great friends and excellent memories. She learned how to harness the abilities granted to her lineage, and she studied religious texts. Furthermore, she was taught a myriad of languages. When Gwen graduated, she was sent to Osteriermark on the Regalian Archipelago as a missionary. There, she worked hard and got some hands-on experience. Her skills continued to grow along with the love for her work. During her travels and divine mission, she encountered a group of Etosian Unionists who were extremely disrespectful to her and her fellow missionaries. They taught her that not all Unionists were benevolent individuals like her friends and teachers. She began to question the motives of the more conservative sects of Unionism. It was in the midst of the Clicker Crisis, in which she provided humanitarian aide, that she received word that the head of the Ombre family had passed - and that a funeral was to be had in Regalia. Unable to leave those in need, she remained within Osteriermark until the crisis finally came to an end. It was only then that Gwen was able to cross through waters of the Archipelago to be reunited with her family - and new matriarch.
