Weapon of Choice: Shortswords. First Paragraph: Direct your eyes to the tavern counter, where the extroverted and open Gawain invites passive strangers to sit right by him. Scenes like these make it clear that Gawain is inviting, naive and curious. Quick to talk, quicker to act, it’s pretty obvious from first conversation Gawain is new to Regalia and all its kinks. That gentle twitch at the corner of his mouth and simple smile are all pointers to an innocent joker at heart, in spite the tired look in his eye. Second Paragraph: Money makes the world go ‘round and apparently keeps Gawain’s life functional. Working as a mercenary isn’t stable or efficient and it certainly wasn’t what his mother wanted. There’s a reason this drinking buddy drinks. Young and new to the game, Gawain has a fair set of anxieties about what’s to come. Fear of repercussions, fear of death and last, but certainly not least, fear of poverty all assault his psyche. One would think that these fears would push him away from the crisis-central of Regalia in general, though it’s quite the opposite. Gawain is both adventurous and stubborn, meaning he’s not going to leave Regalia until every nook and cranny has been seen by his eyes alone. Third Paragraph: Connections, connections. Friendship is what brought Gawain to Regalia, and can probably be the only thing beyond death that’ll get him to leave. Gawain is loyal to a fault and heavily protective. Beyond his heavy defense of allies, he’s actually quite level-headed when around pals, dropping the quick-talking quipping attitude he normally keeps on in exchange for a slower-paced semi-serious conversation. Though, admittedly, he’s not one to open up about true feelings. Fourth Paragraph: Gawain’s morality certainly does have a lot of inner conflict. As a Heartlander, honor was beaten into his soul and kept alight through stories of heroes. Though as a Darkmark, victory above all else was emphasized. This puts an odd pressure on Gawain to be both a victor and honorbound, though admittedly his honor is lost in times of self-preservation. He finds himself secure in the knowledge that he is indeed trying to be a chivalrous and kind person, despite his line of work. Gawain Lucian Blackburn, bastard son of an Anglian traveller and Adeline Blackburn, was born in the Dragenthal land of Heartbury in 286 A.C. His mother, Adeline, was given a baby from an affair with said traveller during one of his long trips. Thankfully, as a banker, she had enough money to support both herself and her son. Though she vowed never to marry, Gawain was taken in as her only son, and was destined to remain her only son. Adeline and Gawain got along swimmingly, as the starry-eyed child loved hearing made-up tales of knights and heroes, usually tailored with a moral to get the usually quite rowdy Gawain to behave for once. Adeline was an Old Gods worshipper and as such, Gawain was told of the Unions. Taking a particular liking to the Union of Air, Gawain’s desire for both heroism and combat directed him to the local School of Darkmark. Gawain and his mother argued a lot over his ability to even go to the Darkmark school. Though, in due time, his mother caved, deciding that Gawain would at least find joy in this new world of work. Shipping him off to the school at the age of ten with barely even a goodbye, Gawain knew that if he did finish schooling- he wouldn’t come back. Ten years in the Darkmark school passed, leaving the now twenty-year-old Gawain on his own. Quickly after leaving the school and forming independence, he caught the eye of one Leolaith Reinard. The two were fast friends and the young Darkmark accompanied Leolaith to Regalia as a way of assisting her in her ventures as the Reinard House Guard captain. As the Reinard house faded back, Gawain grew worried for the financial stability he'd fought for for so long.

This was intentional! I'd prefer to keep it, in all honesty, as it prevents having to tag for a re-review after every time I want to change images. If changing it is absolutely necessary, I'll get to it. 15 +5 = 20, Gawain is 20 years old. The +15 in Shortswords comes from his natural boost of +5 from being a Heartland Ceardian.
