    Personality and Abilities:

On the outside, Garren is one cool customer. To many, he is proper, often walking and speaking with a graceful elegance that comes from a childhood of etiquette training. This pairs well with his level-headed attitude towards problems as he often thinks out his moves before he makes them. He also has been described as inspired, often citing the mad look in his eyes when he gets a new idea in his head. Many who first meet him are disturbed by the ‘spark’ in his eyes, but it simply means his brain is processing out a plan.

Meanwhile on the inside, Garren is, at least to himself, the funniest elf alive. This of course means that he makes some of the stupidest jokes and will laugh like crazy even when others find them irritating. He is incredibly Confident of himself, and if he makes a mistake, he uses it to further improve himself. This also makes him really enjoy messing up, since it means that one of his hypothesis were wrong, and potentially gives him a new idea. He considers himself to be superior to most other scholars in Regalia, due to being an elf and being able trace his lineage back only three generations to the Elven Empire.

Garren has relatively few loved ones that he sees on a regular enough basis. He originally grew up in a family of five, with two younger siblings, whom he writes to on occasion. With his friends, he’s incredibly relaxed, often cracking more jokes and breaking down the cool exterior. Garren does tend to act as a moral voice to some of his friends crazier antics, even going so far as to sabotage his friends when they are doing tasks that he knows shouldn’t happen. The only real downside to being Garren’s friend is that he begins to show his mischievous side, as he takes great joy in practical jokes of all sorts.

All things considered, Garren is a light-hearted individual who simply wants to be able to practice his ‘artform’ without harassment. Overall, he is good in nature, though his strong desires for personal freedom and respect lend him to being a more chaotic lens on the world. He frowns heavily upon morally corrupt crimes, but believes that the best option and the lawful option are not always the same. To him, if an action causes minor harm to a person’s wealth, but saves a family, it is worthwhile. However, his elven blood often causes him to look at the world with a different lens, believing that the fall of the Elven Empire was due to a corrupt few who were consumed by their greed. Instead, Garren’s personal sin is pride.

Garren was born and raised Estellian, a fact which has recently shifted to a worship of the virtues after the ‘return’ of Estel, focusing intensely on Salvation (for his work as a surgeon) and Liberty (for his actions helping out the non-elves). His family is one that traces itself back to the golden age of the Elven Empire, which has changed his opinion on elven equality in Regalia. He feels strongly that elves are superior to Ailor, and finds the fact he has been demoted back to a second class citizen a slight he will not take sitting down. Revalan was a major supporter among the Altalar of Emperor Alexander, and speaks highly of the man to others who attempt to lower the previous ruler’s accomplishments. He respects what the Regalians have managed to do for themselves, but is growing irritated with their stupidity when it comes to the flagrant disregard by both upper and lower classes of Elven genius.

    Talents:
    • Surgeon: Garren has an up-to-date knowledge of anatomy and physiology; and considers himself among the experts in the field of medicine. He can diagnose most wounds and illnesses, and can perform surgery when needed. Because of this, he tends to begin diagnosing people when he first meets them, due to a natural tendency to discover new ‘medical mysteries’ to report to Academia with.
    • Polylingual: After years of studying with different groups, Garren has become skilled in a number of languages. Beyond the obvious Common and Modern and Imperial Elvens, Garren can speak Daendroque, Ithanian, Regalian, and even a few words of Proto-Regalisch. His goal in this endeavour is to be able to communicate with more scholars and more people from around the world to better expand his fame.
    • (Near) Photographic Memory: Or at least something very close to it. Garren has an incredibly easy time remembering names, faces, dates, and even the odd color of a rash. Garren has spent long hours of his life working on better memory techniques to attempt to improve his general recall ability, something he believes every good doctor should know. This helps him immensely when it comes to meeting new people as he can easily remember their name should the need arise.

    Life Story:

    Early Years:

    • Garren was born into an upper class parents, Harriel and Ashinne, in Prëcaellë, during one of the many wars the elven state was waging with its neighbors. He was the second born, but the first to survive infancy.

    • His siblings, two younger brothers named Sarel and Feydis, were born five and twelve years later respectively.

    • Around the age of twenty five, Garren’s family immigrated to Rivellia, specifically the town of Revalan, in the Regalian Archipelago, to attempt to leave behind the wars of their homeland.

    • Garren began working as a weaver and dyer for a number of years, living at home in an attempt to help support his family.
    Middle Years:

    • Garren would spend the next few decades in Revalan, performing different jobs around town and flirting with any girl who he met. None managed to entertain him intelligently, however, and he never settled down.

    • At the age of sixty three, Garren left Rivellia to attend the Medical Academy of Theron’s Hand in Regalia city. He would undertake his studies here for the next few decades, serving as a surgeon at the Regalian Hearts Clinic. It was also during this time that he would learn fire magic from a colleague.

    • In the mid 290’s, Garren traveled to Daendroc to help out with the Ranger Crisis. Here he entered the deadly meat grinder of combat medicine, which he claims greatly reinforced his abilities as a surgeon. It was during this conflict that the tip of his right ear was cut off, making him forever a 'half knife-ear'.

    • At the conclusion of the crisis, Garren began to travel around to other provinces to begin researching new treatments and consolidate them into a single book for his records. He named his book ‘The New Regalian Chronicle of Medicine’, and began looking for a publisher.
    Recent Years:

    • Garren continued to travel and share techniques with different scholars of Medicine across the Regalian Archipelago. He returned to Teled Methen to help operate during the Elven-Regalian Conflicts, and was stranded there as the Songaskia invaded Regalia a year later.

    • What brought Garren back to Regalia was the recent de-canonization of the Eleventh Creed, a move he considered insulting to loyal nelfin across Regalia. As such, he has moved back to Regalia to prove that he is deserving of his status as a first class citizen after years of saving lives for the Empire.

    Here's my review -
    • Skill Information
      • You mentioned that he acquired his 'student' level fire magic from books and practice, but don't mention the fact that you need someone to open up your character's connection to the void. Please mention this either in the skill information section or in the life story, as it's somewhat important to note that Garren didn't just open up a book and start to learn magic.
Mark this change in red and tag me when you're done.
