    • Height: 6’6
    Personality and Abilities
    • Responding to fear he would generally either fight even harder, and more wildly if there is no escape from a frightful combat situation, or try and escape as fast as possible if there is an escape unless his resolve is reinforced again by an ally aiding him. Fear also makes him more paranoid and skittish, trying to avoid situations that might get him hurt.
    • When experiencing stress Florian either tries to play it off cool and calm to those around him or would lash out, taking his anger out on others. Generally, he releases stress by going to the bar and having cool and refreshing water or going out to practice swordplay, though when that isn't an option he will just try and meditate to calm down and de-stress.
    • When feeling happy he will generally try and make others feel happy as well, using his charm and generally happy nature to try his best to get everyone else into his kind of mood. He would also walk around with that big, broad smile on his face too, just to try and make that feeling of positivity infectious.
    • Florian sees the authorities and law enforcement in the city to be useful, and effective, liking how they deal with most situations, even if they are generally biased to tackle certain peoples rather than credible criminals and threats. He doesn't like how religion clouds their judgement, however, and how stubborn many of their members are to others, both criminal, and non-Ailor alike, worrying that this might make them hurt the wrong person, or put the wrong person away, either for someone else's crime or for nothing at all. He generally tends to keep out of their way unless he can benefit from it, or someone needs help that only the guards can provide at that time, and certainly will try his best to not get into trouble with them if he can help it.
    • Generally, Florian tends to trust elves more than other races, due to the fact he is more akin to his mother than his father. This is especially true for the Isldar, due to his strong connection with them. As for Orcs and more brutish races he can stand them if they don't do anything stupid against him. However, he distrusts the Kathar most, due to how they always treated him badly when he was a slave, and almost killed his mother back when they escaped. While he won't go out of his way to hurt them or exclude them, his distrust remains, and he will keep a staunch eye on them.
    • Florian doesn't really care about Religion unless he can perceive the being with his own eyes or the effects they have on the world and others. This is especially true for the Frostweaver, who he has great respect for. However, he has never been one for worship, believing actions speak louder than reading some book, or simply worshipping, and prefers to live by his own morals and beliefs of life. After all, if they truly cared they would've smitten him by now. The one worship he cannot abide by however is Void worship, having heard the horrors it can do to people, and having seen its followers and what they have tried to do to people as well.
    • He is generally impressed by magic, liking its usage and flexibility, though he does distrust it, due to its volatile nature. Those who use it he will generally stay away from, as to not be destroyed accidentally or otherwise, though other than that he doesn't really mind them, seeing them as no different from anyone else who might use their skills to their advantage. As for mutants he generally will distrust them as well, especially the void afflicted ones, due to whatever might've mutated them, also possibly mutating their minds, though as long as they do not attack him or treat him badly he will generally pay them no mind, and he won't go out of his way to attack them, like a Jacobinist that he is.
    • Florian loves his mother with all his heart, due to the fact she was there for him for so long as guided him into the person he is now. And she actually cared for him. He also loves his sister, as she was basically the only friend he had as a child, though he sees himself as more of a protector to her than anything, as she is his little sister. As for his father he dislikes, distrusts, and almost hates him for the things he let him endure, deciding to stay away from him at all costs. As for the rest of his family, he generally thinks they are alright if a little dysfunctional. He just believes he needs to get to know them better.
    • One of Florian's biggest insecurities is his half-elf blood, due to the fact he believes it makes him seem lesser to both sides, especially the Isldarian side which he wishes he was like a lot, due to him revering his mother so much, and the stories she told of the glories of her people.
    • Florian is most proud about his skills in battle, his charming looks, and his seemingly social and happy nature, proud that he is willing to go out of his way to make someone's day better with a long chat or the like.
    • The main things that motivate Florian to be better in life are the promises his mother told him about the Frostweaver, his need to be better than his father was...and probably still is, and his want to be more like his kind and loving mother, more so than his father.
    • One of Florian's biggest fears is his past. He fears that one day it will catch up to him and he, his mother, and his sister will find there way back into chains or fall to some threat to their lives. The other is being alone, not wanting to lose anyone he cares about, especially his mother and sister.

    Life Story

Florian was born to Odilon Lupenzi, an Ithanian merchant living within Daendroque, and one of Odilon’s friend's Isldar slaves whom Odilon took a shining to, called Allaya Crynhorith. Their romance was kept heavily secret, due to both Odilon already having being married, but also his mistress being his friends' slave, which might have been hated within the Daendroquin society where they lived, and might have ended the business plan between him and his friend as well, which could've earned him a fortune. As such, the duo kept it a secret and managed to lie their way through the situation by saying that his father was another slave who had died a mere week before.

Growing up for Florian was hard due to him having to grow up a slave, however, he, his little sister, his mother were at least better treated than the rest in the house, perhaps being given nicer jobs, or getting a little more food to share with one another due to Odilon at least managing to persuade some people around the house to help them out, even though it was, to get an extra set of hands working with him in the endgame. However, this both rose suspicion over the years, with other members of the town, and his wife beginning to note how he treated these two random slaves within his friends employ nicely. The slaves also noted this free-man getting them better treatment from their master, becoming jealous, and treating them as just another enemy. The main job he and his mother had at this time, was as couriers, due to his mother being fast on her feet, and Florian just loving to run along, though his younger sister was generally left behind, due to her being too young, and Odilon normally having enough hands in use. This job was specifically chosen for them by Odilon however, in order to keep them out of sight most of the day at the growing tensions he could tell was coming from other people in town, his wife, and his friend, however due to Odilon leaving Florian's younger sister out, suspicions rose about her instead...though no one saw the danger growing from his friends other slaves to his two able hands.

All this tension came to a head after the 11th birthday of Florian’s sister, where the slaves attempted to revolt in the night, setting fire to Odilon’s friend's house, actually managing to kill Odilon’s wife and his friend during the initial flames. While this had been happening Florian, Margaux and Allaya had been out working as well, and when they returned to the house they found it up in flames, with a few of their fellow slaves standing over the corpse of one of their masters hired mercenaries. They then spotted the trio, and a chase before his mother tripped. He went to try and pick her up but she pushed him away, due to there not being enough time. He did as she asked, dragging his sister with him as she cried, reaching out for her mother, and running all the way to the edge of town where he discovered Odilon, and a Songaskian mercenary (Isai Vaenthan).

The group wandered for days onward through Daendroque, with Odilon telling the children the truth of who his father really was, as well as telling Florian and Margaux of his personal history. At first, Florian didn’t believe it, believing it to be just something to try and make him feel better, but as they wandered for longer and longer it made more sense...and it made him angrier and angrier. Partially for his parents lying to him, but mostly because of how father treated his mother, his sister, him as just useful hands in his schemes so to speak, and also keeping both him, his sister, and his mother as slaves in his friends employ as well, despite him using her as a mistress, and Florian and Margaux being his actual children. For this he decided to abandon his father and return to his town as soon as possible, telling his father as such. His father, not wishing to see him go on his own, sent his mercenary with him, despite Florian explicitly stated he didn’t want anything else from him. He blamed him for the uprising which cost his mother her life, due to him keeping them as a slave to his friend to keep up merchant agreements with him, rather than setting them free, showing how he didn't love them. However, his father did make a point. It would be dangerous for him back in town...so he decided he would take the mercenary with him, leaving his father and young sister behind to continue their journey to a friends house. He said sad goodbyes to his sister, and he didn't trust his father with her, but it would be safer with his father, an Ailor. With that, he wandered onward.

While journeying back he commonly told his new “protector” how much he despised how he followed him, but they shrugged it off. They began talking as they went, however, gaining a love-hate relationship. The man even began to train Florian on how to fight. Perhaps it was the way the man treated him that made their relationship grow into a great friendship. Not being treated as a possession to be kept, and used as no more as tools, as his father and his former master had treated him...but as a person. However, by the time they had returned it seemed that the town was nearly abandoned. Apparently, the slaves hadn’t stopped at just their house, but liberating as many slaves as possible from their masters, and a great battle had ensued with the guards. The town was now merely a shell of what it was, however, after exploring it partially he discovered a doctor working on someones leg...it was his mother. She was alive! He quickly ran to her, hugging her close, with the mercenary keeping watch from behind. His mother then questioned where his sister was, where he then explained the dilemma. She was sad at this choice but vowed that she would work to get them together again, but first, they would need to get to safety.

For years after this, he and his mother remained within the town as people began to leak back in. During this time he was further trained by Isai, and with the skills he was given he took up doing odd jobs around the area, commonly being used as muscle on merchant trips, or as a bouncer in taverns. However, sometimes he got other missions, such as courier work or helping clean up the corpses after a battle or two. After a time, of course, Isai left the duo to hunt coin elsewhere, bidding them both fond farewells. When asked where he was going he simply told them he was heading to Regalia. This put an idea in Florian’s head, however, he pushed that out. His mother loved this town. She had grown up here after all. And his sister might yet return, especially if his letters reached her.

Over the years onward more and more people began to return to the town, and racism began to grow toward his mother especially. This made Florian’s ideology toward the town drop significantly once more, beginning to gain a much stronger distrust for the Daendroquin’s in town. However, he had to focus on work so that he could keep him and his mother going, while also having a side fund for his sister when she hopefully returned, so he shrugged it off when he could. But one night while they were sleeping a small group of mercenaries were prepared to enslave them both, breaking into their home in order to do so. Of course, he drove them off to the best of their ability, and that is when he realized they needed to leave, aiding her in packing up her things, and his own. Then he thought back to Regalia...perhaps he could find refuge with Isai if he was there. Or perhaps he could stay with his Aunt, who he remembered from when his father had told him his history. He decided that his Aunt would be a better choice, not even knowing if Isai was still in Regalia anymore, and he, and his mother, quickly made their way off to this new city, ready for a new start. Of course, he let off one final letter to his sister, as the last chance to get her to follow him before he left.

I would recommend placing the thoughts of his mother under the third paragraph as the second should pertain mostly to how he views himself, given insecurity, confidence, pride or arrogance. I would also recommend adding some negative to balance positive to form dynamic. A character whom is always sure of himself is oft going to be one who is arrogant, headstrong etc.

Over-all delightful read! Be sure to tag me and highlight edits when you're done!
