After boring myself out, I thought: How did I come to Massive? What was my first experience? So'uh, that was sorta cheesy to introduct this thread. Basically, I am making this to allow others (If anyone posts here) to share their experiences on MassiveCraft on how they found the server, and how they first started off. Well, if you choose to post your first experiences be free to do so!

Let me start this off:
After being tired from mini-game servers and the common modern game-play in Minecraft, I decided to go down into our history and search for any Medieval servers. I spotted MassiveCraft in 2014 when I first got my new Toshiba at that time. I logged on, and amazed by Regalia "v1". I looked around, and generally was confused as heck from the chat plugin. I managed to get the basics, the first person I actually talking to was a player by the username of "bryan3342", now "Canyons". We got along, socializing and talking about how we wanted to start a faction. A few moments later, we ventured into what I believe was Fendarfell and started off. We joined a faction called "Tenebrosam", and the rest is history. I came here for mainly survival, factions, and PvP. After a few months, I started to develop into our role-play community.

ADD-ON:
Oh lord, I forgot to note this. I rejoined Minecraft after around 2 years from not playing as my old Sony laptop broke. I originally went for vampires too, coincidentally with a few others having "shady" characters. I went through one server for around a few weeks and spent around $150 sheepishly to get "overpowered". And yeah, then I found Massive. If I haven't processed through that server, I might have never been here.

ANOTHER ADD-ON ON MY RP STARTS: My first role-playing moments on MassiveCraft were really cringy to me now that I see it. I believe I originally played as a terrible "assassin" named... (My lord)... Frosterio Blizzardo. Sorta based it off my username at the time (Froz3nite) and now seems embarrassing. Oh, and he got me my first jail as I was overwhelmed with things(lol). I first noticed the Tavern, seeing Shayin around and was amazed by his blue name. I commonly saw the Watson Café which still somewhat marks a scar in my time on MassiveCraft. Was really fun, and I got to role-play with many who still play today. Gosh, times do change and sort of saddens me as my memories were really fun!

I joined through Google being a friend and recommending this server when I was looking for rp servers. I logged on, walked up the space path, jumped in the portal, and walked around Silveredge (that was the name right?). I immediately logged off after spending all my silver then didn't return for a year. After that, I came back and just joined a faction. Don't even remember the leader's name, though I still keep in touch with one of the members somewhat. From there, I made a few terrible starting characters, killing them within weeks of them being created. One was a girl with two different color eyes who could see ghosts. And from there I was hooked!

I found the server through my sister and begged her to let me join
Technically my first character was an elderly lady that did nothing but farm wheat and cocoa beans and make cookies. After a week of it I got bored and made a furry werewolf-shifter girl named Seraphina
After that didn't pan out and some fellas with @Omnomivore helped me out I made Ebony
And then Ebony massacred an entire family (sorry Omnom Q~Q I'll never stop apologizing XD It was that bad)
and I made a ton of awful characters.

The only good one was Elizabeth Black XD

I got pulled in years and years ago by @ThomasOverMany, who I believe has left the server (cries). He pulled me in from Sporewiki, where we had met, and tried to get me to join Massive. My first impression of the server was that it was laggy as f*ck, since I lagged out of SilverEdge (spawn city at the time) twice before giving up. Moving to a better computer though, I was able to play and joined VSTC (Ventari South Trading Company) and from there I just kept playing :)

After owning minecraft for about 2 weeks and playing only on minigame servers, someone I teamed with said. Hey. Do you roleplay? You should come check out this awesome server. And I was dragged here.

Then they convinced me that all newbs make vampire characters to which point I made a purple-haired good vampire with unnatural heterochromia (purple/red eyes) and amnesia. Also her parents were both killed by vampires because #edgy. I spent my first few days wandering around Nightsun, digging out a basement, and turning into a vampire via the vampire plugin. I was dragged onto the old Wikia (it's a terrible pre-wiki place) and made a page.

And a glimpse at the horror of the wikia and my (eventually beloved) first character:

Then I got dropped off at the tavern and was told "Go rp". To which point I met someone who played an Agni named Ingulf Tezari and moved to his faction (Insurgo). This faction helped get me involved in the MassiveCraft community and my character joined the Tezari family. I discovered the forums and lore 2 weeks later.

I was looking at the Vampries Plugin to use on a towny server I was staff on, and decided to pop on in to see it in action. After going to the website, I realized, "oh shit. These guys are the faction makers!" So I jumped on right away. And got lost in Regalia. Since I was still a staff on another server, I wasn't committed, and was like, "nice server, but too big for me."

After my server owner became even more of a dick than usual, almost every staff member was like, "screw it, I'm out." And one out Head-Mod (highest staff rank possible) decided to leave, we all left. I became Admin on a new towny server, but I also spent a month on Massive during this time. I actually got branded a vampire, because my old skin had red eyes (oops). Still It was fun and I did a little RP.
But I had to do Admin stuff, so after a month I lost my property and left Massive. Then my server kept getting ddossed, so I went off the grid and left to play minigames.

That lasted about a month. After which I got sick and tired of a bunch of 8 years olds whining about everything, and an incompentant staff which cared more about adding shoddily coded games than actually fixing tps issues. So I thought, Massive seemed alright, Lemme see how good they are.

Went to the Wiki, read the staff codex....

...Immediately joined Massive permanently. I was very pleased with the way things get done around here. And even the saltiness I see is even sophisticated. So I made this my home, and will never leave until I quit Minecraft.

So yeah, thanks guys for having a server that someone my age actually feels welcomed. The community is ageless, unlike other "family friendly" servers. Better stop typing before I make this an Introduction thread XD

I was on a temp server (it's normal state got destroyed with grief) that had the vampire plugin for fun. I never realized that MassiveCraft was a server when I saw the vampire page, just a plugin developer.
A year later I went back and it was 'oh it's a server'

I joined, became a vampire (Or several. I got killed a lot.) Created an edgy 'vampires are good character' ( I BET @Thaurdaer REMEMBERS) and went from there. Half a year later I realized "This is gross I want to follow lore better" and made an Isldar and gradually evolved into slightly better roleplaying trash.

Sorta same with me. I played shady vampires, played a minorly incompliant Isldar, then ye lol.

-Coughing intensifies-
Butyeah, I felt bored one fateful evening, googled 'MINECRAFT ROLEPLAY SERVER 1.[idek], I clicked on the top result and ended up playing a Maiar that looked a lot like an NPC villager for the next 72 hours.
Then I decided 'lol imam elf it up', so I elfed it up.
Then we come to the present day :DDDD

Edit:
Thought I'd go ahead and apply a bit more to this, so...
> I joined the server late January in 2014
> I coughed up the lovely aforementioned noob character... lovely, lovely...
> I developed my character to be better suited to the lore and the world he was exposed to, applying a number of changes every so often.
> About three months in, I successfully got my character into the guard force and, with massive amounts of sleep deprivation, achieved the rank of 'Captain' after some amount of months... or weeks... either one of the two..
> Massive improvements in terms of roleplay capability was made during the time in the guard, due to increased exposure to some of the 'higher tiered' roleplayers of our community.
> After the guard reforms, and some other stuff, my general presence in the community sort of shifted back quite a bit, constantly declining to the extent in which I'd pretty much disappeared for the best part of a year, or something along those lines...
> Now, that hiatus of sorts certainly induced a number of changes, of which included attitude towards players - nothing negative - and general RP ethic. Still trying to get a hold of that...
>Aaaand now today. Sort of like, somewhere in the background... hehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Sweet, sweet Aria.

I don't really remember how I found out about Massive. But I do remember my first RP character. I was a vampire guy that killed a "vampire king" in the sewers and became the vampire king and gained access to his army. We raided the tavern and killed like five people and then some 6 year old summoned a knife and shanked me to death and claimed by vampire army.

My friend and i played on a hub server that featured a factions world. We agreed that we could make it better so i went to download the factions plugin... and found that the creator of the plugin has his own server.. so, we got online and quickly erased that idea of starting a server.. he wasnt into starting over on a new server.. but ive been on every day since. Almost a year now.

When i started i joined, what was the largest faction at the time, Asteria.

I was looking for a LARP Group, but found a Minecraft server.

I tossed money at Minecraft and then got on.

Had fun, was vampire...

Then got gud.

I remember my friend Harshsparrow brought me on here (we're good friends in real life). I can recall saying that the "server looked boring" from the spawn of SilverEdge, which I regret saying because now I've been stuck here for 3 and a half years of my life. LOL. Harshsparrow had invited me to his faction, Aurora where it all started, and we basically started many factions in Ceardia. (Rip Ceardia, I'll always miss you. xP) and here I am today, the hippo that farms melons and chorus fruit all day. :)

My friend @rng11 were playing on this crappy little factions about two years ago, when one day he told me "Hey go on this server called MassiveCraft!" At first I said no, I didn't want to start over. So after a month or so rng got himself banned for, funnily enough, advertising Massive in the chat. Because of this I said screw it and joined the server. When I first joined I ended up joining a faction that my friend was actually at war with, so I only stayed for a few days. But in those few days I started to look around the worlds and was amazed by the quality of it, I had never been on a server that was that beautiful. I joined my friends faction and started off from there, almost two years later and I'm an addict to Massive now.

I LITERALLY DID THE SAME THING. MY FIRST CHARACTER WAS A MAIAR MERMAID PRINCESS THAT COULD WALK ON LAND. THEN I DECIDED NAH AND MADE HER AN ELF. that was like three years ago i think. two??? idek

This describes me. In all my roleplay history, I am entirely roleplay trash.
Except. I wasn't edgy enough to do a vampire. Instead I was werewolf shapeshifter chick because when I was 12 and read Twilight (yes, I mean the once-popular vampire novel) I loved Twilight. I loved the whole series and feel like the books weren't that bad... I mean I was only 12 at the time

(a very good book to read if you are like me and are very invested in reading Romance Novels *see I admitted it* an amazing book series to check out is The Discovery of Witches the sequel to this book is The Shadow of Night and then the final book is The Book of Life overall it was a phenominal series, I highly recommend it even if romance isn't what you love, it's intellectual, compelling with action... BUT DISCRETION: this is considered a Young Adult novel... It has some passionate romance scenes since SPOILER: the main character ends up with the main male vampire, they get married and yes, they do comsumate the marriage bed. However, despite the adult content and a few adult themes throughout *especially in the third book in the trilogy* If you are of age, allowed to read it, and are interested in that sort of thing definitely feel free to check it out.

You won't be disappointed, I promise. If you are? Then I'll apologize and give hugs and maybe compensenation or something I dunno <3

I never owned Minecraft, I always played on a friend's account, on and off.
Eventually discovered modpacks and played more often, often solo or local servers with friends.

Then at University, I used to play SkyBlock with a friend from my home city.
One of our lecturer's main area of study is roleplay in video games (I study Games Design fyi) and after about half a year I wondered if there is such a thing as Minecraft roleplay. A quick Google search and I found MassiveCraft.

Upon joining, I went and did the roleplay tutorial and read the guides on the wiki.
Came up with a loose backstory for my first character and plunged into action like diving into cold water, never having done roleplay before.
It was cool learning about all the lore and races together with my character, and what really got me hooked was how everyone's stories seemed to interlink and create an endless chain of events and stories that otherwise is impossible to achieve in a regular video game.

Met some cool people both IC and OOC. I have been on various servers before that had the factions plugin but I never understood how it worked and on Massive, I saw in recruitment chat someone asking for people to join, a little nervous I messaged them and joined their faction, turns out I was the only other person beside them.

Apart from the sad fact that many of the first people I met aren't active or not as active anymore, it was still a great start and, well after almost 5 months I am still here (usually I'll stop liking something after 3 weeks), so I'll let that speak for itself.

PS: I now own my own account, all because of MassiveCraft

I came to massive because "ooh races, I like skyrim",

MY FIRST CHARACTER WAS AN 800 YEAR OLD AGNI SCIENTIST NAME (I can't even remember)

I WORE A SPOOKI HOOD AND GREEN GLOWI EYES WENT ROUND EXAMINING TINGS AND BUILT A PAGODA LAB IN ELLADORK.

MY RP STOREH WAZ DAT I DISECCTED OTHER AGNI AND STOLE DER "AGNI CORE" TO MAKE ME LIVE LONGER,

OROCHIMARU STYLE - I HAD AN RP WHERE I PLAYED AS A JUDGE IN THE COURT AT OLD REG'S SPAWN.

OH MY LAWD THE TRIAL WAS A MESS AND I DIDNT EVEN KNOW SHIT OR WHAT I WAS DOIN.

MY SECOND CHAR WAS A NUDIST VESPID PRIEST NAMED VEEAIAI, I HAD AN APPRENTICE NAMED AIEXAI

And then I finally learned how to not be shit at Roleplay and made a Qadir named Abednego of Idoc, of age 50.

Back when Qadirs spoke spanish for some godfuckingdamn reason.

He was an apothecary from Ferrah'bean that came to regalia, but regalias were like "eeew qadirs" so we was forced to work underground.

So he had to work as an apothecary for criminals n'shit, and eventually he formed a vigilante group called the second wind calvary. We even had our own flag and shit.

He fist fought soooo many people on top of the regalian Cathedral, and even got thrown out the damn window once AND survived.(somehow).

Infact, he frequently beat people up on top of rooftops and in the sewers.

And if he didn't fist fight them, he'd beat them with whatever item he had available for an improvised weapon....
Including but not limited to:
  • A staff
  • A picture frame
  • A potted plant.
  • A plant with no pot.
  • One left Boot.
  • Water. (Just water, no bucket or bottle)
  • His shirt.
  • His voice.
Most of the people he fought were Vampires, Mages, Criminals, Mercenaries, Soldiers, and (one time) a noble.

Unfortunately at that time in Regalia, most criminals were terrible boring PityMeSenpai snowflake Vampires.

Being bored, Abenego opened up an INN in Fendarfell (By which I mean I made a fac).

Being bored of that, I eventually made a new fac for my new character, LAMANE XIV BISMUTH CAL , the 65 yo Ailor-Dwarf

He was the Lamane of an enveloped city-state in Ellador that never ever got finished, and he only got RP'd with once...

But to put it nicely, he was a Royal Lumberjack and he also had a Naga slave that he treated with great care, even giving him the finest clothes and giving him basically Royal status withen his realm..

Sadly that faction never got off the ground due to some crazy in-fighting but meh.

Maybe I oughtta bring them back with some rewrites...Abednego was crazy awesome and Bismuth was awesomely crazy...

As amazing as it sounds, I never got seriously accused of GodRP when I played Abed...once because a person called me a GodRPer for not *attempting* to tap someone's shoulder, but like rly?

Though there was one snafu I had when I tried an RP with Tom (Or the guy that played Thomas Kade back then)...he got hit with a pickaxe (IN HIS SPINE) and so my character was trying to do on-the-spot healing but he kept crawling to the yanar healing house....over 7 blocks...after getting tackled 5 times....basically it was a nasty OOC situation and ehm...well lets not open up old wounds.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOng story short, I started out with a nudist vespid and today I'm playing a nudist Maiar.

Why you ask? Because my bookmarks tab is unholy. Good night everyone!

I googled 'Factions plugin server'

Boom. Massive is the #1 Result

I didn't understand chat channels.

I got trapped at a faction world's spawn, really confused about why I couldn't break blocks. I didn't realize chat channels existed, so I kept asking 'Where am I?!?' in General. Derpaherp, nobody could possibly answer that. I logged off for... two weeks? I logged on again, /tp'd back to the hub, and derped into the Roleplay world with exactly 0 exposure to the concept of Roleplay. I'd heard of D&D... kinda? My dad had played growing up. I had a pretty good understanding of Minecraft itself, so I understood the idea of a plugin controlling nicknames, so I fussed with common sense commands like /nick and /chat.

I started in the Sewers.

I didn't find the Tavern until quite a while into my RP experience, which is a little odd, but that's how it happened. I started receiving some great advice 1 on 1 from sewer dwellers, and really began forming a character. I joined an RP family, which was great, and the learning hasn't stopped.

lol just remember

I could have been a factions player!

I logged on and joined a faction I don't remember. They waited until I tped to their base a killed me, then kicked me from the fac. I logged off after only being online for around 20 minutes.

A year later I'd completely forgotten about this server. My friends and I logged in having come from other servers. We were pretty OP at mini-games and other "mlg dank tricks". Then I remember I tried to get 100 regals to make us a faction and I was just there like "well, this is impossible". Then I don't know how but Toku referred me to Brightshore (y'all are pretty dope) and we chilled there for awhile. I was pretty hyped about the rp, tried it once and was like "this isn't me". Then came Vanos (Then slightly more rp and then more PvP). Splashy splashy.

When I first joined the server, I was watching players and trying my best to RP (at the time, I had a "Hoodie" avatar
... oops). I finally found one person who didn't completely hate my choice in skin and so we started chatting (both in RP and OOC). She introduced me to another of her friends who introduced me to a group of people who all moved to caves under the ocean off the coast of (That one quartz mining island).

Around that time, I took an interest in one particular member of the group and I joined her faction of Lanilor. Lanilor was the single most impressive thing I had seen on Minecraft at that point (that didn't last too long, mind you, but still long enough to mention).

After a few months of epic cave-dwelling living, small arguments broke out between members of the group and we pretty much all split and went our separate ways. That almost made me want to quit the server, but then some strange stuff started happening.

First, I got introduced to some awesome new people @Omnomivore, @Miss_Confined and decided to stick around.

Second, I joined a new faction because Lanilor left me remembering my old group and everything just felt.... Off after the group split up (even though very few of the members were ever IN Lanilor).

I joined a faction to help get them off the ground since I had officer experience in Lanilor and started becoming happy again, but something still felt amiss.

One day, by happenstance, I did a /seen on a handful of my friends (some from the cave and some more recent) and noticed they were all in a faction called Mithril. I had heard of mithril from quite a few people and didn't know what exactly to expect.

I was told to download Team speak to just chat with everyone again (I had used skype before). It was then that @BillyWantHam and the rest of my friends "persuaded" me to join.

Though I have been offline for a long time and many of my friends left Mithril, I still consider that scruffy city my home now.

I have been a friend of Cayorions brother irl since way befor mc-team even where thought of, I started to play with the top kek founders of the server themselves

i joined the the server in like late 2013 I think, and joined a faction called Aecheron, which is now Aquataine. I was a freshfaced roleplayer who wanted to get into the scene, and there just happened to be a family named Hellsing ((I hadn't seen the anime, much less knew what it was. I've still not watched it)) Their traits were heterochromia and fox tails, they were also vampires. Now at this point I didn't even know Massive had lore, and thought this was perfectly fine. Then faction slowly fell apart, with Aecherons current leader coming into power and renaming it Aquataine, and the leader of the family went inactive so I left. A few months later some friends helped me get into rp, so I guess I'm sorta kinda better. The family was major cringe, now that I think about it.

Three years ago, I found MassiveCraft, although from what I've seen on this thread many came because of the vampires. Yep, I did too. I'd just finished binging Twilight or whatever. Ugh.

I joined and made a character called Lana Ariezeruan. Typical vampire with an edgy past; you get the gist. <: I met @Rhuyne (luv ya bae) at around this time, her wanting to be infected with vampirism. I also met a few other vampires who were great fun. The nostalgia is real!

Went on to make a few characters which I never used. Only Helan was approved; I don't even remember the names of the others. ^^ More recently, Sybil Vogt was created, but she never really got any recognition. Eirian is currently holding the spotlight.

As for factions, the first one I remember is Lanilor. Damn. I had so much fun there. I worked alongside some great people including @Hiddenmonkey10. I also remember saying that I'd never leave... haaa...

Moved on to make my own faction, Lithrane. It was fun while it lasted, but I found it hard to run a faction effectively. Made quite a few friends here! I went inactive and it disbanded, and then it was looted... by Arakdan. I think when I came back I went to Valorian and left to join a friend in Arakdan. A few months later I left and tried to find a new home. First, I joined Evedor, and then Brightshore. I highly doubt I'll be leaving anytime soon. Love you guys!

ELISE IT'S ARIZERUAN. GET IT RIGHTT.
Jkjk. I still love you.

I actually can't remember how I got onto massive. I remember it was something like. Vampires. Naturally.
I first joined the faction Libertem, and. It was great. I remember asking in help/general chat: "how do u become vampire???" or something along those lines, to which @Erizu was happy to help me become one of those BADARSE vampires everyone was. Some time later, I ended up joining her faction, Lanilor. Man. Great times! I made a character named Ellyn Arizeruan. A vampire, of course. As well as Lana's sister. I wasn't really great at building, or RPing, or PvPing. Or anything, really. And to this day, I'm still not the best at building. Heh. Now that I look at it, I kinda followed her like a lost puppy since she was the only one I really saw as a good and trusted friend. Some time later, that changed though, as I really got into RPing. I made my Ithanian, Isabelle Beaumont, who I played for quite a long time before growing bored of her and shipping her off to godknowswhere. I made her Ithanian because I was really into French culture at the time. Today I still find it a cool culture, but I particularily like Spanish culture as well. Back in my early days, I was kind of an annoying kid, not going to lie. Some people remember me in my early days, but I'm trying to erase that past by being as helpful as I can to newer players who might be in the same situation I've been in some years back. I was also incredibly nervous about RPing with staff, heh. I still was until a few months ago, but now I feel more at ease. I made tons and tons of characters along the way, as well as meeting awesome new people. One of those is @Chiruda. I also kind of forgot how we met, but we've grown very close and I still talk to her actively. I joined her faction at some point, and I also had a wonderful time there. I'm currently in Brightshore, alongside Erizu and @Anseran (and we've been bugging Chiruda to join as well but y'know. She's too stubborn). The people there are one of the most friendly and active people I've met in a faction. (Including @ChayChay12345 , @JoyShake , @Bakedfish426 , etc etc) I'm always greeted whenever I log online and we often derp around from time to time. It really makes me feel like I belong somewhere. So I'm happy where I am right now and I wouldn't trade that position for anything. I normally don't write things this long as I feel the tl;dr people, but thank you for whoever was willing to listen to my experience on here!

[Honorable mention is @Pebbles__ . I started talking to him without knowing he was the guy I looked up to during my earlier days, as he was formerly known as tcarey56 or something. So. GG me.]

A few words on how I discovered massive--
uh.
uH...
i just loooked (5 years ago) at new minecraft servers
and decided to join massive
that was on my old account.
