    Captain Finn Porter

    Basic Information (Required)

    Full Name: Finn Morrison Porter
    Age: 33
Date of Birth: January 25th, 273 AC
    Gender: Male
    Race: Ailor
    Culture: Imperial/Highland Ceardian
    Sexuality: Heterosexual
Main Ambition: Taking care of his crew, sailing with them on the seas, and being the best captain he can be.

    Basic Information (Expansion)
As of now, Finn's position in Regalia is a mover of contraband throughout the city. He arrived in Regalia when his ship was capsized; him and his crew found themselves washed up and stranded in the city until they find a way to get a new one. Finn currently lives in a bar that he owns in the harbor; he is usually found sleeping in anywhere but his bed.
Finn was born on January 25th, 273 AC to Morrison "Morris" Porter, an Imperial Ailor, and Karina Porter, a Highland Ceardian. He was an only child, unusual for an Imperial family. Finn vaguely remembers his father screaming at his mother about her uselessness for not giving him more children. His father continually instilled the Imperial ideals into Finn, however Finn did not listen to them at all. Karina, his mother, had Finn help her around the house throughout his childhood.

Finn's short term goal would be to earn enough money to purchase a new ship. With the newly acquired ship, he will sail away accompanied by his crew with the city to their backs.

    Visual Information (Expansion)
    • His face looks worn and used. His hair falls into two pieces on either side of his head; the rest is pulled back into a ponytail. Finn's hair is usually out of place or falling out. It is, also, greasy and sweaty. His forehead is crowded by worry-lines and a couple insignificant scars; his brow is soft, also looking worn and older than its age. Finn's eyes are sunken and dark. They would look like shaded circles on his face if it weren't for his bright blue eye color that shows through his tired looking eyes. His nose is slightly crooked and bumpy from the multiple times he has fallen while intoxicated. Finn's cheeks are mostly bright red due to his consistent drunkenness. The lips that are held on his face are chapped and thin. Finn's beard has patches of gray, but mostly his natural hair color, dark brown.
    • Finn is definitely a tall figure at 6 feet 2 inches. He has a prominent presence however that is negated from the drink. After a few ales, Finn's posture becomes loose. His intimidating factor is erased as he falls into inebriation He does not have any notable body features besides his height, he has a fairly average weight and muscle tone.
    • Unlike most ailors of Imperial descent, Finn is not much for fashion. He enjoys his brown leather jacket that holds its fair share of scratches, tears, and patches. The scarf he wears is a type of tribute to his mother because she use to wear a similar one throughout his childhood. The other articles of clothing that he is seen wearing are nothing spectacular; just a regular linen shirt and some brown boots.
    • Yes, Finn speaks common, however he also speaks drunkard. Finn's voice is slurred and slow. He will often blend words that should not be blended. He consistently pauses mid-sentence with a hiccup or a stutter. Later in the day and into the night, it is very difficult to even understand Finn when he is talking.

    Personality & Abilities
    • First Paragraph: Finn is perceived by others as nothing but a drunk. Whenever he is in public, he is slurring his words, and talking way too loud. Most nights he can be found passed out on the floor in the bar or somewhere in the streets of Regalia. While he knows of his mishaps when he is under the influence, he does not usually care what strangers think of him.
    • Second Paragraph: Finn is a very depressed and anxious person. The only thing that keeps him from acting that way is the drink. He feels hatred toward himself for not being able to put down the bottle. Finn also blames himself for the sinking of the two ships he was a part of, the Naked Lady and the Nightingale. The thought that his crew will, one day, find him incompetent to be captain and he will be abandoned is what sparks his anxiety. He often falls into spells of insomnia worrying about each relationship he has with his crew members and crosses his fingers that they will be there the next day.
    • Third Paragraph: Finn is very protective over his family and friends, specifically talking about his crew. He cares for each and every one of them individually. He will do anything for his crew. He does not generally act any different around his family. However, when it comes to his romances, Finn becomes very emotional and compassionate. His voice will come out softer and more smooth when he speaks to his lovers. Around his lovers, Finn's vulnerability will show. He will often ask for affirmation of their love and reassurance of their presence in the future.
    • Fourth Paragraph: Finn's morality is chaotic good in the way that he is willing to do whatever it is necessary for the good of his crew and those he cares for. If Finn has to break the law once or twice to provide for his crew, he will not hesitate. When he sees someone else breaking the law, he pretty much could care less. As long as it does not affect the crew, he will turn the other way - for a bit of coin.
    Weaknesses (Optional)
    • Alcohol: Finn is a crippling alcoholic. He is always seen with a drink in his hand or intoxicated out of his mind. The few times he forces himself to stay only a little buzzed, he still takes a swig every now and then from his silver flask. Often, Finn is so incapacitated from drinking, he cannot carry out any of his captainly duties.

    Personality & Abilities (Expansion)
    • Finn is constantly touching his face. He scratches his beard, rubs his eyes, or presses his hands against his cheeks mostly when he is in thought or stressed.
    • Finn creates pet names for the people he cares about. He comes up with them when he is drunk (because he can't pronounce their real name). For example: Piper is "Pip" or "Pup", Izumi is "Zum"
    • Finn is able to hold his drink. Of all the years that he has been drinking, the drunk has not thrown up once! - He swears.

    Likes
    • The taste of rum on his tongue. Although it doesn't taste as good when you drink it consistently throughout each day for years, he still appreciates a well-aged rum.
    • The spray of the sea against his face when he is sailing across the waters on his boats. Sometimes he stands close to the docks and waits for a strong enough wave rolling in to the shore; he closes his eyes and imagines being out on the open sea.
    • Watching the ships come in and out of the harbor in Regalia. Specifically hearing all the sounds that comes with docking and setting sail the ships.

    Dislikes
    • Finn hates it when others take his flask away. He knows when to stop drinking, so don't take it in your own hands. He can stop whenever he wants.
    • Finn hates his middle name. His middle name, Morrison, was his father's first name. It reminds Finn of the father that he rejected and ran away from. Therefore, you will never hear him use his full middle name; he just goes by "Finn M. Porter".
    • Finn hates when others look at him like a drunkard. He often deals with this with self inflicted humor. For example, "I'm n't jus'a drun.. I'm /the/ drun'!".

    Relationships (Optional)
    • Piper Eloise (@Sugar_Goddess522): Finn and Piper met at a port where the Naked Lady was docked for collecting and swapping of goods. As always, Finn was in a drunken stupor. He wandered from the bar he was drinking at to the docks. He stumbled onto one of the docks where a shipment of rum barrels were. Finn fell into that shipment, tipping one of the rum barrels, and breaking it. A half-elf girl appeared before Finn's eyes; she was tied up and terrified. She smelled of rum so Finn was easier to accept her, but he did find a liking to her. He took Piper under his wing and taught her everything and anything about sailing. Piper eventually found her way to the helm of the Naked Lady, where she remained until the ship's capsizing. To Finn, Piper is a precious treasure that he can never lose. She is the closest to him of all the crew members. They have formed a close bond that distance, sickness, hardships, or alcohol cannot break. Even though in many ways she is more mature than he is, Finn feels a calling to protect Piper from the world. There is some romance between them; Finn's feelings for Piper is unbelievably strong, however he refuses to admit them verbally to protect her from himself. But, Finn's actions make his feelings known to Piper.
    • Izumi Sato (@UprisingCactus): Finn was traveling around the Yang-Tzu Isles; he was mostly hopping from tavern to tavern when he found himself in a port town. Finn, of course drunk, was stumbling through the streets during the day when he crossed paths with a teary-eyed Chi'ien-Ji. The boy was being forced by his family into a job path that he did not care for. Izumi's story pulled at Finn's heartstrings due to his father's disapproval of Finn throughout his childhood. The captain offered the Chi for a chance to escape, and he accepted. On his first voyage upon the Naked Lady, Izumi naturally fell into the navigator roll, due to his astronomy background. Finn and Izumi's friendship is one of love-hate. Finn's alcoholism upsets Izumi because he must carry his captain home at night more often than not. However, Izumi's introverted personality is forced into social gatherings and crowded places because of Finn. Finn appreciates and considers Izumi one of his best friends. He will gladly do anything for his Chi navigator.
    • Ryoko Himura (@Angelus_Sai): On a return trip to the Yang-Tzu Isles, the Finn and crew were out for a good drink at Izumi’s favorite sake bar when Finn got a little under the influence. As always, Finn became very unstable and stumbled around every inch of the bar. As a stroke of luck (Luck in Finn’s eyes; Bad Luck in Ryoko’s eyes), Finn fell into a young Chi'ien-Ji and spilled her tea. The outraged woman stood up out of her seat and slapped Finn with the back of her hand. Finn still has a scar etched into his forehead from the jewelry she wore on her hand that day. After seeing the state of Finn, Ryoko took it upon herself to be the crew member of reason. She asserted herself into the quartermaster role on the Naked Lady, and the rest is history. Finn and Ryoko have a subordinate and superior relationship. From an outside perspective, it would seem like Ryoko is pulling the puppet strings on Finn. This is true. However, Finn accepts that his addiction is crippling him from being an outstanding captain; he allows her to sometimes command the crew and him. Finn also knows that Ryoko cares about the entire crew including him, so he is willing to take a few orders from his quartermaster.
    • Amir Tahan (@Mortisian): During Finn's time as a deckhand on the Nightingale, the ship docked to pick up a shipment of slaves from Farah'deen. Within that shipment was Amir, an apparent mystic from the village of Silves. After a few days on the open sea, the Nightingale sailed into a storm. During the storm, the slaves escaped and staged a mutiny. One of the crew members was acting erratically; without anyone else on the ship's knowing, he lit the gunpowder barrels below the decks. The Nightingale was blown in two halves. After Finn awoke from blacking out after the explosion, he was floating in the water with debris around him from the now sunken ship. Finn looked around for any other survivors; there was one, Amir Tahan. Amir and Finn used a chunk of the ship as a makeshift raft and paddled their way to an uninhabited island. During their two months on the island, Finn and Amir created a lasting friendship; they found they worked well together. Finn's partnership with Amir is very special to him; without Amir, Finn would not be a captain. He owes his life to Amir; Finn does not think he would have been able to survive on the island without Amir at his side.

    Life Story
    • Finn was born to his Imperial father and Highland Ceardian mother in January of 273 AC. ...
    • Throughout his early childhood, Finn helped his mother around their upper middle class house. His relationship with his mother was something special; the best memory he has with her is when she presented him with a "helping" tunic for him to wear when he assists her around the house. Finn cherished this gift from his mother...
    • Finn's father would come home everyday just before his mother and him finished making dinner and take Finn to his study. There, Morris would sit him down and preach his Imperial principles. Mostly, this went in one ear and out the other. When his father began noticing that Finn wasn't latching onto his teachings, Morris grew relentless to push them onto Finn. On the day after Finn's seventh birthday (January 26th, 280 AC), Morrison came home angry and frustrated; he must have been thinking about Finn's lack of Imperial ideals, Finn's father ripped his "helping" tunic from his mother off of his body and threw it into the fireplace.
    • This continued on into Finn's teen years. When he was seventeen, Karina contracted a terrible cough and fever. She eventually became bedridden; after a year of being ill, Finn's mother passed away on from Qui'quilli Disease (April 18th, 291 AC).
    • Realizing that Finn will never be what his father wanted him to be, Finn took off to the next town over from his birthplace. This town was a small port; not many ships docked throughout the year, maybe at most three a year. However when Finn arrived, a ship called the Nightingale was hiring deckhands for their next voyage. The thought of the open sea was romantic in Finn's head, so he jumped at the opportunity.
    • In the seventh year of serving as a deckhand, the Nightingale picked up a shipment of slaves for transport. Among these slaves was Amir Tahan. Out on the open sea, the Nightingale was mutinied by the slaves lead by Amir; during the mutiny, the Nightingale blew in two. The only survivors of the explosion was Amir and Finn, they fastened a raft and paddled to a deserted island where they spend two months in a state of survival. (298 AC)
    • After they were picked up off the island by a passing ship, Finn began drinking occasionally. However, Amir and Finn made a plan to purchase a ship and sail the open sea together. In February of 299 AC, the two survivors made the monstrous acquisition of a slightly used ship! They agreed on the name, "The Naked Lady".
    • Finn's drinking continued; it went unnoticed however by Amir, Finn only drank at night and got drunk occasionally.
    • Finn and Amir's adventures brought them all over the world. Meeting and picking up a few outcasts like themselves along the way. Izumi Sato and Ryoko Himura from the Yang-Tzu Isles, and Piper Eloise from near Kongehjem.
    • The rag-tag crew had been sailing together for three years (305 AC). The Naked Lady was out on the sea close to the capital city when the storm of the century rolled over on top of them. The brig could not take waves that were being hurled at it. The Naked Lady capsized and sunk to the bottom of the sea. Miraculously, Finn, Amir, Izumi, Piper, and Ryoko survived and all washed into the city together.
    • Blaming himself for the sinking of both the Nightingale and the Naked Lady, Finn began to drink heavily. He drinks in the morning, the afternoon, the evening, and at night. Finn is drunk most of the time.

Hi, I'll be taking over this app.

    • Cultural boosts do not count towards body build.
    • Please expand on his morality a bit more. Each personality paragraph needs at least three substantial sentences.
Make these changes in blue and tag me when you're done.

    @Athelois

I fixed his body shape issue - changing the stat from 13 to 3. He is now - "Average" body shape with low body fat.

I also added two sentences to his morality paragraph!

Please let me know if I need to do anything else. Thank you so much!

Minor edit, but unarmed yields double the points invested for body points, which puts him at 27 and not 25. I'll re-approve this app regardless because it doesn't really change much!
