    Personality and Abilities
    The Core List:
    Moral Alignment:
Lawful Good | Lyonel believes in the necessity of law and order, but also that it must be exercised righteously and gracefully; certain crimes, in his eyes, although never victimless, are neither sinful in their pursuit- stealing bread out of hunger should be treated with clemency and understanding, rather than a lost hand.
    Personality Type:
The Defender; ISFJ | Lyonel’s ideals of justice, duty, and honour have instilled him with a certain protectiveness for those in danger or unable to defend themselves; although this would extend to assisting the poor, he finds his expenses too much to spare any meaningful amount of coin, instead choosing to put his body between harm and those at risk of it.
    Religious Affiliation:
    Religion: Unionism
Piety: 5/10 | Lyonel’s relationship with the Ailor faith is no doubt patchy; although mostly raised in an environment that espoused Unionism at every turn, he finds himself at odds with its singularly Human message whilst himself being a half-Elf, more often struggling with whether or not he counts for its purposes than actually acknowledging those purposes.
    Religion: Dragon Worship
Piety: 5/10 | Dragons present a singularly awkward avenue for Lyonel; a race-blind faith that opposes all the horrors of the Void he himself has faced in the Moors and beyond, but one that has uniquely touched his family life and affected its path, for better or for worse.
    Religion: Avanthar Estellianism
Piety: 2/10 | Exposed only barely to the faith of his mother's people, Lyonel has little regard for their variant on the Estellian Pantheon, and little more for their reverence of the Strong Six. Despite this, he often makes offerings to Ulbannör before battle, and keeps a few idols of the faith of the Ularen plains around his home.

    Personal Code
Humility in heart; recognition of fault should never be hard-sought, and responsibility should always be held paramount, but never should humility be mistaken for self-deprecation of defacement.
Honour above all; be not found wanting for virtue nor reliability, as these are the pillars of knighthood, and that which separates the valorous wheat from the mundane chaff.
Mercy where due; the thief who steals to feed a hungry family is not the same as the thief who seeks only to fill his wallet, and neither shall be treated as though they were the other.
Honesty in speech; be not afraid to speak openly but not derogatorily, for base insults are no real substitute for words of true criticism, especially in the face of poor leadership or senseless directing.

    Life Story
    Birth & Childhood (0-12)
Lyonel Yraenor Deceres is born to Alraesonynn Deceres, a Drahl-Avanthar half-elf, and Madeleine Amalao, an Avanthar, in early May of 273, alongside twin sister Araidith Deceres, in the Imperial City of Regalia. Although the products of what was intended to be a tryst between the parents, Alraesonynn and Madeleine end up staying together for the sake of the twins.

His father, Alraesonynn, raises he and his sister on battlefield tales- being a career mercenary, he is replete with stories of his own valour and the valour of his comrades, sparking a lifelong obsession with honour and knighthood in Lyonel. Araidith is less convinced.

The twins grow up relatively well, though at the cost of their father’s presence- while Araidith grows resentful, Lyonel remains staunch in his faith, clinging to Alraesonynn in the brief stints he’s back home when he isn’t off in some foreign continent risking his life over a land dispute. In the meantime, at the age of seven, Lyonel meets Karwyn Lockhart, a seasoned Bloodcast Knight, convincing him to take him on as a squire and tutor him in the ways of knighthood. Although staying relatively local to the Crown Isle, he still learns a great deal from Karwyn, including the roots of his skill in Pathfinding.

    Adolescence & Teenage Years (13-19)

Alraesonynn disappears from Lyonel’s life for five years in March 286, dragged away by the Chrysant Wars. Ever faithful, Lyonel exchanges as many letters as he can with his father.

At the age of 15, Lyonel's mother brings him to her home tribe of the Apäthee in Avanth Rokhaal, Daen, though without his twin sister, who remained in Regalia with her father and his family. Accompanied by Karwyn nonetheless, Lyonel spends the next two years learning to ride on horseback and speak Plains Elven fluently from his mother's Avanthar family, accompanied by Lockhart and continuing to learn as much from him as from the Plains Elves. A constant outsider, Lyonel finally makes the decision to leave the tribe for good at the age of 17, much to his mother's chagrin, which his mentor takes advantage of to bring him on proper expeditions for the remainder of his time until graduation.

Karwyn brings him through numerous battles and skirmishes, putting to use Lyonel's training on horseback as a more classically knightly figure, and using his newly honed skill in Plains Elven to ensure safe passage when crossing Avanthar lands. This continues for some time, bringing the pair through Altalar principalities and Ailor settlements, past the odd Orken Polorc until, in 293AC, they begin the long journey home.

    Early Adulthood (20-30)

Lyonel makes a proper return to Regalia at Lockhart's side in time for his 21st birthday, visiting Blücherwald with the aged knight to be graduated to a fully titled knight of Bloodcast. Now a man grown as well as a true hedge knight, decides to take the next year as rest, spending time with his family and friends before setting off to Daen, assisting wherever he can. He frequently bounces back and forth between the Crown Isle, Daen, and the Regalian Archipelago, joining armed conflicts and generally travelling, though never truly spending long enough anywhere to absorb their culture or language. He spends a considerable amount of time on horseback over this period, learning how to navigate and pass tricky terrain.

The next nine years are spent much the same; Lyonel joins armed conflicts he deems righteous- up until he lands at the Kathar front in Daen. Although not officially at war yet, he still fights against skirmishing parties- and finds that his mundane skill at arms is usually not enough to crack through the aberrant edge the Kathar hold. In spite of this, he learns to command from the frontlines from his father, communicating with him through letter as much as he can to get to grips with strategy. Almost handed the family business, Lyonel is given control over his father’s battalion, shaping it into a force of fellow hedge knights and soldiers with a sense of righteousness, even collecting siblings from across the Regalian Archipelago and across Daen to join him in leading the troops.

Seeking a way to even the odds against the Kathar he fights, he stumbles upon an Etosian Unionist warrior who teaches him of Order Sorcery- particularly, the spells of Orderly Arms, Deny Entry to Chaos, and Prevent Chaos. With these new abilities at his disposal, he sets off to fight once again, faring much better. He spends the next few years fighting where he can.

    Later Adulthood (30-Present Day)

Returning to the Imperial City, 305 and 306 are eventful years for Lyonel; he has brief stints as guards, once as a Vigilant Shield and once as a Ravenstad Crow Guard. He even makes a name for himself, albeit only for a short while, by competing in a tourney and losing only in the last round against Vulmar Ravenstad. This stretch of glory is ruined, however, by the execution of his twin sister in May 306.

Lyonel leaves the Imperial City soon after, settling as far away as he can- the Kathar front. Although not officially at war just yet, he still finds work along the Ailor borders, fending off Kathar as he had only a few years before. The death of his sister takes a great toll on his mindset, which he attempts to hide from for the following two years by staying as much on the battlefield as possible. Although he attempts to maintain contact with his parents, he finds that they eventually cease responding to his letters.

Late 308 sees Lyonel finally deign to return to the Imperial City- perhaps seeking work, answers, or simply to ultimately make peace with the death of his twin is yet to be seen.
