BACKSTORY

I've been a follower of Int since birth, not that I had much of a choice, since my mother had to gift it a master crafted servant as punishment for failing. Naturally, not wanting to sacrifice a fullborn Kathar, she found a random man in the sewers of Regalia to act as a donor, my mother herself being the other part of the puzzle. She Infused my very being with the abyss she cherished so much. painting it in intricate patterns across my skin. Int too, played a part in my birth. Terror binding a spirit of its creation, Tilmidh, to me, letting it peer through the abyss and see the world through my eyes. I was raised by a Herad-Icon of Int. I'd been given to him as soon as I no longer needed a mother to live. He was kind to me, he even treated me as his very own daughter. Tilmidh, however, had plans for me. It would constantly force it's way through the veil, opening it's many eyes and peering into the world around me constantly. It would whisper secrets to me while I slept, and pester me with it's thoughts every waking hour.

I'd always doubted Int's benevolence when I was young. The people always told me it was good to it's disciples, that it only crushed those who do it wrong. And they were right, but I experienced first hand what Int considers to be 'wrong'. A young man, no older than thirty, arrived on our doorstep beaten within an inch of his life. He begged for our aid, said that we, the servants of his god, could help him recover. Int didn't agree. It whispered to me that he had failed it, that he'd escaped capture without the artifact he was sent to steal. It told me to end him. I refused, of course I did, why would I take the life of a man who'd done nothing wrong. It disagreed. One second I was helping the man to a cot, the next I sat in a pool of his blood, fragments of his skull lingering in my teeth. While I'd always doubted my 'god', it's image was now solidified in my mind as truly evil.

I was eighteen when the Lothar invaded our home. They came in the middle of the night to execute the void worshipers within. Tilmidh woke me, and for the first time offered me guidance and aid. It whispered of the Lothar's location, their numbers, and where to strike. I let the void flow from my body, snuffing out every light and bathing the temple in a sea of eyes. I moved through the building, Tilmidh's tendrils seeped through the halls, strangling knights and searching for survivors. Entering Father's room, pure rage seeped out of my eyes. A Lothar stood in the center, admiring Father's head like a trophy. I dashed forward, attempting to tackle the Lothar, but he easily avoided my reckless attack. Tilmidh suggested I run, that the one before me was too powerful for me to best in my current state. Fleeing the temple, I gave in to Tilmidh's unimaginable power for the sole purpose of taking revenge on the knight I locked eyes with that night.

After four years of rigorous training, I was ready. I'd tracked the Lothar to his residence, memorized his schedule, and prepared to strike at nightfall. Opening the window carefully, I took out my dagger and woke the Lothar by placing it right where their heart was. He awoke, screaming in pain before noticing me, decorated in Tilmidh's writhing tendrils, one massive crimson eye staring into their soul. I only wish he could have suffered longer... no, I don't.

Slaying him was like waking up from a long slumber. I only remember bits and fragments from my time embracing Tilmidh's power, a conversation here, a meal there, but nothing of substance. My training had stayed with me, though I don't recall most of it, my boy could move as if it had been fighting constantly for years. Tilmidh too, seemed to have quieted down, stating that it was 'pleased with my actions'. It actually... began to cooperate, listening to my words, although rarely taking them into consideration. After regaining my footing, I returned to the temple to pay my respects, renovating their graves and gathering my belongings. I couldn't stay cooped up in some abandoned temple forever, Int had its secrets to collect, after all, and I had a life to live.
