Epilogue
A member of an armed force should endeavor to be of creditable moral standing, have a respectable demeanor, and act as an ambassador of their organization, especially those holding commission within those forces. This guide, while not official and enforced, is an incredibly brief set of codes as told by your writer, Baron Avox Petrou, in hopes to see a general improvement in the behavior of all members of the Regalian Military in terms of courtesies, specifically in the public arena.
In Regards to General Conduct and Appearance
- Members of the Imperial Military should endeavor to have a well groomed, hygienic appearance. To regularly clean themselves and their clothes, to keep their clothes and uniform well cared for, and to not appear otherwise outlandish within their control.
- Members of the Imperial Military should endeavor to not act in a manner disgraceful to their reputation, whether it be starting needless verbal conflict, insulting other members of the military, or needless swearing. This applies especially in public situations, as the actions of one can tarnish the actions of all.
- Members of the Imperial Military should endeavor to not disparage the Imperial Military in any way, shape, or form, especially in public.
In Regards to Interactions With Other Members
- All members of the Imperial military should render respects to those holding superior rank or office to them. Respects should then be returned.
- Salutes should be rendered outdoors, and only while in uniform.
- A verbal greeting should be exchanged, during the salute, or in cases where a salute is not present, initially.
- While all Superiors should be treated with general decorum and courtesies, a Superior would be a fool to treat those with expertise in their fields with wanton disrespect, when they are contradicted by their subordinates. To do so shines poorly upon the Superior, and exaggerates the disrespect they may show to their subordinates.
- Subordinates should endeavor to not talk over those above them. This does not apply to when a higher ranking officer has ordered them to speak, as they are considered to be acting on their authority rather than their own.
- All members of the Imperial military should not directly insult another, and rather retain a sense of decorum whilst maintaining military bearing. To not do so is to imply that one cannot maintain a clear mind in the given circumstances, or that one is incapable of the communication skills required of their station.
In Regards to Public Relations
- Members of the Imperial Military are expected to correct each other, to improve upon the military where possible. However, one should always endeavor to praise in public, and to chastise in private. To chastise in public is to present a disjointed front.
- Exceptions can be made when mistakes are grievous enough and have caused great harm to the military. However, when it may reach such a level, one should contact the War Minister of Regalia to authorize such activities.
- Members of the Imperial Military are expected to not release public commentary on the progress of wars, unless entirely positive and not containing sensitive information, without consulting the War Minister firsthand.
- Members of the Imperial Military can not, under any circumstances, denounce or protest against a war or it's justification.
