Hey guys. So, I've been on-and-off the server for around 4 year and a half years.

Throughout me entire time on this server, I've gone through many names, have been in different combat scenarios with different factions, over different disputes, over different wars. I have to say, all the PvP combat and even Roleplay aspects that feed into it, were all immersive and amazing.

I've never had an idea to improve the Roleplay-PvP aspect of the server, but as of today I had an idea and suggestion.

While raiding someone, they could bunker up inside of their base, and never come outside. This would anger a lot of players that love raiding and love PvP, because of the fact of them being able to ignore it.

On some servers, cannons are put into action, and can do damage to buildings and structures. Players could build obsidian cannons, and use those to destroy walls and raid enemies. It was a great way to enter a base and start raids, but would always leave a faction base destroyed, dismantled, and defaced, and would really ruin how something looked.

However, while discussing the idea in General Chat at around 3:00 AM, I came up with an idea.

While raiding, cannons can be used to attack and destroy walls and bases, allowing entry and being able to start a real-feeling raid scenario, which is what a lot of people love! When these cannons are fired, they will destroy blocks but may cost a little to use.

After having the blocks destroyed, after a time-set period (Maybe 3-5 hours, maybe more, maybe less), the blocks will return to their original position that the faction had claimed, and the faction can continue building etc.

I also thought about initially having the chests also be destroyed, the items would drop, and the chests would respawn the same, but without the items. This will allow people to raid and even get some loot back out of it as well.

Leave a comment with some thought, I for one would love to see this kind of aspect become initiated in Massivecraft. Thanks everyone!

TL:DR: Some players want cannons, cannons make things look bad, make it so cannon destruction replenishes after 3-5 hours.

Oh boy.. I can already tell this would drive role-players from ever touching survival worlds ever again.

But might encourage pvpers to raid each other more and be active so they can defend their lands. But then might tip over to pvpers losing everything and deciding they're done.

Neat idea but, the consequences and ramifications of this would be so huge that it's not sustainable.
 
Doesn't have to include having chests be destroyed, it could have those remain in tact, the main thing I wanted to focus on was to have the ability to actually raid areas. But i see where youre coming from.
 
Love the idea, but it all comes with the effort for admins to make more plugins.
 
are you talking about the actual cannon plugin, or just the Classic Obsidian cannon? because they gave the first one the boot 'cause of lag, and i have the feeling it aint coming back

Oh wow, i suppose we should just have the option to make a vanilla cannon but still have that block reset after the blocks get destroyed, maybe less lag?

shouldn't we try solving the problem without new plugins? last I checked there were only like, maybe four (??) tech staff, and i'm positive they're loaded with junk

Ya, but maybe if this gets more attention we can see. But this is for sure a good idea, it may even bring factions a new start, more members joining faction rather then all in role play.
 
I feel like the tweek could be made through the Massive Restore plugin. I'm not saying we should load the tech staff with a lot of work, they already do a lot and I love the work they have done, but I feel like this would greatly help out those who enjoy PvP and raiding combat.

Indeed, but yes this all takes time but if we bring this plugin imagine the possibilities of what can be accomplished. Events, raiding, and immersive play just from doing this plugin. More members as well would be attracted to this.
 
Personally as a pvper I would love this, however roleplayers and new comers will suffer the most. I'm sorry but I would have to disagree with this. Massive needs more players and this would significantly discourage the new comers which is needed the most at this moment.

I agree. Real-life Sieges lasted days with often nothing happening but both sides either staying inside the walls or waiting outside. It would be cool is, while you enemy had some sort of status with you, like being nearby or your power level being low, you cannot trade with other players or /TP. Otherwise I think there are many ways pvp-ers can squeeze rewards out of players in war.
 
but speaking of sieges maybe siege engines would be great for us people who can't fight with bows because last i checked they do no damage, and we suck at melee.
