I'll explain for a moment why the body was delivered to the Lo Manor,
Firstly, Freya expressed that she wished to "Kill the wench again" which was seen as approval of an old Regalian tradition.
The old tradition states that if an assassin fails or succeeds an attempt on a noble and is caught, they either get delivered to the family alive, or already executed. This shows the noble family that nobody tried to protect the assassin, or otherwise tamper with the facts of the case against the favor of the victim. It also allows the family of the victim, or the victim themselves the ultimate last "judgement" by denying the body of the dead assassin a proper funeral, and desecrating the body of the assassin in whatever manner they deem fitting.
Considering Elena had a soon to be wife and attacked Freya out of a fit of emotion, her death was a tragic one, and one possible suitable for undeadism. If her aura was uncapable of coping with the loss of life, it would have returned to her and caused her to walk the streets as an undead. With the severing of the head by their own servant, the Lo family is assured that they will never see the assassin again, that tried to take Freya's life, instead of having to rely on the word of another family, which may have been involved with the plot to take Freya's life.
Note this right is not extended to commoners. Commoner Killers just get thrown on a pile and burned.
