DERELICTION OF THE COURTS

Forget the words 'justice', 'fairness' and 'representation'. None of these words could be used to describe the actions taken against myself by those who hold significant positions in our Courts.
​

​

For the uninitiated, before River Barlowe's trial on the evening of the 13/02, I was man-handled out of the Courthouse by multiple Metropolitan to prevent me from providing evidence that would prove an innocent man innocent.
​

​

My crime? I questioned the Law Minister's sudden (and unannounced) introduction of new charges of Occult Law, additional High Law charges and a new Capital Law charge against my client.
​

​

The preparation time to consult these charges with my client was: 0 hours 0 minutes and 0 seconds. The public announcements assured us that River was only being charged with one count of High Law and two counts of Low Law.
​

​

Given our legal system requires the defendant and their lawyer to prove they are not guilty (guilty until proven innocent), the sudden introduction of new charges prevents the Defense from gathering the evidence to prove they are not guilty.
​

​

What occurred today was a dereliction of justice and a dereliction of the courts. All of those who would wish to have a fair chance in a trial (should such ever sadly occur) must stand with me. Henceforth, I am making two demands upon the Law Ministry:


1. A public apology from Minister Suszenvaela for my mistreatment and my brutal evocation from the Courthouse by the Metropolitan.

2. The introduction of mandatory reporting of charges laid against individuals at least 24 hours prior to Trial. No more secret charges.​

Mister Clovis,​

You have disrespected myself & this office a multitude of times. You (to save what's left of your public image) left out the part where you accused me of 'making up' these charges without bothering to lift a finger to converse with the Metropolitan until the charges were announced. So, no, you will not be getting an apology from anyone in the Law Ministry or myself.

In fact, since you want to make these public notices & bring to light so-called 'issues' that you evidently cannot handle yourself, in person, for a blind grasp of power: I'll humor you.

• You have sent someone who is known as Count Silveira to act as a middle man for yourself & mend relations with the Law Ministry, rather than attend this meeting & handling it yourself.
• You have been removed from the Courthouse twice now, both during trials, once for trying to act with the authority of a Justicar in miss Senira's trial after I warned you once, and once for insulting me to my face. I do not tolerate disturbances, mister Clovis. I have given you many chances. No more.
• The Metropolitan, more specifically the Vanguard Charter - notified myself of these additional charges today. So I am just as surprised as you are, and we are operating on the same understanding.

VICTORY

I am happy to announce that I have secured the passage of the Clovis Law Reforms. Now, all charges laid against individuals will be public information at least 24 hours before trial. While I have still not received my apology, I am willing to call this a victory for us - the people who care about doing justice.
