    Personality and Abilities
    • Character Alignment
      • Lawful Neutral
      • Dedryck is a reformed man, once caught in the wrong, he has learnt from his service to the Regalian Navy the importance of adherence to rules, integrity and duty. He knows where to draw the line and frowns on flagrant abuses of position and avoidance of rules. He is a realist, maintaining an amoral set of principles that advocate an ends before the means approach to all tasks.
    • Character Personality Type
      • Entrepreneur
      • Dedryck is a risk taker and is willing to take on the weight of tough decisions to drive favourable outcomes for himself and those allied to him. He seeks thrills in life, mostly achieved by his life in the Regalian Navy. He is a silver tongued charmer that radiates enthusiasm and passion when in comfortable situations but becomes defiant and reckless when he feels things are moving too slowly or in a negative direction.
    • Character's Religion
      • Unionist, Devotion: 6/10
      • Dedryck enjoys the romanticism and hopefulness involved in practising Unionism. Whilst not entirely devout insofar as regular attendance to events and committed practices goes, he proudly and outwardly upholds Unionism.

    Life Story
    • Dedryck was born in 267 AC to Maike Voss, a prominent Calderligan merchant, and his wife in Keislanderwald. As the youngest of three brothers, Dedryck was raised by his stern father to learn the ways of business and ocean-trade. Maike was a stern and business-focussed man that paid little attention to his sons’ development in any other area than their competence in running a small merchant fleet.
    • As soon as he could walk, Dedryck’s father had him working small jobs on his ship, starting with simple, menial tasks as he slowly learnt his way around the ship and how it worked all the way up to learning how to sail. Dedryck shadowed his uncle, Hans, who captained the ship taught Dedryck about the logistics involved in merchant business whilst Maike trained his sons in the trading side of the business. Spending weeks away from home at a time, Dedryck was raised in a very masculine environment, leading to him developing a boisterous and competitive attitude in his younger teens.
    • As the youngest of his brothers, Dedryck knew that both of his older brothers would be first in the pecking order to take over his father’s business and his age misaligned him with any likelihood of contributing fully with his oldest brother, Aryk, ten years his senior. Dedryck was introduced by his uncle to a small privateering company in Keislanderwald, new faces in the business who had recently partnered with his father’s business. He began to split his time between helping his father and his brothers with the family business and spending time with the privateers as his interest in sailing grew. This was further enhanced as Dedryck was trained to use the cannons on board the frigate belonging to the privateer company.
    • By the time he was 16, Dedryck had sailed for three years with the privateering company and became a particular favourite of the crew. His bold and perceptive personality combined with a jovial and brave attitude contributed to his promotion to First Mate aboard the privateer frigate.
    • In 283 AC, Dedryck was sailing with the privateer company on a routine patrol in the narrow straits between Calemberg and the Calgerligan Union when the company spotted a frigate flying foreign flags and sailing erratically near to local trade vessels. The company attempted to wave down the frigate in a bid to stop and question them but the frigate refused to comply, continuing to sail dangerously close to the merchant ships. The Captain of the privateer company opted to send a warning shot toward the frigate in a further attempt to slow them down but on doing so the frigate returned fire, striking the company’s own ship. A short exchange of cannon fire saw the company gravely damage and as good as sink the frigate, killing over half of its crew in the exchange. The company ship was immediately reported to Calemberger authorities who sent Regalian Naval ships to stop them. The privateer crew, including Dedryck, surrendered immediately and were placed under arrest while an investigation took place. Whilst many of the crew were deemed to be acting under orders, the Captain’s orders that were enforced by Dedryck were deemed unlawful and both were charged.
    • As is common in Regalia, as a 16-year old with sailing experience, Dedryck was offered the choice of involuntary conscription to the Regalian Navy in exchange for a reduced sentence. Dedryck’s father suggested he take the offer, making it clear to Dedryck that any chance of a future stake in the business was no longer on offer.
    • Serving two years in a Calemberger prison cell, when he turned 18, Dedryck began his training to phase into the Regalian Navy. It was not long, however, after his release that his father reached out to him with an apology for the way he had left his son to the authorities two years before and offered him a chance to contribute to the family business. Whilst he knew his father meant well in his own way, his offer to Dedryck was to be married to a Leutz woman to secure an alliance with a prominent aristocratic family by the name of Krier. Hoping only to rekindle his relationship with his father and sapped of excitement in his life that he had lost since his imprisonment and conscription, Dedryck saw it as an adventure in its own right and accepted.
    • The agreement to marry into Krier was well received by his father who, for what was likely the first and perhaps only time he acted selflessly in his own son’s interest, agreed that as a part of the alliance with the Krier’s, the Leutz family would fund Dedryck’s admission to the Regalian Naval Academy and in return Dedryck would take on the Krier family name in the hopes that he would serve their Naval interests in the future. The Krier Patriarch saw it as an investment that would secure an alliance with a well entrenched Calderligan merchant business and agreed. Dedryck married in 285 AC and enrolled into the Naval Academy later that year.
    • Dedryck committed over a decade of his life to the Regalian Naval Academy, playing a very minor role in the background logistics of the Chrysant War during his time at the Academy before finally graduating as a Captain of Commission in 297 AC. Assigned to the Regalian Naval Frigate, Endurance, Dedryck Captained the ship in varied roles throughout the Elven War in 302 AC, the Hadravian War in 303 AC and the Second Songaskian War in 305 AC. During this period, House Krier merged, under the leadership of Richarr Ravenstad, into House De La Riviere.
    • Dedryck was invited by Richarr De La Riviere to join them at their estate in the Crown Isle, an invite that the decorated Captain did not refuse. He stuck up a good relationship with Richarr and Horatio, a budding Admiral and family relation of Richarr. Richarr began to convince Dedryck to become more involved with family affairs, beginning to teach him Leutz and introduce him to the culture. As the two grew as friends, Dedryck expressed his desire to return the investment the Krier’s once made in him by sending him to the Naval Academy and declared that he wished to captain the De La Riviere fleet and its Anglian-Nautknight. This was gratefully accepted by Richarr and Horatio who began, alongside Dedryck to work the family into the military and noble circles of Regalia.

    @ylmadness here we go:
    • Under languages, remove Alt-Regalian and Alt-Anglian. While the Calderligan Dialect allows mutual intelligibility, it should be seen more as "kinda knowing what they're saying half of the time" vs full understanding.
    • On the same note there's a mistype with Alt-Regalian being placed twice where Calderligan Dialect should be.
Make this change and tag me when you're done.
