With the creation of the Holy Sancella in the 1st century AC, it was inevitable that the Church would find itself in a predicament, one that would affect the Church many years after. For with a disorganized Church, it was always to be that the men of the holiest caste would find themselves with differing opinions on the faith. It was during the Diet of the 6th decade that the Sancella, only half a century after its creation, would face it's largest battle and first period of infighting. Under His Imperial Holiness Lilienmar I, a disagreement between the clergy would soon lead to a schism that would keep the Church a fractured body, one that was destined to be united and yet failed such a calling. A destiny written in the purest teachings of the Spirit.

It was this schism that would lead to further schisms in the next years, some that could be mended and others that would be impractical to unite with the Sancella. In this encyclical to the schismatic Churches of our time, I call upon them to unite or at the very least express our wishes to finish the construction of the bridges between us. With the revelation of the Tenth Creed, it becomes clear that this is the opportune period for the mending of the schisms and I shall explain that further in the next sections of this encyclical.

This encyclical is hereby addressed from the Collective Excellency of the Sancellist Conclave to:

During the Diet of the 6th decade, the Evintarin Sect was the first schism to shake the Church and fracture it for centuries to come. While it was the sole schism at the time, it is now the sole schism which has been mended in the past during the tenure of High Reverend Balthazar IV. Yet, this reunification would quickly break down and be replaced by a weak reconciliation between the two which would serve a purpose of falsified unity, both Churches isolated from each other and never to contact one another as brothers of the same faith. The Unionist faith.

It is most clear that while the efforts of the High Reverend Balthazar IV and the High Reverend of Etosil were righteous efforts, it was not the opportune time for such to be carried out between the Evintarins and the Sancellists. It is in my belief however that with the revelation of the Tenth Creed, we have the opportunity for reunification in our grasp and it is of most import that we take this opportunity and act upon it. Allow me to explain.

With the rights offered to the Conclave through the Tenth Creed, the Etosian Church is now fully compatible with the Sancella. The main differing view between these two Churches was the appointment of living Herons and this difference is now defunct. I will bring to view the appointments of living Herons in various Unionist Churches, as well as those upheld by the Synod. For instance, High Pontiff Julius Peirgarten has canonized two living Saints in recent months, who are former Lord Chancellor Louis Delmotte and His High Honorable William Howlester. While other Churches may not recognize living Herons or canonize them, it shall be brought to light that the majority of Church members in the Conclave recognize the two living Herons appointed by the Holy Synod under the tenure of High Reverend Volckamar III, being Saint Emperor Alexander I and Saint Cedromar. The next differing view between the two Churches was the restrictions and standards on appointments to the revered status of Heron. While the Etosian's canonizations are more lax than the Sancellist's views on Saint appointments, these views are now also defunct. Churches are free to canonize whomever they wish and therefore the views on appointments in the Patriarchate do not offend the modern Sancellist ideals.

On the topic of cultural differences. It is natural that after centuries of isolation from each other, one on the Regalian Archipelago, the other Etosil, that this isolation would breed vast cultural differences and therefore stoke the flame of separation and disunity between the two holy bodies. However, in the words of Holy Emperor Theomar I, "In the same light, there can not be just one Church, but many Churches, all advocating for interpretations to suit the needs of the multitudes of Faithful." The needs of the multitudes of the faithful. This line can be interpreted to refer to the vast number of cultures within the Empire and Humanum and therefore would also allow the Conclave to accept the cultural differences between the heartland of the Imperium and Etosil. I will also bring to light the fact that the Holy Synod in the past has accepted those of Evintarin views on various occasions, being those such as High Reverend Thibaut du Pont, High Reverend Balthazar IV, His Worship Ioannis Eliapoulos, His Worship Vladislav Volkovich, His Worship Titus Cretch and his Church, and the late Father Bohdan, bless his soul. I also bring to view the efforts made by His High Holiness Thibaut du Pont who sent various donations to Athos and supported the ideals of the Evintarin Sect.

In short, I bring to light:
  • The Tenth Creed's revelation offers an opportune time for reunification.
  • The Tenth Creed creates a full compatibility between the Evintarin and Sancellist beliefs.
  • Evintarins and Sancellist Churches both accept living Herons, Evintarins in a full sense while the majority of Sancellist Churches in a limited sense.
  • The lax standards for canonizations in the Evintarin Church do not matter in the era of the Tenth Creed's revelation and are therefore perfectly compatible with the Sancellist Conclave.
  • Even with cultural differences, the Sancellist Conclave and Etosian Church are compatible as the Tenth Creed's goal is to represent the multitudes of the faithful and therefore also represent the various cultures of our Empire.
  • The Holy Synod of the past has on various occasions accepted Evintarin beliefs and possessed Evintarin representation in the Holy See.

The once Vultar Sect is a schismatic Church which was formed post Kade ascension. After Emperor Justinian II's death and the end of the Ivrae dynasty, the Vultar Unionists believed that the Kade dynasty were not the inheritors of the Spirit's power and therefore not vested with the divine right to rule. While the now Vultdragon Hegemony may have had a conflicted past in the eyes of other Sects, their current reconciliation with the Sancella and renewed protection under Clastic Law cannot be ignored.

The Vultdragon Hegemony, just as the Evintarin Church, has various interpretations that have been thought of as incompatible by the Church in past years. However, with the revelation of the Tenth Creed, the majority of interpretations of the Hegemony are compatible with the Collective See of Churches that is the Conclave. Firstly, the Vultdragon Hegemony only recognizes Dragonblood Emperors as rulers and therefore vessels of the Spirit. It is within the rights of the Sancellist Churches to recognize any descendent of Theomar I, whether it be Emperor Alexander I, Saint Cedromar or an inheritor from the House Ivrae. If the Vultdragon Hegemony was to reunite with the Sancella, they could easily recognize Cedromar as the true heir to the throne and be legal ever still. Most obviously, open rebellion against the current ruler would not be accepted and would be punished, however the Hegemony could possess these beliefs and be a member Church of the Holy Conclave.

However, while one major piece of the Church's ideals are compatible with the Sancella, the second is not. The belief of the Church that Nobility do not have the divine right to rule. This is incompatible for the majority of Churches as the Churches of the Conclave first guide the Noble families and their lands as the stalwart protectors and interpreters of the Creeds and secondly are bred in a culture that is based around the feudal lords of our realm. Therefore, the two Churches are completely incompatible for this reason. This does not end this dialogue between the Sancella and the Hegemony however. During the introduction, I stated that continuing to build bridges between the Sancella and schismatic Churches is also an option and one I wish to pursue in relation to the Vultdragon Hegemony as while we may not be united, we should still possess lines of communication and retain a sense of brotherhood between the Vultdragon Sect and the Sancellist Conclave.

In short, I bring to light:
  • With the revelation of the Tenth Creed, many of the interpretations of the Vultdragon Hegemony are compatible with the Sancellist Conclave.
  • Reconciliation has already begun between the High Pontiff and Sancella.
  • The Hegemony would legally be permitted to recognize the Imperial Dragon, Saint Credromar, as the rightful heir to the throne and vessel of the Spirit. This is with the condition that they do not openly rebel against the current Emperor, His Imperial Holiness Alexander I, and merely hold these beliefs as an interpretation.
  • The second major interpretation of the Hegemony, that nobles do not possess the divine right to rule, is not compatible with the Sancellist Conclave.
  • While it is believed that the Sancellist Conclave and Hegemony should not reunite, bridges should be built and lines of communication between the two Church bodies should be opened.

The Priscelle Sect of Unionism was formed post Kade ascension, akin to the Vultar Sect. After the death of His Imperial Holiness Justinian II, holy women of the cloth claimed to have been bombarded with visions from the Spirit which revealed to them the fact that with the issues following the death of Justinian II, bless his soul, the Spirit decided to split His power among the Emperor and Imperial Princes and Princesses. With such, the Church of Priscelle Unionism was born, one centered around the matriarchal ideals of Ithania, their ranks made up exclusively of female priests. The spark of a matriarchal Church would become a fire as it sat on a pile of wood, being the female based Sovereignty of Ithania. Due to the Sect's success, the Supreme Reverend at the time would protect the newly formed Church under Clastic Law, Priscelle Unionism becoming an official schism to break away from the Sancella.

With their very own section of Clastic Law, the Pristine Law, the Church of Priscelle Unionism is a rare case where a schismatic holy body was permitted missionary rights to an entire culture, being the Ithanians. This rare permittance from a Supreme Holiness of the Sancella to a schismatic Church makes Priscelle Unionism a powerful and popular Church and therefore one that I believe we, the Collective Excellency of the Conclave should build bridges with. While I do not believe that such a female centric Church should be reunited with the Sancella, I wish to express my wishes to form a bond between the Sancellist Conclave and the Priscelle Church as I seek to do with other schismatic Churches such as the Vultdragon Hegemony. I believe, as I have said many times before, that it is pertinent to the health of the faith to open lines of communication between the Mother Church and it's brothers and sisters of the schisms.

Therefore, with the ratification of the Conclave I inform you of my wishes to communicate with the Revered Princess and the Priestesses of the Church in order to grow closer as brothers and sisters of the same faith. As I have expressed many times over, central in Unionist ideology is unity. A united front against the Spirit's enemies and brethren walking hand in hand along the Great Path destined in the axioms of the Spirit Himself. Let us place the stones for a strong bridge between us so that we may finally feel united, perhaps not in a traditional sense but ever still in heart and soul. We are Unionists after all and working towards the same goal. The Great Way and the gleaming Paradise at the end of our path.

In short, I bring to light:
  • The Priscelle Sect's protection under the Pristine Law is a rare case and one that must be acknowledged.
  • The Priscelle Sect is a popular denomination of Unionism and has special privileges that make it a powerful schismatic Church in the number of denominations within our Empire.
  • The female centric ranks of the Priscelle Sect make it incompatible with the Sancella
  • We find it is of most import to build bridges with the Priscelle Sect as we are all Unionists working towards the same goal.

It is by the grace of the Spirit that we are given this opportunity to finally end the period of a fractured Church and mend the schisms that have plagued us since the first century of our great Empire. With such argumentation for the compatibility of the Etosian Church with the Holy Conclave, I shall hereby scribe out requests for the Etosian Church in order to repair relations between the two holy bodies and perhaps unite them as one in the brotherhood of the cloth. Firstly, I offer the chance for reunification between the two Churches and for the Etosian Church to join with the ordained men of the Sancella as a member Church, to have full voting rights in the Conclave.

If such a reunification is not to be, I hereby request a meeting between the Conclave and High Reverend of Etosil in order to show a sense of brotherhood between the two holy bodies and truly bring an end to the decades of animosity that plagued us. I believe it is pertinent to the religion's health that we continue to build bridges between one another, always looking towards the chance for unity for our faith is built around unity. We call to the laity to unite with their brothers and sisters and uphold the Great Way as one. How could we possibly preach this message to the laymen of our Churches if we ourselves are not united. If we ourselves are isolated from one another. Isolated and forever to be a truly fractured Church.

With these offers and requests of our own, I call upon the High Reverend of the Evintarin Church and his Synod to compile a list of their own requests as to further the message that this is indeed a group effort and in no way intended by the Conclave to be one sided or an attempt at determining superiority. I have merely found that we Churches can finally reunite. This is our chance and I believe there is a necessity for unity that must be pursued and captured.

In short, I request:
  • The chance for reunification is offered by the Conclave and if such is accepted, the Etosian Church will be offered full voting rights in the Conclave and the schism will come to an end.
  • If such an offer for reunification is not accepted, the Conclave would simply wish to pursue the chance to build bridges and bring a final end to the decades long period of animosity between our Churches that occurred long ago.
  • We call upon the High Reverend and his Synod to compile a list of offers and requests of their own in order to further the notion that this is a united effort and a true attempt at joining together for the sake of faith and unity, not power.

With the thoughts outlined above, I hereby offer a small list of requests for the Vultdragon Hegemony. As I do not find the Sancella and Supremoclast to be compatible with each other in terms of ideals, I therefore find it pertinent to at the very least build bridges between us and improve relations in order to return to an air of unity between the cloth of Unionism. I call upon the Vultdragon Hegemony to outline requests to us and implore the High Pontiff to accept this offer by moving towards this line of communication between ourselves and entertaining this encyclical and our requests as a sign of brotherhood.

As said, this is an important move in the faith that will show signs of healing throughout the Archipelago and inspire our flocks to listen to our words on unity more intently. Unity is a cornerstone of our worship and we must serve as an example and be the true brothers that we are meant to be. It is time to set aside differences and make amends as to end turbulent times of animosity between the Sancella and schismatic Churches and therefore I call upon you, High Pontiff, to join with us and improve relations between the Holy Conclave of the Sancella and the Vultdragon Hegemony.

In short, I request:
  • For the High Pontiff to entertain this encyclical and make moves alongside us to build bridges and improve relations between the Sancella and Vultdragon Sect.
  • For the High Pontiff to compile a list of his own requests as to further this effort to become true brothers before the righteous eye of the Spirit.

Mirroring 'Sɛkʃn IV, I shall reaffirm that the Sancella and Priscelle are not compatible due to the male and female centric views respectively. However, despite this considerable difference in views, I request the same of the Church of Priscelle as I did the Vultdragon Hegemony. It is pertinent to the faith that we Churches show unity, even if we are not to unite as one. We must build bridges with one another and grow closer as brothers and sisters of the Unionist faith as to better administer the teachings of the Spirit to the faithful.

I therefore outline a small list of requests to the Revered Princess and the clergy of the Church of Priscelle in Ithania. I call upon the Revered Princess to consider my thoughts written in this encyclical and to truly accept these opinions, beginning to build bridges of their own with the Sancella as to show a sense of unity to the faithful. I also call upon the Revered Princess, as I have to all others, to compile a list of their own requests to the Conclave as to form a mutual effort that is endorsed whole-heartedly by both sides and to make this a goal pursued by not only one Church but many.

In short, I request:
  • For the Revered Princess of the Church of Priscelle to accept the words outlined within this encyclical and to build bridges alongside us as to improve relations together.
  • For the Revered Princess to compile a list of their own requests in order to form a mutual effort and not one which is one sided and instead endorsed by the many.

In conclusion, I offer these words. It was not the intention of the Spirit nor Theomar to have a future where their Church is fractured nor was it the intention of the Church to be an ununited collection of Churches for so long. The Creeds themselves speak so profoundly about a united faithful. How all must carry the burden of the Great Way and the only way to do so is through a united front, an army of the faithful walking hand in hand for the Spirit and His word. The schismatic Churches should not have been left unattended for so long and it is in my belief that if the Tenth Creed would have been revealed when it was written, the Church would not have broken apart and we would be a united Conclave as always.

However, due to the flame of separation growing over many years, it would be unlikely and outright impractical for the Church to reunite as one holy body, an amalgamated Conclave of various member Churches. However, it is in my belief that it is not at all impractical for the schismatic Churches and the Sancella to grow closer and begin to form better relations between each other. To be true to our message, this action is pertinent to our future and I call upon the schismatic Churches to act now for at this very moment, we finally have a true opportunity to once more be a brotherhood. Not isolated but connected as the Churches of the one true faith, Unionism.

@_GoldWolf_ Due to work load I don't have time to write full RP responses, so I'll try to publish the interpretations as shortly as possible:

Regarding the Vultarin Supremoclacy & Priscelle Unionist responses:
  • Both churches are indignant about the general sentiment of the message "you are wrong, but we're willing to overlook your wrongness for the sake of limited cooperation". Both church as such abjectly reject any "bridge building" as defined by the predominantly Sanchellist Reverends.
  • The Priscillle Church notes that the right for women in clergy is irrefutable, and any position (whether wholly or limited) taken by the Sanchellists to deny that will result in their complete rejection. The Priscille Church is uninterested in cooperating with clergy who look backwards in time to hold onto dying principles.
  • The Vultarin Supremoclacy notes that it never really had any interest in working with Sancellists, and this is (one would likely conclude) because the Supremoclacy is immensely powerful and all-controlling in Vultaro and Montania. They are likely not interested in letting another church butt into the area and share power, nor are they interested in letting their beliefs be confined by the permission papers handed out by the Sancellists.
Regarding the Etosian response:
  • The Etosian Church rejects the current conclave as politically incentivized heretics, noting particularly that part of the shism mending operation under Balthazar was with the caveat that the Sancellists would consult the Etosian Patriarch on every living Heron declaration, something they did not, and something that the Reverends have tacitly allowed to run so badly out of order that it resulted in a soulless creature being declared a Heron by one particular church, and none of the Reverends throwing a stink about that, thus declaring their solidarity with the decision. The Etosian church believes the Sancellists are merely interested in using the Etosian Church as a projection of their personal power.
  • The Etosian Church believes that the Sancellists are all corrupt and rotten as a conclave, and that their members are all uniquely politically or personally motivated, and that their piety and virtue has long left them, what with Reverend Harhold not condemning war crimes of his relatives, Reverend Peirgarten bending his religious authority to benefit his family, and other Reverends making political decisions.
  • The Etosian Church remains a very stalwart devout organization that demands complete self-denouncement from one's secular family or attachments to become part of a strong church structure, that is to say, they also abhor the disorganized and pillarized structure of the current Sancellist church and see the decentralized authority as a disease that should not infect their clergy.
Long story short. The other (still centralized) churches think the Sancellists are a hot mess of political corruption and heretical self-service and they firmly keep the door shut to any inter-faith monologue while the Sancellists take such an offensive stance that they have any room to dictate what the other churches should and shouldn't be allowed to do (especially when from a military metric speaking, both the Vultarin and Etosian Church control far more land and troops than any of the other Reverends put together due to the steady erosian of church property and authority in the Empire by successive political Reverends.
