I feel that it might be interesting to gather the people's thoughts on what premium features could be added. I will not go into depth about the current environment and the necessity for new features, but as I was looking around, a lot of people are unhappy, including premiums. So what do you want to see? You don't need to produce long arguments, it's brainstorming, so whatever pops into your head, I'd love to hear it! I'll compile it into a list on the O.P. Please note that this is in no way an official MassiveCraft thread or the like, merely something done out of interest for hearing the community's voice. Any suggestions please bullet and place in bold as to make it clearly visible. Any extended discussion is also welcome. The listed suggestions are partially my own, but primarily sourced from the thread.

Added a fewv of my own. It's worth noting that I don't necessarily support these.

I have no idea if this is possible, but having premiums have the ability to give item descriptions

Maybe premiums could have the ability to get custom banners to get approved by staff. Like things that flashily represent a roleplay group or faction.

Some EULA incompliant stuff in BOLD within this following list:

Premium Features:

  • Client side forum appearance customisation
    • Colour scheme
    • Pages on home page
    • Layout
    • Default font
    • New font types
    • Other players' name colour
    • Any more?
  • A premium-only RP hotspot - Eula Incompliant, regular players have to have access to same areas as prems
  • Events for donators
  • Premiums can further customise armour colour
  • Premium only voting items - EULA breach? - Eula Incompliant, unless the items are purely cosmetic
  • Premiums have higher chance of better voting items - Eula Incompliant...I think
  • Premium only mini games - Eula Incompliant, regular players have to have access to same areas as prems
  • Greater/easier firework customisation
Now for my ideas:

1. The ability to ride horses in Regalia.
2. Being able to create quests for their factions (so long as the items that are awarded are cosmetic...or is this Eula compliant at all?)

But in all honesty, I think that premium is just gonna die out, and the server will make money by doing this:
Our third step, is to gradually implement other methods of generating revenue for the server upkeep. These are still high up in planning, meaning we cannot put the details down exactly yet. We can however say the following:

  • Crowd funding projects in which players can help fund projects which take time and effort to finish. Think for example being able to choose what feature will be released on the server next with your donations.
  • Automated advertisement for factions/players on the server that can be bought with a slot based method.
  • Server wide benefits purchased by players and then given to all players while also announcing their name publicly.
  • Purchasable Wiki pages.
EXAMPLE: Dr. Fong donated $50 and bought the whole server Premium Backpacks for the next month!"

I kind of like the sound of that! Good ideas!

Larger projects could be paid for by lots of people. "We have raised $150 of $300 needed to unlock the new Regalian PvP Arena."

Instead of Premiums and Non-Premiums, it'll make the community work together towards a common goal.

This is mere brainstorming, it is worth considering. Ideas do not need any real thought, it's just designed to be a great pool of ideas that can later be narrowed down.

  • Should add the ability to change background of forums to custom pictures or something
  • Ability to have a pet family follow you around (Like 2 pigs and 5 baby pigs)
  • Ability to spectate others in a minigame

I do not think that prem only mini games and rp place is against the elura because it is not gamechanging really and it will probabaly will not be useed like tthe lounge is now.
Ideas from me
a hall where all premes heads are shown and names displyed
premium housing in regulia

On the contrary my friend. Non-premiums would not be able to play/RP with premiums, therefore limiting contact between the two when split. It does in fact violate the EULA

No because there ill still be regula and the tavern and the Tyberian bank so prems would still go there to roleplay and some prems would find it dull without non prems

I think that premium features should stick to in-game. I don't get premium to have a forum sig.

Limit the ability to select a certain painting by scrolling to premium only, the same paintings will be available to everyone but it will take longer to put them up.

Premiums could have access to different armor/weapon textures in the massivecraft texture pack (if this can be done like the custom block textures?)

To extend the armor/weapon idea ( if possible):
These items can be created by adding a certain item to the crafting recipe...maybe a dragon egg? When donating the player will recieve a certain amount of these items (they will be made non-placable?) just like they get regals now... 2-3 per month purchased maybe? Items crafted this way will only be usable by premiums.

You're missing the point. There will be a place that non-prems can't reach, and that would accept gameplay, therefore violating the EULA

It would be fun for Prems to be able to color their armor however they want - that way instead of being stuck with people in blue diamond armor and having no idea who's who you could have sides with different colored armor. It wouldn't affect the actual abilities of the armor, just the color. Naturally you'd need the Massive texture pack for it to work.

Also, maybe give Prems access to blocks like Food Barrels and the like, since those are purely cosmetic in nature?

Oh, perhaps the server could have advertizements (like from Real-World companies) and by being prem you can turn them off, but non-prems have no choice? They would pop up in a chat that only premiums can leave. Since it wouldn't affect gameplay at all it *should* be legal under the EULA, though I don't particularly like the idea of non-prems suffering advertizements.

Could work, but the back lash that would be received by this would b heavy. Less educated people would call the admins sell outs even through they do it to keep the server up. Maybe they can advertise other servers aswell, I am sure smaller servers would love the publicity and would be more willing than large companies to spend a little money to have adds on the server. Also they could out adds on the forums. They would be less annoying than in game.

I feel that if people can't accept such a small advertisement to support this awesome server that they have access to for absolutely no money... well, they don't deserve to be here at all. If they really hate it, 6 Euros to avoid adverts isn't that bad of a deal.

I agree, but have you read some peoples comments on the EULA? Peopleike the fact that server hosts are being crippled by this, people hate the idea of giveing server hosts money. But they love callin people sellouts. I don't like it but a lot of people are like this in the internet, people who don't know how the real world works and don't get hosting a server is more than pressing a button that creates a server.

They won't like it when 85% of all servers shut down... I can't wait to see what happens to the PvP servers out there that make their money by selling victory to people... lol - but if it does harm the server than it would be removed I think.

We can only hope Mojang stops being hypocritical idiots and see that MineCraft has only lasted so long because of large servers like this.

Also that suggestion of a pet family can have it's isssues, we already have issues with people complaining about the lag, and having.. lets say... 5 premiums with a bunch of pet armies would... awfuly disturb RP, create lag, and such.
Second, i think in the EULA, they mentioned that the usage of capes is restricted, soooo... that isn't going to happen... if i read that correctly.
Third, access to food barrels (Produce crates) i can see a hole in it already, because one, it could give an economical advantage to premium members, because people are gonna want those blocks, they are gonna pay so a premium can sell those to them, sooo i do feel that... that isnt going to work.. because it does set some kind of advantage on that aspect.

Maybe the ability to wear customizable capes or faction capes (is optifine required for this?)
I know it was possible to create and use faction capes before, what happened to that?

Capes are not allowed in the EULA I believe.

What about to go with our new /lore ability, the ability to rename things for free since renaming items is just cosmetic and doesn't affect gameplay.

would integrating some features that are similar to the better pvp mod be legit? ie :
  • Potion effects outside of inventory
  • Armor/Food info outside of inventory
  • Notification system: Warnings on low hp or hunger.
this could also be applicable to other information only type effects that as far as i can tell are a convenience only and do not affect gameplay

Advertising is against the rules...
They would be hypocrites kindasotra if they advertised.
