His father, Gregoire, was the patriarch of a long-standing line of Genevaud landholders proclaiming a lineage spanning back to Ithania, managing regional estates under the local cantons, with Gregoire's father having served out a term on the Common Assembly. The eldest of six siblings, Claude was raised with that in mind, brought up under martial tutoring with the expectation of serving as a continuation of his family's long-standing military legacy. During this time, he fostered a long-lasting rivalry with Edmond which would persist for much of their life and only be resolved in recent years. ✻ Early - Late Adolescence | Turning ten, Gregoire made the choice of putting his son into the hands of mentors, the purpose of which to prepare him for service in the Lancyon Order as a Helerian Guard. Claude was robust even as a child, and had no issues in the grueling training the novices were put through. However, he would inevitably drop out against the wishes of his father, spending half a year in training before claiming to have witnessed divine providence which spurred him to chose a path of religious study. Aged ten, he entered into seminary in Basta. Much of this time, early on especially, was just spent tending to the needs of elder priests whilst being taught of the divinity of the Emperor and the intricacies of faith. Much of his free time was spent perusing over military doctrine and strategum, making extensive use of the libraries of the Université cléricale de Basta wherein he sought to establish himself as a self-taught tactician by merit of a broad knowledge of military strategy and the history thereof in hopes of a future career in the militant wings of the Sancella. During this time, he became captivated by the stance of the Themai of Horopados. He found their doctrine compelling, and took it up as his own, championing it throughout the duration of his studies at seminary and beyond. Completing his studies, he showed promise as a youth taking up the cloth and was elevated to the station of a reverend in the years following due to some like-minded allies he had made during his time at Calemberg. In this time, he married his first wife who he later became estranged from, siring three sons. ✻ Early - Late Adulthood | Claude was assigned a Verwaltung in the far-off lands of Pays-Sud. He would spend the next fourteen years in relative irrelevance as he oversaw a flock of some several hundred in an urban setting. He put in requests to the Synodical council at the time to be given the opportunity to oversee and command a Helerian detachment, though to little avail. During this time, he fostered an extreme dislike for the Ithanian culture and the matriarchal structure that it upheld, seeing it as demeaning to men. He took up the martial arts anew as a hobby during this time and began taking great enjoyment in his physicality, spending much of his time when not delivering sermon or sacrament among the common fighting pits. Early 306 AC, Claude was asked to the Crown Isle by his brother. He entered into the scene of Sancella politics in Regalia upon his arrival and was soon elected to the station of High Reverend by the Holy Synod. Taking the name Balthazar IV as his name for the duration of his tenure, he has taken the initiative as a reformer of a previously stagnant council. His tenure was regarded as widely corrupt, and he put much investment into propping up his brother's powerbase outside of Genevaud. With the abdication of Cedromar from the Imperial Throne and his investment of the Spirit into the Faith of Union, Claude continued to preside over the synod for some months before, in the late summer of 306, he returned to Genevaud and retired from clerical duties to manage his family's estate following Edmond's retirement to a monastic life in Athos post his conversion to the Evintarian School. What eventually followed was a return to the Crown Isle, and his subsequent marriage to Agatha Harhold which ended up being annulled by decree of the Emperor. This brief foray back into politics ended as soon as it started, and the decline of the family followed shortly after with his sister bankrupting the house, prompting him to refocus on his place as a shepherd of the faith first, and all else second.
If Balthazar is what he goes by now it should be included in the name section! Other than that you're fine!
@Rochelle_ Gonna' need a re-review. Threw around the points a bit, reworked a lot of his personality to better suit what has been reflected IG. Dropped his age by two years.
@Rochelle_ I'm sure you'll hate me for yet another re-review, but Fatherland and I have decided to revert our characters back to their late twenties. So it's mostly just proficiency changes and a few edits to the life story to fit with this change, alongside a few changes to the personality paragraphs to better reflect the character. Also included cultural boosts and art.
☼ Staff Review! ☼ Hello, my name is Eccetra and I’ll be reviewing your app today. At the moment you're not using any cultural proficiency boosts. Since he's half Leutz half Dressolini, you could pick between either if you wanted to add it on! - Aside from this one thing, I see no issues with the application, so I'm going to go ahead and approve it! Add on the cultural proficiency if you like. ☼ Approved! ☼
@Bagley_ Sorry for the ultra slow response! Everything looks good here to me. In the future though please put changes in a different color so I can see what's changed. You can always remove the color immediately afterwards so it doesn't mess up the aesthetic. ☼ Approved! ☼
As Arendan is unable to reach a computer within the next week, I will be taking up this Review. My Review: I need you to define what points from your Race Boost you are putting where in order to tell if the Physical Stat Calculation is correct, since that +15 doesn't factor into the Stat. We have done away with the four-paragraph style of Personality in favor of two other possible formats. Please check the Character Application Template to see what those options are, and replace your out-of-date section with the new one. https://forums.massivecraft.com/threads/character-applications-template.54735/ My last note is more of a comment. It has been noted a bit through internal discussion that relations with this character might get confusing and/or difficult since he was implied dead in a Synod statement, but also apparently emerged in House Brilonde before that family was removed from Nobility. My only comment on all of that is to be patient with people who are perhaps confused about this, and to maybe update the end of your Life Story to perhaps definitively clear up those details for this character. It isn't a requirement. Please tag me though once you have done the other edits in green @Canaanite
Edited to clarify Ailor boost. I'm not changing my personality sections. I recall it being said that it was optional for old apps to transition to the new, and considering that section has already been green-lit multiple times with no changes, I see no reason to make this edit considering all the information needed is present and there.
The next time this application is edited in any significant way, you should convert to the new system. But for now, Re-Approved.
I'm taking this application. @Canaanite Are you still interested in getting this application approved?
