Hello fellow Massivecrafters, I write once again! But this time I have not come to suggest as large change as I previously have, and I will try to keep this suggestion "a bit" shorter compared to my other work.

My suggestion is a change in the texture for leather armor.
Why you might ask?
Simple.

I would like leather armor to look more like clothing rather than savage armor.
Sure, savages often wear little to no clothing, and the clothing they wear is often ragged and trashed.
But don't civilized folk also wear clothing, clothing not ragged and trashed, but whole and pretty.

Since leather armor is the only armor that you can dye in vanilla minecraft, and last time I checked, savages usually don't care about the aesthetics of their choice of attire. If leather armor is changed to be more clothes-like people can use it for a wide variety of things, all from looking fashionable(from a roleplaying perspective) to making sure people know what faction they are dealing with by having, let's say, boots with a color that people associate with a specific faction.

If leather armor is made into clothing that civilized folk can wear, people can wear armor in Regalia without looking like they are on the warpath. People could create groups that share opinions and identify by wearing armor dyed in only that color or set of colors.

If leather armor changed into clothing, people can open tailor shops where they sell clothing.
But HoloProject, won't the clothing look identical to every other piece of clothing? After all, there are only 16 dyes.
Many pieces of clothing sold by other tailors will most likely look like someone else's pieces of clothing, but they don't have to! Due to the way the minecraft dyeing system works, where you can combine dyes in the crafting table with the piece of leather to get different colors, you can (theoretically) if you wanted to, create a collection containing 1 pair of pants for every color, but you would end up with 12,326,931 pair of pants, or for you who don't do math in your head, 86 288 517 pieces of leather, from which you would have to kill somewhere between ∞ - 43 144 258.5 cows(Cows drop 0-2 pieces of leather) and to store your pants you would need 456 553 chests... You get the picture? So as long as tailors put some thought into their coloring, and try to make the color as complex as they can, I doubt many will be able to copy exactly the tailor's clothing.

Example pictures to help prove my point.

Just wrong...

Slightly less wrong...

In those pictures I replaced the massivecraft leather armor with one of the leather armors from the painterly pack. I simply picked that one to prove a point, and as a guideline as what I'm hoping the leather armor could change to. The painterly leather is very simple, like the entire pack, but I'm sure that if this change would go through, a more "textured" version would be made, with wrinkles and bumps.

If you also would like for this to happen, feel free to comment and vote. :)

Well, I don't believe that the armor really looks "savage" currently, on the contrary I think it looks quite nice. I have seen better leather textures before, so I am open to change, however I don't feel strongly one way or the other.[DOUBLEPOST=1361885043][/DOUBLEPOST]Although I do believe that the armor wouldn't suit everyone, me being a rugged forest traveler, I sleep in trees many days. I don't think it looks savage, though, just not fit for a posh city boy,

I logged in just to disagree.
We can use skins for clothes. There is a reason why we have leather armor, not leather t-shirts. Plus, your bow-tie leather "armor" doesn't fit in MassiveCraft's medieval universe.
Some people are rangers, you know.

SirTinkles: As I said in the thread, the texture I picked was simply picked to show a more "clothes-like" armor, but everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. :)

Golemlord: I was just suggesting considering leather is the only armor you can dye to look differently, which fits in with clothing. But look at the vanilla leather armor, it looks fine when dyed, and completely okay when not dyed. It can be used both for rangers and "posh city boys"

i like this sorta for a different way. personally i think the whole massivecraft armor looks silly and bulky, i wish wessex would use some of his doku craft armors instead, they look awesome!

If this is it, this was our old leather armor. We didn't use it because leather came from cows not wolves.

If it's this one, it doesn't look like leather.[DOUBLEPOST=1362054493][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, I like our leather armor, just don't wear a hat. I like wearing the tunic, leggins, and boots. They look nice, and I add the hat if I go outside.

But not everyone can make a good looking skin.
And having tailors who can make a lot of money increases the number of roleplay options.

Mmhmm. Tailors can be people who make others skins. It takes a lot more than the ability to dye clothing to be a tailor in medieval times. Heck, often times the dyeing isn't even done by the tailors, but rather people in the textile industry. Plus, what good is a tailor that can only make one style of clothing in different colors?

The style is the colors.
And I never heard of someone making skins for in-game money.

no doku craft's leather armor looks more steam punk, but im not a fan of it either. i just wish he would implement his Gold armo, Iron, and maybe dimond with a cooler helmet.
