Hideyho! Hello! I have recently been considering and contemplating revitalizing the yanar community on the server with the goal to form a proper colony and community of yanar, albeit unlike past attempts and iterations; such as the Nenyarina that was more of a religious cult rather than a true community of yanar- even though it boasted many. This new community I'd like to make pertains solely to the yanar as a race, how they form colonies, how they interact with the other races of Aloria, how they conduct themselves and so on- you get the idea!

But now let's get down to the nitty-gritty and questions and what everyone would like to see! This pertains mostly to people who already have or had a yanar at some point in time, so buckle up!

-What would you like to see in a colony made up solely of yanar, how do you feel they should interact with the world? Should they take a stance of preservation? safeguarding? What are your thoughts?

-What motivated you to play a yanar? What sort of niche did you enjoy most playing during your time with the character? Were they a healer? A scholar? A protector? Historian?

-Would you be interested in joining the colony and taking part in the community, would you like to host events, help create them and partake in them?

-What're your interpretations of a yanar colony? What theme should the colony take?

But I'm also looking for replies from those who may be interested in making a yanar!

-What would you like to see in the community or what would motivate you to play one? What sort of yanar would you like to make? What would make you interested in becoming a part of our community overall?

-For those who aren't yanar- but would still like to join or try to integrate with the race's culture and society, what would you like to see?

Over all, feel free to leave your thoughts below and discuss your opinions or what you'd like to see, also just to clarify! This isn't a thread meant to criticize the yanar as a race, but to discuss over-all thoughts and inspiration, etc etc.

I had a conversation about creating a colony the other day and personally think any Yanar should be able to create a colony - or like there should be multiple colonies. Something similar in how great gangs work currently maybe? Like gathering x amount of support to become an "official" colony because otherwise, there's no guarantee that all of the yanar in a sole colony would agree on the same issues or what the colony should stand for.

Yuna is a protector motherly type, albeit twisted and corrupted because of her dulofall. I enjoy her little evil stepmother role that I have her fill.. and her wrestling luchador beating ass role as well.

Again, I think a sole colony would be counter productive, or at least exclusive in a sense. I'd 100% be down to be part of a community but as a Dulofall Yanar, my character wouldn't really have any interest or welcome to said colony. Maybe a slum Yanar colony for those rejected by this proposed "traditional" colony.

-What're your interpretations of a yanar colony? What theme should the colony take?

A Yanar colony is a place where a Yanar forms their family tree, quite literally. It's where from the point onwards, their lineage will continue to preserve the gardens of the colony, protect the borders and those within, etc. So again, I do not think a single colony for all Yanar should be the goal here - as not all Yanar have the same goals. Theme wise.. Plants. Lots of plants.

I think a (main) Regalian colony should be fairly neutral as far as politics go, but with strong views on preservation. Since Yanar are so varied and a colony homely in nature (not political) I don't think a Colony should be a particularly political entity, and that instead there should be sub-groups which could be minorly conflicting and certainly habe their own political views. For example, while the Regalian Yanar Preserve (ex colony) wouldn't be left wing or right wing or militant or pacifist (only conservationist), the subgroup "Protectors of Eijalle" may be left-wing Fated Faith militants, and might have conflicts of interest with "The Imperial Yanar Coalition", a group of pacifist pro-integration Unionists. They would both be part of the same Colony, however, so they would try not to create physical conflict, and would both be trying to do what's best for the Colony. The whole colony would be more of an ig place and an overarching establishment that would be defended by all Yanar groups. It would definitely have an ig centre where Yanar could gather, and would essentially just offer protection to Yanar that live in and around that area.

I actually started playing my first Yanar for the aesthetic, but I picked up my Haaven because I found the situation they were in at that point really interesting and I thought I'd enjoy the family dynamic. Originally was a mage, but since the magic update has been rewritten into a protector.

Yes, absolutely.

-What're your interpretations of a yanar colony? What theme should the colony take?
To me, a colony would normally be like a village where everyone is fairly close. My image of it is that it wouldn't be an organisation that pushes political agendas (besides perhaps conservational or clearly yanar-related ones) but more a network of characters that cooperate to varying degrees and come together in difficult times.

Preservation should definitely be one of the biggest stances of a Yanar Colony. (I don't really have much to say under this question.)

One of my first real, thought-out characters was Ke'wince Gavenmore, a Yanar, and they were originally just a curious character going about with friends and learning about various things. After a bit, I found out about magic, and she was an Eergrowth mage. Now that there have been lore changes and I've developed her through time, she is a motherly type, with an emphasis on healing, and some baking. I'm positive I still have some tweaks to run through, but I think she is much better than the original make.

I'm more than happy to join the Colony and would be delighted to help out with events, creating them and partaking in them.

-What're your interpretations of a yanar colony? What theme should the colony take?

My view of a colony is a group of devoted and caring individuals with similar if not concurrent views and goals in mind, working together to provide for each other and having each other back. Teamwork and dedication should be seen throughout the members, not only for the benefit of them but also to show the public what they stand for and their devotion to a particular cause (or causes).

The idea and premise of the thread is to make a singular colony to unify a community of yanar both IC and to some extent OOCly, making many split off colonies would be counter productive to unifying them more as a race and interacting with eachother, but dulofall is a curious case in regards to it given they're more lone wolf types or less likely to integrate or- form their own twisted colony with other dulofall yanar elsewhere, naturally I suppose it would end up that way regardless.

Naturally, interior conflict is a must as it helps drive roleplay but I imagine a lot of the colony's roleplay would also be within how it interacts with the other races and how it interacts with the state.

I agree, but as such is the case with Dulofall, what is to say an infected Yanar still wouldn't want a colony garden of their own? They are incredibly selfish and greedy and - as I asked in a Lore Q&A and some lore staff - what is to say they can't just make a garden and declare it a colony garden? It's a Yanar's presence that brings a garden to life in such a way that and the only difference between a colony garden and others that it is, quoting from the wiki, "... the largest or most pleasant garden of a member of the Yanar...".

The question being, in regards to a Dulofall - admittedly mine in particular as she retains her motherly attributes - what is to say they wouldn't want to create a "colony garden" or a garden that they tend to in such a way? Yes, they may not want to share it with other Dulofall Yanar as they are envious and dislike one another; but, they would most definitely try to attract other Yanar to their garden and indeed infect them. Perhaps these separate Dulofall garden/Yanar could serve as antagonist for the centralized Regalian Colony Garden.

-What motivated you to play a yanar? What sort of niche did you enjoy most playing during your time with the character? Were they a healer? A scholar? A protector? Historian?
I first played a Yanar to act as a Historian and Healer (Sage Havenwood), and once that character was put away my next was a world Traveler and a Botanist/Healer (Fern Havenwood). I personally love plants, and enjoy being able to play... A plant... I like their sort-of timeless nature and their ability to take different shapes.

A community of Yanar, I feel, should have an extreme range of cultures from around the world, as well as plants every-which-way. They should be a bit closed to outsiders, but generally polite and gentle to the ones that do get through. They should have a general disregard for age, with the exception of honouring the more elderly of their kind.

If there were a community of Yanar I'd love to be a part of it, and would probably try to be an active part if I wasn't away from Massive atm. None-the-less, I'd love to help create/run some Yanar events whenever I could.
