So I've been practicing my building offline, and I've hit a bit of a roadblock, not a major one, just one I'd like some input from the more experienced community on. I was working on an Inn and decided I wanted the second floor walls to be made of something other than white/grey wool, but I'm not sure what to make them out of. I would use oak wood but that's my floor material, and I hate using floors for walls (Which I've noticed is going to be an issue for the internal walls as well). I'd use jungle wood, but that's my furniture material because it looks nice on the oak. I'd use spruce wood but I'm worried it'll blend in with the Spruce Logs I'm using as structure beams. And I'd use Birch wood but it's my roof color (as you can see in the pic below, I'm standing on a neighboring rooftop). Another thought I had was using an orange wool, since I've seen some buildings of the time painted with a similar color.

So, what would you guys use and why?

Here's a pic of the Inn so far:

(I didn't see anywhere in the forum rules where I couldn't link back to Flickr, and it's against Flickr rules to not link back anyway... if it's a problem let me know and I'll not do it in the future, I'll find a diff host maybe.)

Also as a side note, I noticed there wasn't a tutorial in that section on period building styles and putting them into minecraft. I know people can just google building styles, but a detailed tut on it might help, if someone has time?

Hmm, that could look nice depending on the TP used... it'd look strange in default I think but in mine it'd look good, I'll have to see what clay looks like in the MCTP, but if you're suggesting it it should look fine lol

If looks great with clay. Here is a picture from the upcoming Capital city of Regalia.

Ooooo it does look good. Looks a lot like using wool though, just slightly different. I'll have an update ready in a little while :)[DOUBLEPOST=1355388216][/DOUBLEPOST]Alright, went to clay, and that might work perfectly actually, since it looks good in the greyish clay of MC's TP, AND it gets the same reddish orange color I was refering to earlier in my TP.

Just an update:

I think the stone brick roof fits the wall color better, and I'm hoping window placement is alright. with the room setup and structure beams it's not easy finding good places for them lol.

Here's some interior shots of the ground floor btw, since it's the only floor done. Hoping it looks nice and functional at the same time.

Note: Those were just before I broke open the ceiling around the fireplace (filled with torches atm since fire spreads here), the 1st floor is going to overlook the ground floor with semi-private sitting areas. Then the top floor has 5 bedrooms and a small bathroom.

The reason I'm posting an update is to make sure I'm not breaking from the server's theme at any point. That's what I'm practicing after all lol.[DOUBLEPOST=1355701611][/DOUBLEPOST]Alright, I think I'm calling the Dragon's Breath Inn finished unless anyone has some critiques? I'll only post a few new pics but I have every room uploaded to the Flickr set.
