Personality and Abilities

• External: Ba’llua’s outward persona is notably flamboyant and outgoing, characterised by a willingness to talk to absolutely anybody and everybody who piques his interest. He compounds this flamboyance with a preference for revealing clothing, and bright, expensive colours, clearly with the intention of attracting attention. All the same, Ba’llua’s personality and tendencies can often discourage intention, such as his sometimes scathingly honest comments made to newcomers, particularly regarding their appearance and especially their clothes, as well as his willingness to talk about practically any subject, no matter the connotations.
• Internal: Ba’llua’s internal perception of himself is wracked mostly by guilt and spite in equal parts, revolving around his experience and upbringing in the Forbidden Continent of Drowvda. Due to his more recent emotional metamorphosis in Ithania, Ba’llua finds himself feeling great guilt for abandoning the cause he was raised and groomed for in his Xaster. However, the stark contrast between his Ithanian experience and his Xaster experience has led him to utter hatred of the belongingless existence of most native Drowdar, nurturing a strong sentiment of possessiveness within him towards his property. This causes no small degree of conflict within Ba’llua, which he tries his best to obscure with his addiction to luxury and pleasantry.
• Close Relationships: Ba’llua’s closer relations are often the recipients of lavish (largely clothing-based) gifts, and receive much less pointed criticisms towards their appearance clothing choices, instead leaning much more towards a benign “guiding hand” towards what Ba’llua sees as the ideal fashion choice. However, certain aspects of his personality do leak into his treatment of loved ones unchanged. For example, his possessiveness over belongings applies to his close friends and lovers, in that he goes to great lengths to ensure that they remain in his presence, and his guilt over the abandonment of his Xaster causes him to feel intense guilt when leaving behind or being left behind by one he holds close to his heart.
• Morality: Ba’llua maintains an ingrained sense that the Void itself is evil, but has changed his viewpoint on users of it, believing that they themselves are not inherently evil. He does recognise the possibility of the Void corrupting, but views Void-afflicted beings like Vampires as cursed slaves to the Void, and not as evil. Everything else, to Ba’llua, is completely subjective, with a large emphasis placed on the context and intentions of the actions, and not the actual results of them.

Life Story
Birth & Childhood

• Born in a Drowdar Xaster in Drowvda, in the year 271AC, on the 9th day of February.
• Fairly unremarkable childhood for a Drowdar; being a Drow, he is raised around Khoptar-users and discussion of Aberrations, information of which he absorbs as he grows up.
• Begins training in the School of Esa-Ajo aged 10, being taught in the skills of Khoptar usage, knowledge of the Void and Exist, and tracking the various Void-afflicted creatures of Drowvda. He learns this for the next 10 years.

Teenage Years

• Being a native Drowdar born in a Xaster city, Ba’llua develops a stoic, emotionless personality. He represses various aspects of his internal persona, taking on the facade of a ‘standard’ Drowdar.

Adulthood & Present Day

• Ba’llua graduates the School of Esa-Ajo aged 20. He takes up the role of a Drowdar warrior, hunting down the Void-corrupted fauna of Drowvda.
• Aged 25, Ba’llua is recognised for his skill in diplomatic endeavours by his Drowchon, who sends him far south to Ithania, to request prisoners to further supplement the numbers of the Drowdar.
• Ba’llua never returns to his Xaster. After only a week in Ithania, he is overwhelmed by the luxury and pleasantry of the life led by Ithanian upper classes, and despairs at the thought of returning to a Xaster in which he owns nothing and is only another hand to hold a Khoptar.
• Ba’llua’s personality begins to unfurl as he spends more time in Ithania; his repressed homosexuality blossoms, his tastes in food, music, and leisure become apparent, and his love of luxury manifests. As well as this, his Drowdar sense of morality begins to degrade.
• Seeking to further his excess, he learns a number of new things. He finds an Altalar willing to teach him about Nelfin History, learning about the Elven Empire’s collapse, and the Great Nelfin Divergence. Due to this informal education, Ba’llua does not learn Imperial Elven.
• He also learns the craft of tailoring, dancing, and taking care of his body from Ithanian women, gaining something of an addiction to skincare.
• Ba’llua sees the capital of the Regalian Empire as a shining beacon, arriving there in the year of 306AC, after surviving the Bone Horror Crisis that wracked Aloria.
