From childhood, Bonyak had to compete tirelessly for his place in life, first among the other youth of his clan, then later among the hostiles he would face in combat. He would quickly learn to cultivate a great deal of physical strength and fist-fighting skill. For much of his life from adolescence to his early 30's, Bonyak would live a life standard for most Qússrakón men, that of a raider. He found special attraction to scouting out enemy positions, and became extremely skilled at approaching his enemy without being spotted. While most Qússrakón tend to favor the use of bows from horseback, Bonyak chose to specialize primarily in the war club. He enjoyed the personal-ness of melee combat, believing that killing your enemy with your own hands, up close and personal, was far superior to doing so from a distance. Being 33 years old when the Ranger Crisis would strike in 295 AC, already holding a cultural disdain for the Regalian Empire, Bonyak viewed the Regalian's change in allegiance to be an atrocity, and promptly left Qússrakón society to join the Avanthar in their war against the Orcs and Ailor. He would come to join up with a band of Avanthar mercenaries, who he would serve the duration of the conflict with. During this time among the Avanthar, Bonyak would come to pick up a skill in using the Bolas to deadly effect against his opponents. By the end of the Ranger Crisis, and with most of the friends he had made in his small mercenary band over the period of the conflict killed in combat, Bonyak would move away from the open plains and the nomadic life he had lived for the past three decades. He came to live in a Daendroque port city, making a living as a brutal thief. His continued spite for the Regalian Empire would lead him to primarily target wealthy-looking Ailor as his victims. Eventually, Bonyak would find his way to the Regalian Capital city, motivated at the time by an offer to participate in a boxing tournament, which he would take first place in. After the fact, Bonyak would be motivated to stay in Regalia by the overbearing wealth that many of its inhabitants carried, and the ease in which it could be taken from them.
