The Durrande Manor Massacre.
T'was here where the families Riviere, Allain-du-Roche, Montrugard, and Tirrisarl lost their patriarchs and their titles in rebellion against their rightful duke. A scene from the Riviere family history.

((Also, my first attempt at drawing a scene.))

Deryl Ivrae, the Songbird Prince.

I always regretted never being able to get into character with him, though I always enjoyed playing his over joyous and loving personality. Now that its been more than a year since Deryl tromped around Regalia, I think I've finally realized that I wanted to turn him to someone who loved a world that he could never fit within. It feels good to have finally drawn him with a half-decent sense of proportions unlike my last set of drawings of him. -shudder-

What colours do you use for skin colour/shading? Just curious. o uo

I feel like I'm getting better every time I do it.

I use one base color which covers the back of the entire piece. Then, I use a high-light and a shadow color and place them where I need them to go. After that, I use less opaque brushes to go over the borders and combine colors. With the eyedropper tool, I take a sample of the mixed color and start combining that into where the shades start to blur. You can see the points where I eyedroppered it in red. Once I get a good range of this, I use various blush colors like pink or red to add more warmth into the colors. This is especially concentrated near the shadows to give it more of a full effect. Then its just a matter of rinse-and-repeating the color blending and a few final touches.

I think now that I'm comfortable with the color combining junk, I'm going to try adding contrast to the shadows and highlights so that my linework is more harmonious to the coloring. Experimenting time!

I've been working a lot on traditional art and impression sketching to further expand my understanding on facial perspective and proportion. This was done by sketching NPCs from my Skyrim game. In time, I think I will be confident enough to start drawing downwards and towards the rest of the body. Perspective is still intimidating; perhaps I can practice with structural drawings as well?

Since I started with drawing male faces, I have never been good at drawing women. I think I've come to a point where I'm comfortable enough to share and ask for criticism. While there's a long way to go, the thought of progress is exciting. This is Nadine RiviƩre, the spoiled and gluttonous heiress. @Shuikenai
