I wrote this race for the asterian lore, seems like a neat concept, sorry if it's a little low quality, my brain is fried lately...
The Aster are an interesting race with a questionable past. Their unique biology has enabled their survival in far away lands not known to everyday aloria. Brought to asteria by their religion they have large potential in new magical breakthroughs. Not much is known about these odd creatures and they are often seem as disrespectable new outsiders.
Physical Characteristics- The Aster stand at around dwarven height and rarely exceed 5'5. They have large round ears and their eyes always seem to be shades of bright red to dark orange. They have large pointed snouts similar to tigran faces but extended outward more. Upon the tips of their snouts, they grow large black whiskers, about three on each side of the snout. They have a very human like shape other than their heads, though most seem to be very skinny and fragile. They have an increased ability to take in information. Most are bilingual, speaking dahreem(aster language) and common. The aster grow fur all over their bodies excerpt sometimes their underbellies. They also often grow sharp teeth and their teeth often stick out of their mouths and intimidate those around them. The Aster most always like like a large humanoid rat person. Finally, the aster are susceptible to all vampiric bloodlines excerpt zehler. Upon being infected by vampirism, the Aster gains all of the abilities and characteristics of said vampiric bloodline though they start to gain intricate patterns in the fur upon their back, which are always symmetric from the spine.
Mental Characteristics- The Aster are very varying in mental characteristics due to the lack of unionized government in their homeland. Some are largely deviant and enjoy taking power and being tricky while others are seen as peaceful creatures, dwelling on protecting nature. There are rarely any limits on an Aster's opinion on a topic and it is often based upon how the aster is raised.
History:
The Aster only arrived in Asteria very recently. The name is actually a coincidence as the Aster called themselves the Aster even in their homeland. The belief in worship of the moon and the stars brought the Aster to Asteria in the belief that the moon rays were more concentrated in Asteria. They were not seen kindly and shown as outcasts. In the Aster homeland, far away and uncharted on any of regalia's maps, the aster were scavengers, often roaming the land and eating berries, using their physical condition to escape predators. They created some civilization and started to group together, the eldest taking control. The Dahreem language was developed soon after and the creatures gained rapidly in new inventions and technology. Most inventions happened during the night time when the Aster studied out in the moonlight. Soon, the Aster started crediting their new accomplishment to the moon and stars and began worshiping them. Elders started connecting with the moon and stars and rumors spread of the moon giving some magical abilities. The aster soon started developing some of the best astronomy technologies in aloria and began studying the moon's effect in certain areas. Developing new faster boat technology, the aster soon decided to hunt down where the moon's rays were strongest. This brought them to asteria, where they could feel the moon's presence the most. Being seen as outsiders, the Aster were not accepted and often were homeless. A magical breakthrough is soon to happen with the sheer amounts of Lunar power seen in Asteria.
Culture:
Government: The Aster do not have anything similar to leadership. Most just do what the community needs of them and large decisions are made by vote with every person's vote accounted for.
Religion: The Aster believe in the worship of the sun and stars and believe that the universe has its own magical power ready to give everyone who asks and searches hard enough for it.
Economy and Technology: The Aster use their own currency that they call "Spilings." One Spiling is worth approximately one regal. The Aster are incredibly technologically advanced and they have about the same levels of technology as the Qadir and Dwarf. While they do not have airships, they have the best navigational skills in aloria and they have some of the fastest ships in aloria. Though, they haven't explored much as their only interests are in finding the moon.
Combat and Warfare: The Aster usually don't fight and have a "run and hide" tactic.
