For those unfamiliar, the Summer Ashal Games are contests of strength and wit preceded by community nights. This year we had a show out of community artists and craftsman, short stories, good food, great company, and memories of it all!
After a night of bonding and riveting stories, contestants for the games readied themselves to compete for gold in their sports of choice. This year new participants took home the gold, with Khafra Talaat and Krio Nan'so winning the Discus Throw and Wrestling matches respectively. Trophies for this year's contests were provided by Keldo Artimis.
The Ashan Heritage Society would like to extend their thanks for this year's participants and spectators, and hopes to continue the tradition in future years.
DEALING WITH CONFLICT COMMUNITY CLEANUP Written by Nefer shel Morathes
The residents of Claw Court are no strangers to strife and strange happenstance, but rarely is their home directly attacked. On the sixth of this month the Temple of Baskarr was desecrated—its carpets slashed, benches upturned and trod upon, and the masonry and statues bludgeoned and broken. It remains that way not because nothing is being done, but because the commission of new statues and enlisting artisans for repairs take time. The weaving of rugs and fixing the upholstery in benches takes the labors of multiple people, and this is a process that cannot be rushed.
Clan Morathes has tasked itself with both payment for any services rendered and will push legislation in the Assembly to potentially curb miscreants and gangs that fear the consequences of their actions. To all others who wish to assist in the project or have suggestions for improvements to the Temple of Baskarr and the district as a whole, there will be meetings announced in the days after this newsletter's release.
The perpetrators will be found. It may not be today, it may not be tomorrow, but it will happen and they will be very sorry indeed.
JULY'S WORKSHOP EXPLORING FAMILY TIES
Written by Jabari
The Ashan Heritage Society invites all interested parties to explore the past in a public workshop. Every person has a unique history and heritage to call their own, and there's no better way to explore that history than by delving deep into dusty tomes and records to find out just what makes someone who they are. Participants are asked to bring any documentation they have for their family and stories so family trees can be created. Writing materials and worksheets will be provided.
The workshop begins on July 25th at the Alms Ministry Safehouse. Topics and activities will include but are not limited to the construction of family trees, "Show and Tell" where participants share a story from their family history or an heirloom, and discussions on the origins of various cultures (to be decided based on participant makeup).
We ask that those interested RSVP so there are enough aids to keep things moving. A simple letter or note telling us you're coming will suffice!
HIRING OPPORTUNITIES EMPLOY UNDER CLAN MORATHES
Written by Abasi
Clan Morathes finds itself in need of capable staff, but is not under the impression that people should go unrewarded for their service or interest. Staff are guaranteed: room and board, a sizable stipend to be spent as one pleases, uniforms and professional dress not funded out-of-pocket, and ample opportunity to trade off working hours with other staff. Those who provide exemplary service will be offered additional opportunities not detailed here.
While positions at this time are somewhat limited, all applicants will be kept in mind for second wave hiring by the House Steward. Interested applicants are encouraged to acquire references and set aside time for interviews in the near future. If you find yourself in possession of ample free time and limited funds consider applying, though be warned that all applicants will be vetted before hiring. Have your affairs in order.
Lord Ysfha shel Morathes is looking for tactically minded individuals to assist in military endeavors. Those with naval or sailing experience are preferred, but these skills are not required. Lord Atum shel Morathes is looking for a qualified physician to be on standby during day-to-day life, and intellectuals to begin private research. Duke Nefer shel Morathes is looking for a willing translator. Given the nature of the position and close proximity required all who apply will be subject to additional scrutiny.
Additionally, those wishing to assist with domestic affairs are welcomed as well as anyone possessing martial skills.
