Managed by Clan Morathes. The Ashan Heritage Society (“the Society”), founded February 1, 309 AC, is a non-partisan, non-profit, volunteer-based organization dedicated to the promotion of Asha history by the exchange of ideas and information, the preservation and interpretation of resources, and the education of Asha about their heritage. It operates with a set vision of preserving, promoting, and educating, and integrating Ashan culture and diversity in the Crown City and the Archipelago. The Society has an overall objective of providing a safe learning environment to all who want it regardless of their origins. We believe lack of access to education and the opportunity it provides only broadens the division between otherwise agreeable people, and the only way to rectify that divide is by offering both education and cultural exchange within Society funded and managed programs. The goal of the Society is to conduct research and to preserve and disseminate knowledge relating to the history, archaeology, material culture, and geographical and socio-economic development of the Ashal States and their people found outside of it. The Society works toward this goal by making use of donations and sponsorship from Clan Morathes, in addition to orations and history passed down but otherwise not recorded, but free to the public. Monthly programs including workshops, seminars, and events highlighting aspects of history and culture. Coordination with local community leaders to host field trips and other educational endeavors. Monthly Society meetings to discuss ongoing activities in the community, make plans, and have an excuse to see each other. Investments into local businesses as part of the Business History Initiative. Memberships and donations support all of these programs. While donations of all kinds and memberships help support the Society, we are always in need of willing volunteers to lend a hand for projects and community efforts. If donations are outside your financial means, consider donating your time instead. Membership is not required to participate in events, but does help support the Society. All events are open to the public, but may have a cap on participants depending on subject matter and activity type. All members receive access to the Ashan Heritage Society Newsletter, a discount at select local businesses, early notice of special events, and admission to member only meetings after paying associated fees.* Membership fees are annual. Sponsored Membership In the event that paying dues and fees causes undue financial hardship, these fees will be waived and the members sponsored either through donations or resultant from consistent volunteer work. Sponsorship requires discussion with the current Chair, Duke Nefer shel Morathes. Individual Membership Membership for one person at a cost of R$50. Supporter Membership Membership for one person at a cost of R$100. Patron Membership Membership for one person at a cost of R$500. Founder Membership Membership for one person at a cost of R$5000. In addition to basic member benefits, Founding Members are considered lifelong members, pay no annual dues, and receive invitations to otherwise exclusive events. Workshop: Exploring Family Ties August 27th - 05:00 PM CST Topics and activities will include but are not limited to the construction of family trees, “Show and Tell” where participants share a story from their family history or an heirloom, and discussions on the origins of various cultures (to be decided based on participant makeup). Workshop: Nature & You September 24th - 5 PM CST Rather than the hunts Nobility participates in as a pastime or the hunts that commoners engage in by necessity, the Society offers an opportunity to become one with nature. All peoples have something that connects to the earth or shapes their perception of the world around them, and this workshop seeks to explain those connections and the opinions that arise from them. Ashan Heritage Society Meetups Check the calendar for upcoming dates. (Recurring Event) Society meetups are an opportunity to share culture and history with outsiders, as well as wind down from a stressful week. Activities are decided by society members and/or are used to plan educational seminars or workshops. Character Name: Lord (Dr.) Atum Morathes Desired Membership Type: Founder membership Letter to the Society: Dear Nefer, Before you come find and scold me. I /didn’t/ use our Family’s money to pay this but my own money from the Theater companies. I know as one of Clan Morathes this is likely arbitrary but one should never pass up the chance to donate to a worthy cause. Consider this my way of pledging my own dedication to the Society and our Heritage. Walk with wisdom, Lord Atum Morathes Doctor of Medicine Head of the Morathes Theater Company
Dear Lord Morathes, Oddities of sending me a letter when we reside in the same household aside, consider yourself accepted. I expect to see at both the dinner table and upcoming events. Sincerely, Duke Nefer shel Morathes Ashan Heritage Society Chair
