Due to the amount of "WTF?! MY CHARACTER IS ONLY 14!!! AND I'M SUPPOSED TO MARRY AN OLD MAN?!?!" That I've been seeing in light of the Regalian War of the Roses, I would like to point out that Noble families arranged marriages in medieval times commonly around that age. Remember, back in those times, you would be lucky to live past 40, and therefore, children would begin to have children around, and correct me if I'm wrong, 15 or so? Therefore, it was NOT uncommon to see arranged marriages of this sort. If you are completely against it, perhaps you shouldn't be a part of a Noble family? Especially one that is catching so much heat at the moment. So, please do research on Medieval-era marital practices before crying "pedophilia".

A few corrections:
· Girls usually married around 15-17 with the permission of an elder (King or Queen) and or their guardian.
· Boys/Men usually Knights Married the upper class women which were princesses and Nobles.
· Half of the upper class were married at very young ages (Girls: 15-17) (Boys: 17-25), However, I would personally hated to be a girl in the medieval times, not to mention that the Chinese abused their females and married them at 13…
· Marriage arrangements are usually done on the forums already… Just there isn't a proper template for such an occasion.
· Marriages could be settled as an "Event" according to Tom1804 though, I'm not sure.

Extra:

I doubt there was "pedophilia" during the Middle Ages, that was typically something that wasn't done mostly, because of how religious everyone was until King Henry the Eighth, who created the Anglican Church and thus the Protestant reformation began. However, Spain remained Catholic. Which explains several people's differences with Divorces and Abortions. I particularly don't think this would be needed at all.

Yes, but; A young female noble child, wouldn't get married to an elderly man. A young man between 14-28 perhaps, but a 60-70 year old I see as completely impractical. Elaine had an arranged marriage and was married at 14 to a male 14 year old, not a 60-70 year old pervert. Is it possible? Yes, it is quite possible, but I certainly wouldn't let a 14 year old girl marry a 60-70 year old. Would you?

Men are capable of impregnating a female up to death. Wouldn't it make sense that an aging man without any children would want the best vessel for his unborn spawn?

This still isn't impractical, marriages were arranged as a form of a treaty. If it were medieval times, and I was put in this situation, yes I would let a 14 year old girl marry a 60-70 year old man...

You both are awful in this situation, I wouldn't. Do you realize that even if that happened now or back then how awful it would be for the girl? No, I suppose you wouldn't. I don't think you're girls, therefore I don't think you know all the f**ked up stuff elderly creeps can do to young girls. And even in medieval times it would've been awful, some girls (if they survived) went insane.

War of the roses.....excellent, I have my book title!

Exactly. It's an awful practice. That's why it's outlawed most everywhere nowadays.

You're trying to view medieval practices with modern morality, might as well divide by zero.

You must understand that I'm not condoning this behavior in modern day situations, however, if I was threatened by a more powerful military in medieval times, and they wanted to marry my daughter, then I would let them! I would HAVE to or face being completely and utterly obliterated!

Possibly, I see both sides of it which gets extremely confusing because I was taught the absolute devastation of being kidnapped, (and counting because my mom just won't stop talking about it... (facepalm)) and I know exactly how messed up old creepy fellows can be, while realizing that this happened in medieval times still doesn't make up for the fact how messed up I think it is, that's all.

If I was the father, I would've been completely obliterated. And yes, I realize my daughters could've been married off anyway after my obliteration but it'd make a point, a pretty foolish one, but a point none the less.

Well, it wouldn't just be me, but the people that I call my family, and my followers. Everyone that I am responsible for would die... I would have to consider my follower's well-being as well as that of my actual FAMILY.

It's messed up because it's supposed to be messed up Medieval women had no rights commoners had no rights.

See, you never said that. If their was more than one life I was responsible for, then the correct thing to do would marry off the daughter. Now, would I let that daughter stay married off is a different story. :3

That's true, doesn't mean it's not messed up, hehe. Oh gosh! That's ironic, I'm doing a project with Woman Empowerment, and it's the whole big thing about Women's Rights. That'd be great if someone started a protest for women's rights. Would it work? Probably not, but would it be awesome? Yes it would. Hehe.

Lol unfortunately, it wouldn't garner much support from the citizens of Regalia... Nobody would care honestly and unfortunately, well, they SHOULDN'T considering the setting.

The Kade family members cannot marry without the conscent of the patriarch and women get married off to create political alliances.

Ah true, but it'd still be cool. Well I think my character in-progress would care, she is more like a male than a female, and I think she would fight for her own rights, except for the fact she's a cripple = Curse you diseased bloodline! Huehue I crack myself up.

You'd have more luck fighting for Vampire rights. Starting a group solely to change nobles tradition would probably bring shame to the family. You should know how nobles treat others who bring shame to their family.

I do however agree that this is a bit more harsh then I expected. I assumed the eldest daughter was the one who would marry. I've also heard of arranged marriages that were declared years before the actual marriage. They would do this in order to let the female grow into maturity. In the meantime, each participant in the arranged marriage would have to learn the others family customs. I could guess that the girl would also get to know the guy better in this time period.

This is a hard subject as it depends on what part of Europe you're in. If you're in Germanic Europe, Women and Men were married at around the same age in their 20's while in Roman Europe it was an 18 year-old girl to a 37 year-old man give or take a few years. This is one of the reasons why the Romans were so surprised when they first discovered the Germanic tribes of the north.
