Alexa Obsequio

New character because I fancied trying something new, in RPing both a female and a mage.

Will I ever stop tying my new characters in with Exitias and the Glenwood fam? I don't know.

• Alexa has lived in Daendroc for the majority of her life, only recently moving to Regalia in search of money. She lives in a small house there with several gang members.
• Alexa was born in Daendroc to Juan and Maria Obsequio. She has no siblings, and little extended family.
• Alexa wants to become more powerful as a mage, but this isn't her main ambition.

• She has rather large eyes, full lips, and ears that kind of stick out, although she usually hides them under her hair. Her expression is usually rather neutral unless she feels a strong emotion.
• Alexa is lean and fit, with a fair amount of muscle mass. Her skin is average, perhaps a bit on the pale side. She has no physical disabilities.
• Alexa dresses rather simply, in a brown blouse and pants. She usually wears brown and other earthy tones. She wears no jewelry. She never carries weapons, because her fists can become lethal in seconds.
• Alexa speaks rather quickly most of the time, with an average to high tone. She speaks in a Daendroque accent, and is extremely fluent in the language, more so than in Common.

Personality Traits

• Reserved: Alexa is rather reserved when it comes to social situations. She doesn't talk very much and doesn't usually like to be the center of attention. However, she is always engaged with the conversation (unless distracted by something else). She prefers her contributions to be few, but meaningful.
• Manipulative: Alexa will often manipulate people to get what she wants. Whether it's blackmail, seduction, deception, or other forms, she prefers manipulation to fighting when it comes to accomplishing a task. She knows what her magic can do and she prefers to avoid using it unless needed. However, she will threaten people with it as well.
• Closed: Alexa doesn't open up to people very well. She prefers to be alone with her thoughts, and her thoughts to be alone with her. Even if she knows someone well, it takes a lot of effort for her to open up to them. If someone wants to know something about her, she is more likely to make something up than she is to reveal personal information.
• Inappropriate: Alexa's thoughts are rather inappropriate. She will often make jokes that should not be made, or insult people. She has kind of an inappropriate/twisted sense of humor, as well. Her racist, sexual and insulting thoughts/jokes sometimes get her in trouble.
• Blunt: Alexa says what she thinks, no more, no less. Aside from when it comes to divulging personal information, Alexa will give it to you straight. If she thinks you're a jerk, you'll know. If she thinks you're good-looking, you'll know. She doesn't beat around the bush.
• Stoic: Alexa doesn't often show emotion, at least negatively. It's hard to get in her head, and if someone manages to, she usually won't show it. She has trained herself to keep an even composure almost all the time. Her emotions are USUALLY as solid as the stone she uses.
• Breaking point: However, she does have a breaking point. It's very hard to reach, but should it be reached, all void breaks loose. Her breaking point ranges from her breaking down crying to her entering her stone form and going ham. This breaking point is unavoidable once reached, and the only way to end her rampages is to very slowly calm her down OR challenge her to a bet.
• Distractability: Alexa is rather easy to distract. Approach her with anything interesting, and she will probably turn her attention to that. In a social situation, she often bounces between various conversations and events, listening to and engaging in all of them. Distracting her is one of the best ways to calm her down, as well.
• Gambling addiction: Alexa has an addiction to gambling. Any sort of bet, card game, or other gambling game instantly will catch her attention, and she will be eager to participate. She is an experienced gambler and usually knows not to make bets she has no chance of winning, but sometimes the thrill is too much for her. If she could, she would make most of her money off of gambling.

Strengths

• Stone Body: Alexa is a Mage level in Stone Body, having trained since her youth under her parents, one Mage and one Expert in the form. When in her stone form, she gains six inches and about 95 pounds, making her size equal to a very buff 6'0" man. Also, her already-commendable resilience is further increased, making her an almost-unstoppable machine. However, should her focus be broken by a clever opponent (probably by tricking her, making her run into something, something like that), her stone form will dissipate.
• Strength: Alexa is very strong compared to her size. She can match lifts with men of average strength, and is able to control her stone form with ease. If she used another weapon, it would probably be an axe. As it is, she can use improvised weapons with great effect, just due to the objects being large.
• Endurance: Alexa's physical endurance is extremely good. Although she isn't very fast, she can outrun pursuers in a street environment by losing them or kiting them, and just letting them tire themselves out. If she faces someone of equal physical strength in a fight, she can often win or stalemate by tiring her opponent out.
• Resilience: Alexa has a very high degree of physical resilience, even in her normal form. She can take punches, kicks, and sometimes even cuts without being hurt much. Because of this and her endurance, she can often outlast foes in her normal form, even though she most likely cannot outright beat them.
• Intelligence: Alexa isn't just a dumb brute, she is also very smart. She is always thinking and analyzing, whether it is battle plans or an active combat situation. She actually prefers to out-think her opponents over fighting them, usually with deception.

Weaknesses

• Speed: Alexa is not very fast. It's hard for her to run away from people, and she is slower than many in combat. In her stone form she is even slower, and a full-on sprint can usually disrupt her magic. If she has a chance between fighting and running, she'd better choose running.
• Agility (or lack thereof): Alexa is not agile at all, and as one would expect, it's even worse in her stone form. Fighting agile enemies is rather difficult for her, and if they fake her out enough, she can lose her concentration and her stone form will break down. She relies on taking attacks and shrugging them off instead of avoiding them, because she could barely dodge a bottle thrown at her head.
• Distractability: Ordinarily this would not be much of a weakness, especially in combat. However, she is a mage, meaning that if she loses focus, she cannot maintain her stone form. Alexa's unusual distractability means that if there is something interesting during a fight, she can be distracted by it and her magic will stop.
• Eyes: Alexa's eyes are very sensitive. She cannot cover them up in her stone form, so this is her chink in her armor. Bright lights, thrown dirt, even environmental dust can irritate her eyes to the point of breaking her magic. She is also slightly nearsighted.
• Gambling addiction: This is a trait because it influences her personality, but also a weakness. She loves the thrill of gambling, and has lost large sums in the past. If she owes you some money, don't try and dupe her out of it, just make a bet with her that you know you'll win.

• Alexa often mumbles to herself in Daendroque while thinking. She also will rub tables with her fingers in blackjack's "hit me" motion. Incidentally, doing this with her right hand on top of her left hand is how she summons her stone form.
• Alexa is a good cook.
• Alexa is a very good card player, especially poker, due to her intelligence and stoicism.

Likes

• Gambling: Ever since she won money betting on things when she was young, she's been addicted to gambling. It's unclear if she likes the prospect of reward or just the thrill of betting. Either way, she loves gambling and will always love it. She also likes "gambling" in the sense of taking risks.
• Rocks: Alexa is a stone mage, so it makes sense that she would like rocks to some extent. However, she enjoys collecting them, admiring different kinds, and finding ones with strange patterns. She keeps some of her favorites in a small pouch in her house.
• Eavesdropping: Alexa finds other people's lives very interesting, and she enjoys eavesdropping on their conversations. She considers her life rather bland (even though it's not really that bland), and others' more interesting. She prefers to sit and listen to conversations around her rather than be an active participant.

Dislikes

• Rain: Alexa hates the rain. She doesn't like getting wet and she hates the humid feel that heavy clouds or rain bring. Rain won't really make her mad, it just puts her in a general bad mood until it passes over. ((And it lags my computer.))
• Sleep: She knows it's necessary to live. She knows it's good for her. That doesn't stop her from disliking it. She will sleep a minimum amount because she knows she has to, but she would rather not sleep if she didn't have to. Nothing puts her in a bad mood faster than discovering she has overslept. She considers sleeping a waste of time.
• Blue: Alexa hates the color blue. From a young age, her parents groomed her to be a mage, including warning her of the dangers of lapis. This has translated to a general hatred of the color blue, even if it's just a blue outfit or tapestry. As one might expect, she doesn't like the Vigilant Shield for this reason.

• Juan and Maria Obsequio (NPC): Juan and Maria are her parents. They owned a trading empire in Daendroc based out of the former Glenwood Manor until they moved to New Ceardia.
• Nicolas Garcia (NPC): Nicolas was Alexa's only real childhood friend. He introduced her to card games and betting.
• Ben Ulstead (NPC or myself in the future): Ben was the Obsequios' servant during the end of their time in Daendroc. He was left behind to watch the Manor when they left for New Ceardia.
• Ahmed, Matari, Ferdinand, John, Soma, A'rona (@Squeaker555 , @MeddlingKitsune , @Aidaning , myself, @RejectedNerd74 , @_Electra_ ): These people are the members of the gang Argus, which Alexa has recently joined.

Life Story (Required)

The Deal:
Alexa Oro Obsequio was born in Daendroc to Juan and Maria Obsequio. She was born into relative wealth, because Juan and Maria were the heads of a large trading empire, that rose after the fall of the Glenwood family. Her childhood was quite sheltered, and although she went to a school, she didn't have many friends. Her parents tried not to let her get out very much because they had plans for her. Around the age of seven, Alexa became very good friends with a boy named Nicolas. He was a fan of card games, and taught them to Alexa.

The Bet:
Once Alexa was 12, her parents began schooling her at home. They revealed to her that they were both stone mages, one Mage and one Expert. The Obsequio family had always been powerful stone mages, and they won their empire by force. Juan and Maria began Alexa's stone magic education, wanting her to follow in the family's footsteps. Around this time, Nicolas began hanging out with sailors and the like at the small port in the area. They introduced him to gambling for money. He then passed this on to Alexa, who was immediately drawn to the thrill of chance. She began hanging around the port area as well.

The Flop:
Alexa had fun learning the ways of stone magic, but unfortunately she also learned of her emotional breaking point. She was hanging around the port one day, when she lost a bet she had made. She grew very angry and began smashing things with her budding stone body magic. Nicolas eventually calmed her down and led her away. Several weeks later, she was back at the port again. Nicolas and another man began making advances on her, and she grew angry once again. Her stone form emerged, and she knocked out and severely injured both Nicolas and the other man. She was banned from the port and her family was disgraced.

The Turn:
Because of the disgrace her outbursts had brought the family, it slowly began to lose its position in the Alorian trading world. Her parents hired Ben Ulstead as a servant, hoping he could help them regain their position. Unfortunately, they were unable to, and were relegated to a smaller trading company's position. They never regained the glory they once had. They lived in Daendroc several years more, but decided it would be best to move away, since Alexa had become a bit of a pariah. They quietly snuck away in the dark of night to the private port behind the Manor, where the Sidewinder once rested. Ben agreed to stay behind and watch the Manor. The three Obsequios boarded their small ship and sailed for New Ceardia, a new life ahead of them.

The River:
After several years of living in New Ceardia, Alexa decided she wanted to make her living in the glorious city of Regalia. She bid her parents goodbye and sailed for Regalia aboard a merchant's ship, with determination upon her face. In Regalia, she met two men: a tall, dark man dressed in orange and yellow, and a hooded man with a deck of cards. They invited her to join their little group of friends, known as Argus. For her, their intentions are still unknown...
