His is sometimes prone to zoning out when sleep deprived or uninterested, something off putting for a number of people who are not so familiar with him. Strangers often just disregard him as another oddball scholar, but the intricacies of his personality are worth investing in for those who have the time. He finds joy in filling the role of advisor, or merely even listening to the entirety of someone’s life story or other topics that may generally not find purchase with less curious individuals. Second Paragraph Alderik is fairly competent in both his ability as a scholar and an individual, though like any sane person in Aloria has a number of doubts and personality ticks. He has always doubted his sexuality and his competence as a man and lover, leading to a longstanding life of abstaining from romantic relationships. He also doubts his aspirations, always seeming to stand in the shadow of his brother Francis despite the focus of his entire life being similar scholarly pursuits. Third Paragraph As a Kade, Alderik has always had an odd mixture of love and reverence for members of his family. He has always engaged other scholarly Kades with a supreme level of fraternity, the more martially inclined with a degree of respect, and the political, Alexander especially, with a degree of affectionate reverence because of their position and the massive amount of political power they wield or have wielded. Lovers and courtees have been few and far between for the Anglian, not only due to the lack of faith in his ability but also because he has always been deeply in love with his research. Fourth Paragraph Morality for an intellectual like Alderik is always put in the perspective of scholarship. Alderik is usually persuaded to do what he believes is for the benefit of himself, his family, and his research. He often only gets involved or invests his time in matters of morality when he can do so to learn something valuable about himself or others, and commonly sees them as moot. Alderik has a very pragmatic way of approaching his own issues, though will commonly offer an optimistic one to those who come seeking advice. Life Story Major Life Points Born to Maximillian Kade and Elizabeth of Dornton in the year 261 AC on December the 27th in the Kade Homeland of Anglia. As a child of a major political powerhouse with incredibly influence over the region, Alderik was raised in the classical fashion of nobility with tutors and nannies doting on him. Having a fairly regular and mundane childhood where he focused purely on his education while playing with his siblings and whatever neighboring children there were present. At the age of ten, Alderik was admitted into an specialized Historical Academy in Anglia, taking history as his chosen subject. Through the course of his teenage years he pursued the general trinity of history: pre-cataclysm, post-cataclysm, and Nelfin with an additional study in Void and Exist knowledge to understand the implications of magic on several of the more advanced civilizations and how they utilized it. At the age of twenty, he graduated and left his homeland to travel to Regalia where he immediately began learning Alt-Regalian. Through his twenties Alderik spent a number of years in the Ithanian Court entertaining the whims of an Ithanian Scholar he had met during his time at academy and continued to correspond with. During this time he learned the Ithanian Dialect, and spent a considerably amount of time teaching in an Ithanian Academy of History with specific focus on his studies in Pre-Cataclysm Folklore. Due to the dense population of elves in the mostly poorer sector of the Academy he also invested a considerably amount of time learning Modern Elven as well to be able to translate important historical documents and relay information to his students better. He remained in Ithania until 291 when the Chrysant war came to an end. After leaving his research partner and longtime friend behind, Alderik spent a considerable number of years partaking in archaeological expeditions in Farah’deen to gain an increased knowledge of the existing and historical changes in culture. Living in a Qadiriq village he slowly picked up the more familiar and friendly Faraddi tongue, keeping well away from the Masaya and only venturing nearby when it was required to meet intellectual contacts or explore certain libraries or digs. In the remaining years of his life up until his return to Regalia in 306 AC, Alderik went through a mid-life crisis period where he returned to Anglia and spent a good deal of time engulfed in his own culture. Influences from Unionism Unionism, as a major facet of House Kade and their Regalian Empire, has obviously been engrained into the mind of Alderik since he was a child. His own religious allegiances are few and far between, despite knowing what he needs to to pass the random testing of creeds and recite the last few Emperors. Despite this he will, of course, always profess himself a Unionist and even enjoys listening to sermons and going to confessions whenever necessary. I believe this is somewhat necessary to flesh out the character, and the general information that needs to be reviewed is present and easy to see because of the formatting.
