A statement stamped with the rat-sigil of House Montdall is posted on the public noticeboard.
Montdall Crest.webp
There is good within this City yet! It appears my judgement of the Viridians that crawl this City may have been wrong. Last night, when visiting the tavern with my good brother, he was viciously attacked by a savage named Harlow. Thankfully the lunatic was apprehended and taken to Greygate. If only that had been the end of our troubles!

While my brother was being treated I decided to pack myself a pipe, using only the finest pipe tobacco from the local tobacconist of course. Though just as I was about to begin smoking, a gunshot rang out through the Tavern! Before I could even react, I was tackled to the ground by Sera Llorvaie Oribekian. If it were not for this vigilant Knight, I'd have certainly been shot by the rogue gunner! To my surprise, this Viridian had taken a bullet for me, a most honourable act of courage indeed.

It is clear to me now, that there is a split amongst the Viridians! Some hide behind the pen, while others are proactive and hold up to their code, protecting the Nobility of the Empire.

Sera LLorvaie Oribekian, our friend in the Viridian Order, is publicly thanked and praised for their actions by House Montdall. We shall not forget your sacrifice, and pray that the other Knights of the City take after their example.

Signed,
Leofric Montdall
Count of Wierre-Effe.

Merowald has left a statement of her own under this notice, with no sigil representing her name.

Some context -

This is an underhanded try at defaming the Lord-Protector von Moritz for the essay he wrote with Count Delmotte that denounced 'The Concordat,' as being disloyal to the Empire.

Instead of genuinely praising Sera Llorvaie Oribekian's heroism, he decides to mock the Lord-Protector for being a learned man that can express his thoughts against him in writing.

Not only is he undermining the Lord-Protector's contributions as a patriot, but it's also clear that he only cares about the Virdians when the Order serves him directly.

Count Montdall, Sera Oribekian deserves a dignified gesture of respect for saving your life instead of this thinly veiled insult.

I'm worried about how your family's public behavior has stirred people into violence. Let's dispel some of the tension with an Oath Trial.

If your safety is a concern in a public space, I'm more than sure the Viridians will be at your side to protect you.

The Minister of Law was making her way through the streets - dressed in her expensive & lavish coat, when this notice nailed to the public board caught her attention. Her head tilts upon reading it, before she inhales, quietly - and quickly penned a response in return to this missive. She tacks it to the board - It was in her usual cutesy writing, with a soft-colored pink parchment.

To the Count Leofric Montdall,

While I disagree with how mister Harlow Ketch handled your bold accusations in regards to Sera Merowald Risberg, please understand that your accusations would have put Sera Risberg to the pyre not too long ago. Perhaps if someone took your claim to the extreme - I fear what would have happened to this lovely & model Knight. She is merely upholding her code & duties as a Bloodcast Knight, & seeks to better this Empire.

I can also assure you mister Harlow Ketch does not act violently on a whim. I can also assure you that the Knights of this City are doing their best to serve this Empire, and it's blatant disrespect to the Empire & Crown to glorify a single Knight, whilst pushing the rest into the shadows & imply they are not doing enough.

While Sera Llorvaie Oribekian does deserve praise for what they've accomplished & done for House Montdall,
you do not have to shove the rest of the Viridian Knights into the shadows.

Lots of love,
Her Eminence

While Sera Oberikaan's actions are worthy of honor and praise, the insult Count Montdall has levied in ambiguity against any number of Viridian Knights is not acceptable. It leaves one to wonder who the Count Montdall could be talking about, if not the Viridian Knight who exposed Count Norinn's scheming and mass-deception of the nobility in the public eye in recent weeks.

It is thus that Lord-Protector von Moritz issues a challenge: Put down the pen and come, in person, to defend your word by action in Arena Court.

The Lord-Protector shall be present to meet this challenge against him for the next two hours.

Fabienne du Poncaire was taking a stroll in the city with her loyal entourage of Ithanian ladies, all get-up with perfectly coiffed hair, well-powdered faces, and intricate fans moving easily in their bejewelled hands. Their prattle over dresses and shoes simmered as they passed one of Regalia's public noticeboards, and it only took a quick glimpse of House Montdall's statement for all of them to burst out in a fit of shrill laughter.

"That is the most heinous looking sigil I've ever seen in my whole life!"

The group of ladies just all pointed and laughed at the noticeboard, and revelled in their hysteria about this poor man's sigil for the remainder of their afternoon.

Ten days ago, I challenged the Count to apologize for calling nobility Common Rabble, as nobility were there talking to the Governor. The alternative was a no-substitute duel. They declined to so much as answer the call. To be true to my word, the Count is a coward.

Last night, the Count appeared to report a crime. However, during the reporting of this crime, the Count called specific actions conducted against himself and his club treason. They were confronted for failing in Imperial Code and not addressing nobility properly. They were offered this chance in exchange for being charged for impersonating a government official - naming their organization a government office. But how did they do this? They did so by calling any action against it treason that any person that spoke against it was rebellious and, even, Jacobins. They accused parties of blackmail against the Governor. During last night's conversation, rather than take ownership of their actions - they passed the blame onto the Governor ( @Halsi ) for any perception of the above.

The Count uses his organization to swing a non-existing cudgel against any vocal opposition. So far, they have only proven concerns from lawful citizens. I am convinced that the Count is using the Concordat as a power grab that would subvert the Governer's office and every other ministry of its proper authority. These government offices exist for every purpose mentioned in the organizational chart of the Concordat - these are the offices the aristocracy and commoner alike can voice grievance to and attempt change through. When the government returns to normal function, once we find the Emperor, our ability to approach the Crown will undoubtedly return - but we do not need the Count for this. We need only our rulers, and we need only our government which achieves this.

To my fellows of the aristocracy, our powers under the Crown are a privilege from the Crown. These functions the Count seeks to bring back were removed, not because it doesn't work, but because countless nobles used these abilities to cause suffering in their lands - abused the citizenry to line their own pockets - and ultimately gained these powers only for the sake of power and not proper management of the Emperor's lands. These precursors exist in how the Count acts now - therefore, I request the aristocracy to think carefully about their involvement. Will you assist in creating back channels to the state's authority? Or, will you leave the Count to suffer his ignorance?

Avael would roam amidst the city streets without his armored attire in an attempt to enjoy the evening. Though, upon seeing one of the many papers, replies, and the like run across his single eye, the Aelrrigan's neutral expression, turned to a frown.

"A rat for a sigil. I suppose one could argue that House Crests tend to define their biggest traits."
