[Henryk Siemiradzki, Following the Example of the Gods, 1879]

In the late morning of Sunday, March 31st, love was celebrated between a man and a woman of noble birth.

It was the wedding of Julius Peirgarten and Alaine Delmotte.

[Glimpse of Alaine preparing for the wedding]
Alaine couldn't keep still. While wringing her hands together anxiously, her eyes watched the steady hand of her sister reach down to the table before her, collecting some more jasmine and ornamental hair accessories to add into her braided locks. The bride-to-be released a quiet breath.

"Goodness… I'd been so excited about being with Julius, that I've forgotten the fact that the entire cathedral will be filled with guests watching me," Alaine said, giving a nervous laugh. "What if I were to pass out while being escorted down the aisle?"

"You're not going to pass out," Miriam von Duerr, Alaine's sister, replied, offering a small chuckle. "And it won't be that bad, Alaine. Just keep your gaze ahead of yourself, don't focus on everyone else around you. You'll survive this." She comfortingly patted the shoulder of Alaine, gesturing for Emeline Delmotte, who was standing off to the side mingling with Benjamin Delmotte, to bring a hand mirror over once she finished her sister's hair.

"You're right…" Alaine murmured, she still felt uneasy. Her tense hand reached for the mirror offered to her, turning her head to admire the work of both her sister and cousin. A smile tugged at her lips finally. "You're right."

[Glimpse of Julius preparing for the wedding]

Before the wedding, fierce shouting in Anglian would be heard as Marie Peirgarten and Maeva Howlester tried to get Julius ready for his big day. It consisted of them shouting and running around to grab things that were needed to prepare him. The male Peirgarten remained relatively calm, having heard their yelling and arguing a thousand times before. He'd hear it a thousand times after, surely.

After a short while the yelling and shouting subsided and everything was gathered for the male Peirgarten. His clothes, cologne, shoes, and comb among other things. It was now up to Julius to prepare himself for his big day. He gave them both a hug, muttering his thanks of their native tongue before they were escorted out of the room.

Julius prepared himself to the best of his ability with the help of his kin. He looked more well-groomed and dapper than he had in ages. Neatly trimmed beard and chopped hair, with clean-cut sides. After a smoke break and a glass of rum, he was ready for his big day. The doors swung open and he made his approach to the altar, having a look around at all those present before taking his place there.

[Alaine during the wedding]

Alaine could hear the beating of her heart within her ears as she was escorted down the aisle, walking alongside Rodderick Howlester. The thumping of her heart was almost deafening to her; a part of her feared others would soon begin to hear it as she slowly passed by them. Despite this, she wore a smile.

The words of encouragement given to her by her sister and cousin earlier that morning were beginning to falter in their strength the longer the Delmotte woman made her way down the lengthy aisle. With every step she took, Alaine's breaths grew more shallow and the beat of her heart grew more fierce.

This is taking far too long, Alaine thought to herself, doing her best avoid making eye contact with those present. Her thoughts raced wildly within her head; however, despite all of this, she still wore a smile.

She was finally nearing the altar and Julius by this point. Her gaze settled ahead, resting on the figure awaiting her. Suddenly, all of her built up anxiety melted away as she caught a glimpse of the sky blue eyes of the Peirgarten. This is taking far too long, she thought again, though for different reasons. She longed to now stand beside her beloved. In just a few steps, she would reach him and the two of them would begin their journey throughout life together.

And it was because of this, she smiled.

[Julius during the wedding]

During the wedding, Julius, surprisingly enough wasn't all that nervous. He remained about as calm inside as he showed outside, on his facial features. Wearing a bright smile throughout the whole ceremony. For once in his life he felt genuinely happy, comfortable, and alright with his circumstances.

With his family and friends there for him, the peasant boy felt at peace for once in his life. A blissful state of happiness that he allowed himself to fall into overtook him. He was marrying the woman he truly loved, afterall. There wasn't a thing in the world that was able to take that moment or that feeling away from him. His day had finally come, a new beginning, a chance at a family that the peasant boy at heart couldn't even begin to fathom. He was so overjoyed and filled with emotion that he held his breath for the first half of vows which involved the pastor.

Once the vows were said and the moment that they had both been waiting for was officialized, the Peirgarten released a gentle sigh of relief, happily taking his wife into his arms, mentally preparing himself for the days and years to come. The farm boy's dreams had finally come true after many years of wait. He could finally call himself a happily married man.

"All the Delmottes are marrying out at this rate, is there something wrong?"

Constanze graces the happy couple with a vintage Leutz Armagnac from the Dawnblade label, aged 23 years.

She gets woefully intoxicated at the party afterward, as usual.

Alderik sat quietly next to Genevieve, a smile on his face as he fiddled with his necklace. He nudged the woman next to her with his elbow, leaning over to whisper to her, "She better slap a collar on that one, before he goes sniffin' around again." He laughed at his own joke, before leaning back to his spot and paying close attention to the marriage of his friend.

The happy couple would find a heavy wheel of goat's cheese and a book on the philosophies of love amongst their wedding gifts.

The younger Peirgarten sat beside her sister and best friend, Marie Peirgarten and Dagna von Rahm. She'd get into a low mutter as the ceremony was concluding. "Guess we're the only ones in the singles club now, hm?" She spoke with a hint of humor, though was dead serious.

Julius and Alaine would receive a box of assorted chocolates and a few scented candles.

Rodrigo Peirgarten watched the ceremony with a faint smile upon his face, keeping his eyes on Julius and Alaine throughout. As the vows were shared and the attendees began to approach the newlywed couple with gifts, Rodrigo straightened from his seat and stepped towards the pair. Standing before Julius, he offered the taller man a smile and a couple of pats on the shoulder from his only hand. Then he looked to Alaine and offered her an appreciative and respectful dip of his head. As people began to crowd the pair to offer their gifts, Rodrigo stepped away, returning to his previous seat.

"That wasn't funny Noelle."

Dagna von Rahm sat by Noelle and the others. "I suppose, but I would have to agree with Madame Marie." She shook her head a bit and continued to watch the ceremony.

Julius and Alaine would receive a bottle of fine spiced wine.
